Hello

I am having some trouble booting.

I am able to boot into safe mode no problem, but when I try booting normally I can get past the white apple logo screen, but then the blue screen flashes up for about 1 second then it goes to a black screen with just the cursor and will not go any further than this.

I have tried fixing permissions and then reinstalling the audio kexts, but to no avail.

Does anyone have any suggestions or tips?

Thanks

have you disabled usb legacy?

It wasn't disabled, but I did disable it and still have the same problem. Interestingly enough, the blue screen after the apple logo screen was probably up for 5 seconds longer before it went to hang on the black screen.

Here's what I am going to try:

Redo the install following Ufdah's method to the word and then reinstall the kexts in safe mode afterwords and then repair permissions. I will let everyone know how it goes afterwards. If you have any more suggestions in the mean time I would appreciate it.

Thanks

Mike:

Update your existing leopard installation to 10.5.7 if you haven't already done so.

Use carbon copy cloner to clone your working leopard installation to the target hard drive.

Install Chameleon 2 to this volume.

Copy the attached dsdt.aml to the /Extra folder

Remove all injector kexts like HDAEnabler, Disabler, NVKush and all legacy kexts

Copy the attached kexts to /System/Library/Extensions (removing existing versions first). These are the ONLY non-vanilla kexts you need for this mobo when using this dsdt.aml. If you want working Digital audio then use Hexedit to edit the vanilla AppleHDA.kext binary and replace all instances of 8508EC10 with 8808EC10.

Repair permissions

Reboot and you should have working video (dual monitor support), audio, native CPU powermanagement (no VoodooPower.kext)

Good news for this mobo and Snow Leopard 10A380! Works a treat in 64-bit mode with only 4 added kexts, 64-bit version of AppleDecrypt, and above ALC1200.kext. Also need to fix info.plist of IOAHCIFamily.kext (orange icon fix) and a 64-bit version of OpenHaltRestart.kext.

So I did a fresh install and carbon copied my drive over. It started up fine in -f mode, but not in a normal boot (it hung at the grey screen). However, in -f mode it is reeeeeallly slow and I can't get any sound to work through optical.

Any ideas?

So I got the running slow part fixed, but still nothing with the audio. Anyone have any suggestions? I am fairly certain I did the Hexedit part right. How can I tell if I {censored}ed it up?

Hi all...

Ok...driving myself crazy...

My setup:

P5N7A-VM, seagate 7200RPM 1TB HD, 4GB DDR2-800, LG 23" monitor

I've done EVERYTHING to spec and can't get the OS to load without being in safe mode (-x). It's definitely a video problem. First, I followed Ufdah's instructions EXACTLY, and had everything working as expected, but still couldn't boot without being in safe mode. I then followed dgsga's instructions (post #579, pg. 29): updated to 10.5.7, updated to chameleon 2 rc1, deleted all injectors and legacy kexts, replaced with new kexts, and replaced dsdt.aml. The OS ran much better and system profiler recognized everything properly, and fixed the orange icon problem, but STILL wouldn't load unless in safe mode. I tried NVkush in every possible configuration, and replaced the NVCAP values with all other values I could find in this thread. Nothing worked. Finally, I deleted ALL geforce kexts, including NVkush, and the OS booted regularly, but without QE/CI. What am I doing wrong? Oh, I started with a 10.5.4 restore disc and did a combo update to 10.5.7.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

EDIT: GOT IT WORKING!!! Needed to update BIOS from 404 to 407...thanx to all for an immensely helpful thread!

@dgsga

Does your DSDT's, i.e. the same DSDT, work with both regular dual core as for quad core systems?

I think it supports quad core.

I edited the aml with 0xed and saw p001 p002 p003 p004 at the begining.

That is the mod Diabolik suggested for his dsdt to detect 4 cores.

I dunno much about dsdt anyways, but i would give it a try

Plex. Still can't figure it out.

That is strange as Plex works great with my build with this board - both DTS and AC3. Do you get analog output? If so, did you set Plex to send out digital and also ensure that you're using the digital track and not the analog track (if one is present)?

I'm using 10.5.7 with dgsga DSDT with everything working except sound, i tried 1200ALC.kext and frodokenny's AppleHDA with no results, the sound is not even recognized by the OS. I used kexthelper, do i need to put in Extras? Or i'm using the wrong kext? Thanks for all your help.

In windows (other hard disk) is working fine.

For everyone running 5.1 with optical, under "Audio MIDI Setup", can you select multichannel and 5.1 surround. I think this may be my problem. I have tried following this topic http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=87336 and I can not create an aggregate with 6 out, only 4. This is getting so frustrating. I am so close.

So I totally reinstalled via Ufdah's method with all the kext's from that post. I still can't get 5.1. I can get the center and fronts working, but the rear's aren't recognized.

Using this file "http://www.lynnepublishing.com/surround/www_lynnemusic_com_surround_test.ac3

" ,the rear right and left sound comes from the front right and left speakers, respectively.

I managed to get the 6 out on the aggregate device, but can still not get 5.1.

Can someone with working 5.1 post a pic of their audio midi setup to perhaps give me a clue on where I may be going wrong.

So it turned out that the problem was all in my rear speaker wires. THey were both shorting out. THanks for everyone's help. I couldn't have done any of this without you.

Just to clear up the DSDT and audio stuff. I have fiddled with the DSDT again and present what I hope to be a final version. This version supports:

4 cores

audio and video injection

LPC and AHCI injection

Full AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement support. This one took ages, your hackintosh will now CPU throttle, sleep, shutdown, restart without any additional kexts. Note: This particularDSDT will manage speedstep only on a Core2 Quad Q9550, if you have a different CPU then what I suggest you do is dump your SSDT tables in Linux using Roisoft's method. See insanelymac post on ICH9-R USB DSDT fix:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t&p=1172947

Then decompile them using iasl. Then examine the tables containing your P-states. I had four as I have a quad CPU, if you have a Duo you will find 2. In these you will find your P-states under the heading:

Name (SPSS, Package......

Overwrite the values in my decompiled DSDT with yours and it should work.

The ALC1200.kext works only in /S/L/E with vanilla AppleHDA.kext with binary mod (all instances of 8508EC10 changed to 8808EC10)

Hope this helps!

I have a problem with my setup. I moved from an InWin IW-BL631.300BLP (300w PS) case to a Antec NSK2480 MicroATX (380w PS) case and now my USB ports are underpowered. My keyboard and mouse are fine, but when I plug in a USB 8 gb or 2 gb thumb drive, USB bus-powered hard drive, or my Eye TV Hybrid tuner they do not work. However, if I connect a powered USB2 hub to the computer those devices work just fine when connected to the hub. They also worked fine in the InWin case without the hub. Could the Antec power supply be at fault here?

Thanks for all your efforts, i will try as soon as possible (i also have a Q9550), in the setup fase do you install the essentials kext from universal installer (kexts like OpenHaltRestart, Disabler and Decrypter)? Do you need to remove de AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement since the new DSDT full supports it? Thanks once again.

You do NOT need any of the essential kexts from the universal installer, you do need AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext for speedstep. Best way from scratch is to restore a Leopard Retail 10.5.6/7 DVD onto a partition, install Chameleon 2 / PC EFI v10 to that partition, place DSDT.aml in /Extra, Dsmos.kext in /Extra/Extensions then reboot and install from that partition.
