phase1: collect data from linux (in attached)

phase2: read experience..

used this:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=168426

useful but not neccessary those links

this:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=141549

this:

this:

this:

http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/f180/37290.htm

phase3:boot

the boot is done with a usb 8gb hi speed key that has a mac 10.5.6 retail setup + chameleon 2.0 + Extra/Estensions with disabler, appledecrypt and openhaltrestart

the boot stops ad acpi..

phase4: mod

ATTACH: DSDT.rar (ORIGINAL UBUNTU VERSION)

put the DSDT from ubuntu, without any kind of fixes: the boot starts!

woa!!

localhost kernel[0]: Got boot device = IOService:/AppleACPIPlatformExpert/PCI0/AppleACPIPCI/EHC1@1D,7/AppleUSBEHCI/U3 Titanium@fd200000/IOUSBInterface@0/IOUSBMassStorageClass/IOSCSIPeripheralDeviceNub/IOSCSIPeripheralDeviceType00/IOBlockStorageServices/IOBlockStorageDriver/SanDisk U3 Titanium Media/IOFDiskPartitionScheme/Untitled 1@1
Jun 6 18:21:44 localhost kernel[0]: BSD root: disk1s1, major 14, minor 4

what i see

1) acpi is good

2) the boot report problem of invalid ethernet 8169E

3) wlan seems to be ok (log says: /SourceCache/AirPortDriverAtheros5424/AirPortDriverAtheros5424-318.8.3/src/driver/AtherosController.cpp:595] loaded unsuccessfully)

4) video is unrecognized..(GFX0: family specific matching fails) so after the System Login windows service the screen remain in text mode!

then, if I could load video card.. I have mac!

phase5: DSDT mod (ATTACH DSDT.aml.ZIP)

-scope processor is ok

-to enable hpet and use appleintelpower management (not remove it and not use disabler) is necessary to make the acpi recognize as windows2006.. so copy/paste the OSYS method

case -> windows 2006.. and rename the windows2006 word to Darwin

-RTC: remove the row

IRQNoFlags ()

{8}

-replace _T_ with T_

compiled ok (0 err 0 warn) IN ATTACHED

BOOT: OK starts without DISABLER!! wonderful

chameleon: put 1366x768 graph value in boot menu

BOOT into -s mode: IS NECESSARY TO HAVE APPLEPS2 mod for laptops!!!

PHASE6: improve ata CHIPSET US15W ..but: if the system starts.. is it neccessary? boh I'll try with and w/o

using 1st link above that report:

AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext
- US15W fitting(generic)
- correct checksum of Inquirey reply(for SSD SATA adapter)
(mayby, this is also useful for VMWare IDE and IDE->SATA adapter)

so i don't want to use it's kext because in only a plist mod.. then I mod the IOATA retail kext injectong the proper section

the data code is:

IOATAfamily.kext/Content/Plugins/AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext

ADD into the array the code below

<key>SCH ATA/100</key>
 <dict>
 <key>CFBundleIdentifier</key>
 <string>com.apple.driver.AppleIntelPIIXATA</string>
 <key>Controller Name</key>
 <string>SCH ATA/100</string>
 <key>IOClass</key>
 <string>AppleIntelPIIXATARoot</string>
 <key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key>
 <string>0x811a8086</string>
 <key>IOProbeScore</key>
 <integer>2000</integer>
 <key>IOProviderClass</key>
 <string>IOPCIDevice</string>
 <key>Supported Transfer Modes</key>
 <string>0x3f061d</string>
 </dict>

PHASE7: audio

ATTACH: codec0 from linux

trying to use VOODOOHDA0.2.2 last Google Code

PHASE8: Video

chip is GMA500

using PCIFIX.kext from 1st link posted above that report

PCIFix.kext
- GMA500's memory address fix for VESA
- set brightness to 80%

grab and mod video kexts

video id is:

ven_8086 DEV_8108 SUBSYS_02561025

I changed 8108 value in ioprobescore of the info.plist into the pcifix.kext..

put it into E/E

at boot I see the brightness quite lower than before.. but no video !!

sigh

BOOT -x -f -v

.. nada!

so: this evening i must give the laptop to its owner.. sob. let abandon that project for me.. but I hope to buy/have another one soonely!!

bye

can anyone continue the job?

I have the same model from Packard Bell, and is determined to get Mac OS X working on it, after I just got my Intel Based stationary computer running Snow 10.6.2

I will try to follow your findings so far, and I also have the GMA500Enabler.kext, to see if it can do some magic.

I keep your posted

Got some progress

- Started out by making DSDT file from Ubuntu

- Made a Snow Leopard USB installation stick, with RC4 Boot, DSDT file, GMA500Enabler, Disabler, Fakesmc, and some other kexts (not needed I think).

- Started the installation process fine, but the installer is unable to see the HD.

- Installed Snow Leopard on my secondary USB stick, and got almost to the end.

- The installer ended with a 'Fail to install'

- Loaded the RC4 from my first USB stick, and choses my secondary USB stick in the menu.

- Snow is loaded perfect anyway, and is running from my USB stick with a USB mouse connected

I now have to figure out:

1. Why is the HD drive not showing

2. How to get the TouchPad working

3. See if I can get the Wifi network card to work

If I can manage to get these things to work, I think I'm able to make a perfect installation from the USB stick.

*edit* Got the mouse to work with Netbookinstaller, but I'm going to try with Leopard to start with. Still no luck with the Hard drive detection.

But i have no sound still.. But two errors:

Sound assertion “0 != setupHostInterrupt ()” failed in “/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-179.1.4/AppleHDAController/AppleHDAController.cpp” at line 312 goto Exit

and

Sound assertion “!fProvider->open ( this )” failed in “/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-179.1.4/AppleHDAController/AppleHDAController.cpp” at line 234 goto Exit
