I changed darwin.iso with empireEFIv1.085 (i uninstalled and installed with the new iso) and then it boot now :o. (when it ask to choose between cd and hd and i chose hd ;). Ah, one more thing. I set to use the iso (connected on power on) in vmware settings. But now snow leopard recognizes only 1 gb of ram :)

Empire EFI also uses Chameleon. Maybe slightly newer code base. I'll take a look over the weekend. As things stand I will continue on with darwin.iso for ESXi at present. The new VMware patcher looks pretty good and I may well stop supporting it on Workstation if the new solution is robust.

Oh jeah, the patcher works really good, I hope now to get Mac OS X running on ESXi.

You can inform me, If you have something to test.

Now very unlikely I'll do anything this weekend as I have to work.

Hi!

I have upgraded the linux kernel to 2.6.34. Since then my bridged networking on the Mac guest does not work anymore under VMVare WS 7.1. With 2.6.31-21 everything is ok.

Does anybody else have the same problem as me?

Regards,

Daniel

http://www.filedropper.com/darwin310b3 has a new darwin.iso for ESX(i) testing only. Please try it out as I have added some additional extensions that may help. If they don't then I have no idea what to try next and it may be that it is a limitation we cannot work around.

For all the hosted products, I have decided to use the new VMware patcher, http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=220750, which works really well, and was something I wanted to do since the beginning of the work 2 and half years ago. Albert has done a good job with it and it now makes the darwin.iso work redundant for Workstation 7.1, Player 3.1 and also allowing non-server versions on Fusion 3.1. I have posted on that thread how to convert existing guests which use darwin.iso to boot, into a working version for the unlocker.

I have just tried latest Donk release on my ESXi 4.0 U1, but my Snow Leo Server (10.6.0 .iso installation and then 10.6.3 combo upgrade installation) continues to reboot.

I don't understand what's the problem. Can someone explain me what could be the problem. In attachment my vmware.log

Many thanks!

Nobody has an explanation currently, and seems the new version isn't solving the problem. Please remember none of this is supported on ESX and very difficult to get around the problem.

Now some possible news has just arrived whilst typing this! I have been given a private message saying there may be problems with 10.6.3 and new Core i5 and i7 processors which possibly 10.6.4 may solve. If you have that sort of processor maybe try updating to 10.6.2 and see if that works and wait for 10.6.4. (As ADC member I think it is probably getting close.)

I have a DELL R210 with an Intel XEON 3460. I tried also to upgrade to 10.6.2 but the same thing; after upgrade it continues to reboot.

Do you think it's possibily an error related to some kext??? I also read about some problem related to iX processor... I hope it will solve also my problem...

No not possible as the panic in is the guest not VMware. Have you booted with -v -f -x after pressing F8 in the guest at boot time? That may give you more information.

Still not working for me, sadly.

I'm about to give up, and buy a mac mini.

I would have earlier, but it is very complicated to install.

To use an AC power mac mini I will need an inverter (DC) and I will

need to strap the mini in the rack some place that it can't be seen

(since I can't have AC devices in the colo.)

Yes, of course, I try -v -f -x but I'm not able to see what appens because it restart suddenly!

So, could You suggest me something to find out more information about Guest crash???

Donk, thanks for the new ISO but it´s the same like the versions before and the same problem DFox has - kernel panic and reboot :(

Having looked a little more closely the XNU kernel is causing a triple fault which basically is causing the CPU halt and then reboot. The issue is inside the Mac OS X kernel, an may be finding a different non-vanilla kernel may work. Tomorrow I will try and build a beta 4 and add a different kernel, but the problem with this is we would need a new iso for each release of 10.6.

For each release another ISO is bad.

ESXi 4.0 U2 Build 261974 is now available, maybe this brings some improvements?
