Hi..

I've successfully installed SL, and everything is working perfectly except for my graphics card. It's a BFG GeForce 210 512MB (Dual-Link DVI-I, HDMI 1.3a, VGA.. more info http://www.bfgtech.com/bfgr210512d2e.aspx) . I've tried NVEnabler, NVinject, Natit, This, editing my dsdt, and chameleon graphics enabler. I either end up with being able to change my resolution (which leads to a blue screen) and with no QE/CI. Or if I use NVEnabler the desktop loads and it appears QE/CI is enabled (transparent bar at top) but everything is frozen. I've tried every possible solution I could find, but still no luck.. Anybody have any idea on what I can do to get it working? Thanks!!

Additional details:

10.6 Vanilla

Dual-core 6500 2.93 GHz

MSI G31TM-P21 motherboard

using VGA monitor if that matters

First things first...does the on-board video work without the card installed?

Okay, so I bought a VGA to DVI adapter. I no longer get a black screen with monitor light flashing for any methods, but it will still boot and it's almost frozen aftyer it loads. I have the translucent menu bar, but it's all frozen, I get some responsiveness from it every few minutes but thats all.. Any help please? :/

I just had the same problem with a GeForce 220 GT. Went from one resolution, and no QE/CI in 10.5.8 to working perfectly in 10.6.0 - and now with 10.6.2 I still have QE/CI, and all resolutions, but my desktop is seriously F'ed up !

The desktop comes up slowly in "chunks", often with odd artifacts in the menu bar and dock. The longer I let it sit, the more "normal" it looks, as if it's just having trouble loading. However, if you try to click on anything or actually use it, the response is horribly slow - like you click on the Apple menu, and a minute later the drop down appears. Completely unusable (the mouse pointer moves normally).

I also lost access to my USB flash drives - but my USB wireless mouse works, so it's not just USB in general.

(I fixed this, but can't remember how - must be a kext, as I lose them again in safe boot)

I also lost audio from 10.5.8 to 10.6. No change with 10.6.2. I read that voodooHDA will fix that, but can't test it because my desktop is unresponsive !

The system DOES work in safe boot mode.

I backed up and restored my extensions (both in "Extra" and S/L/E).

I replaced the NVresman and NVDH-whatever-50.kexts with the original 10.6.0 ones extracted from the retail DVD with Pacifist. This _seemed_ to make it a little better - more of the desktop loads at once, but is still unresponsive.

I'm pretty sure this has to be a wayward kext, since it works in safe boot - any ideas anyone ?

Note: I just realized I lost my QE/CI possibly because I replaced those NVRes./NVD.kexts or in 32bit, as those are the only differences since my last boot. Hmmm.

Looks like I'm going back to 10.6.0/1 unless someone can help.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Problem is worse in 64bit mode - desktop loads more slowly & in smaller "chunks".
