@ddi
So if I have a working install with an Nvidia 9400GT but I want to use my ATI 5870, do I just have to replace my bootloader with the ATI experimental using #####? AM You do not need ##### you need Kabyl chamaleon trunk here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t&p=1546946. Just replace your boot loader with his and have in the com.apple.Boot.plist file this: <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>Yes</string>

MacUser2525
Thanks for your suggestion, but it did not work, I boot up to the apple logo and then a white screen. Any other suggestions? AM Hit the F8 key when booting at the Chameleon screen so you can type in then hit enter key the -v switch at the Chameleon prompt so you can see where it fails and either post picture or the text you see when it fails so people can get an idea of what is going wrong. tosh123
Thanks for your suggestion, but it did not work, I boot up to the apple logo and then a white screen. Any other suggestions? Wich framebuffer you are using? In some cases you can use the Kabyl-branch without tweeking, if something goes wrong you have to find out the right framebuffer-type for all your GFX-card connections. For 5850/5870 cards Kabyls chameleon uses Uakari by default, you can also try Vervet, Eulemur, Zonalis and others. You have to try out it by yourself, its expermental and nothing that run out of the box.

tyger52@hotmail.com
Everytime I install #####, my computer crashes for various different reasons after reboot. I've been trying different guides for a month and can't get it too work, can anyone help? I'm also installing to a usb external hard drive. I can get 10.6.2 to open with the hazzard install, I can upgrade to 10.6.4 (no graphics update) with the legacy kernel, but graphics update or 10.6.5. There have also been a few instances where I've gotten to DSMOS arrived and the computer just crashes, I've gotten the black and white blocks and pci root=0 despite the boot.plist being changed to pciroot=1. Can some one please help me, here are my specs. P6X58D-e Sapphire 5850 1gb ram i7 930 6 gigs of kingston ram

I used the Tonymacx86 method with multiboot and #####. I am running 10.6.6 right now and its stable, absolutely no crashes or anything. Video is working with the 9600GT, onboard sound is working, network is working as is USB and firewire. @ddi
@xabidh and @ashman1970 Ok I am no expert so I am not sure that what I say is going to work, so keep it in mind ; that said here is what i have done and having quite similar setup it should work for you two as well. First download kabyl's rc700 boot loader here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=231768 then replace your boot file with kabyl's one and add this to your com.apple.Boot.plist file removing any other graphic related string you might have. <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>Yes</string> If the os won't let you replace the boot file try to trash the file then copy kabyl's (I don't know why but some are telling me they cannot replace it) And that it is all i think... good luck

frell
Hi, i've installed my Hackintosh successfully with Andys Bootdisc for P8P67 user. ( http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...52849&st=40 ) Everything is working fine (besides my monitor won't find the signal until i unplug/plug it). But it seems my AMD 5870 has still some problems. 2D Applications are no Problem but every game i'd tryed and even geekbench is crashing. Do i have to activate a 3D Mode or isn't the 5870 fully supportet yet? Thanks and all the best, Frell P.S.: My machine: 2500K, Sapphire VaporX 5870, 8GB Ram, P8P67
