zshare sucks, can anyone upload the files on rapidshare or some other hoster?

thanks!

Sounds quite cool, but 10.5.5 can't be avoided forever. Any chances there?

I like this method. Clean and straightforward. Nice!

The firewire interface doesn't seem to work properly though. External hard drive takes ages to mount and respond. Anyone can confirm their firewire works ok with this method? Thxs.

Yes, i can confirm this. i need 10min for a 8gb file to copy from my macbook with target modus.

network over firewire won`t work.

My Setup:

os x 10.5.6 retail inst. P5E-VM HDMI incl onboard graphic, e6600 4gb ram

Finally!! :(

I've been missing out lately i see.. I did try it back when the card was new, but there was just too many problems...

Seems like it's time to try again, i'll guess :(

But i'm having trouble with some of the downloads... Any chance for a repost anyone?

Links not working, are these:

Boot 123 CDROM with modified kexts: http://www.mediafire.com/?1ne1zbl4znv

Bios Settings: http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=3668216...f72223440f1e5d9

Not shure if you will, but if you do have problems with TimeMachine not backing up use this fix: http://tinyurl.com/3bplsb

...So I will be extremely grateful if anyone can help me out!

And, just one question... will boot camp work on this setup?

Thanks!

Edit: Same links seems to be working now.. Downloaded them all :(

Hi M8's

I have been using mac OSX 10.5.5 from iDeneb with my system, and all seems to be ok (a bit slow on the boot, but once I enter in Mac OSX, all is OK).

I tried to update Mac OSX to 10.5.6, but no joy.

I also tried a fresh install on a brand new HD, but when the system boots, I get the white screen with the Apple logo, and some 30 seconds later, the system hags up.

I tried XxX_10.5.6_Leo_Ins tall_Disc_Rev1 with PPF patch apllied, selecting only the default parametres, but it always hangs.

The istalation disk is OK as I managed to install 10.5.6 on a Vaio laptop, and it booted out of the box in VGA 1024x768 mode (the vaio has a problem with the internal display that does not work with the propoer Nvidia Keyts).

Could some one please help me in choosing the right options for my system?

Mobo: Asus P5E-VM HDMI, CPU: Intel Duo Quad Core Q6600, Graphic Card: Saphire ATI HD2600 Pro Pcie, Ram: 8GB DDR2 FSB 800, HDD 500 Gb.

Thanks in advance.

Couple minutes before I would accomplish my installation (from original retail disc), I get message:

"You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button for several seconds or press the restart button."

Do you have any advises?

This thing is driving me crazy. I succeed from installing iPC 10.5.6 all ok, and everything else but firewire (which I really need for recording music) was working like a charm. I do have 10.5.X retail DVD and would like to use that but it keeps giving me that error during install.

Help needed!

Hi, I have this setup and had it working since about two years i think,

Used this thread at first following user Allsop's visdom P5E VM HDMI

Now, I can tell you that the kexts included there still works in 10.5.6.

The question now is: I have this CPU. "Intel Core 2 quad Q6600 2.4Ghz"

Should I follow this threads guide of BIOS settings? Is it of an importance? or will it have a possibility of

damaging my CPU?

I do not have any experience in overclocking so any information is helpful.

Thank you

Hi Enzo1

Seems you and i have a similar hardware setup (except for graphics) I use nvidia 8800GT.

This is how you can do it:

- Install with Kalyway 10.5.2 dvd

choose custom - Disable EVERYTHING, except default vanilla kernel, and the extra fonts.

- After installation. once in osx. I download the 10.5.6 combo update. Now before Installing it you need to open the terminal and run this command:

"sudo -s

while sleep 1; do rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext; done"

Without quotes!

That will keep the os from not freezing during the update!

After the installation DO NOT click restart!

In a new terminal window, Type

"nano /System/InstallAtStartup/scripts/1"

Now Replace the line Dont Steal Mac OS X.kext with dsmos.kext

Restart and boot with -v

Then during boot-up the system will restart once, and then boot into osx as usual.

When it comes to the graphics card you have, I don't know if there are drivers for it.

I do however, know that there are drivers for the built in graphics X3500/G35 HERE!

I did try those driver, Worked fine except no Quarts Extreme.

If you have more questions feel free to ask.

I am not sure if you guys can help, but I might post over on Fuzy's P5E-VM HDMI thread too. So, I installed via retail with 123-boot. Did 10.5.2 update then the chameleon bootloader Fuzy had, then updated to 10.5.4 then 10.5.5 and after the last did the kexts Fuzy used

AppleHDA

AttansicL1Ethernet

IONetworkingFamily (assume the one ToH edited for the board)

SMBIOSResolver

I am getting funny errors if I try to open system profiler (which doesn't open), and there is no report generated. From the console, this is the error

com.apple.launch[88] ([0x0-0x11011].com.apple.SystemProfiler[131]) Exited abnormally: Floating point exception

I am wondering if it is the SMBIOSResolver, and whether or not the AppleSMBIOS might work better, and whether I should use a specific 10.5.5 version? Also, maybe switching to EFIv9 would help, though I don't know if I can run that on top of my already Chameleon modified boot? Or would a DSDT patcher help? Really clueless here.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I also used the X3500 kext, and at the moment only have VGA output working, but since I can't check things on the system profiler, it is hard to trouble shoot. Another thing there is that after adding the 3500 kexts (and the other bundle ad OpenGL), when I go to open screen saver/desktop, I get a similar crash as the system profiler. Any thoughts there would be greatly appreciated too, but I think it might be linked to the SMBIOS issues.

Thanks again if you have a second to check this.

Can get BIOS settings if you think that might help too.

I got it installed as I tried with asci, but it wasn't runing properly. I'll figure something out...

Hi OsHEx

Thanks for your kind reply.

After struggling for some time, I managed to install the new 10.5.6 version on my system.

It all seems to work properly, but my ATI graphic card HD2600pro does not seem to manage Quartz Extreme through DVI/HDMI. It seems to be a problem that still has no solution.

I also tried the built-in graphics X3500/G35, but with the same result.

I'm thinking of swapping the graphic card for an Asus GeForce 9400GT, and was wondering if you could give me any tips regarding the driver installation for nVidia Graphics Cards & Chipsets.

Regarding your (ours) Intel Core 2 quad Q6600 2.4Ghz, after reading in different forums about over clocking this particular CPU, I tried the simplest thing I found and it worked:

Enter Bios at stat up, go to the Advanced tab, Jumper free configuration, set AI Over clocking to Manual, and introduced 355 in the FSB Frequency (instead of 266). Saved and rebooted.

My CPU is now working at 3.195 GHz.

VERY IMPORTANT: You need to have a good cooling system, as the processor is going to work at a faster frequency.

I changed the default CPU cooler for a "SCYTHE Ninja Mini" cooler, and the CPU temperature is always around 40º.

I hope this helps, and thanks again for your tips.

Hi,

im searching for a new 2x2gb ram-kit for the p5e-vm hdmi.

since our board only supports tRFC-values up to 42, which is a lower value then all 2x2gb kit out there officially need, i would be glad if you could tell me some exact model names of 2x2gb ram-kits you are using without stability problems.

many thanks! :)
