Start your weekend off with a visit to Apple's recently redesigned website and tell us what you think. If you have a lot of free time on your hands, make sure to watch the 1 hour and 30 minute Apple WWDC 2007 Keynote. If you don't have time to sit through the whole presentation, read about it on InsanelyMac's WWDC Roundup. Next on the list - full specifications and details of Apple's iPhone, which is going to be released on June 29th, have been published.

If you're a fan of optical illusions, this one will have you confused until you see the proper way it should be viewed! Was Steve Jobs right to stop the trend of releasing a new abstract Apple wallpaper with each OS X release? Either way, this is for everyone who found themselves liking the new default Leopard wallpaper! If you're someone who likes to theme your Mac, why not try out Liger - the ShapeShifter guiKit to replicate Leopard's theme.

And be sure to check out aprilfools1993 fantastic Mac mini in a PC case mod! Last but not least, sev7en has done a brilliant job on creating an extremely in-depth guide for installing and configuring OS X on a Sony Vaio UX UMPC.

That's it for now - have a nice weekend,

    WWDC Roundup

    By Alex Oughton, in OSx86,

Steve Jobs has just finished his WWDC keynote, and so it's time for InsanelyMac's roundup of the biggest Apple news from this year's conference!

    Gaming

EA have announced that they are to return to publishing games for the Mac. Command and Conquer 3, Battlefield 2142, Need For Speed Carbon, and Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix will be released for the Mac in July, with Madden 08 and Tiger Woods 08 also due for release. EA have announced that future games will see simultaneous releases for the Mac with their PC versions.

    Leopard

Apple announced several as-yet unseen interface enhancements for Leopard, including a new dock and menu bar. The Finder has also been updated with an iTunes-esque sidebar and coverflow mode. Improved integration with .mac brings the "Back To My Mac" feature, allowing .mac subscribers to send files to their Mac from any Internet-connected Mac. "Stacks" was also introduced, bringing a new method for file and application organisation.

Check out a summary of Leopard's new features here.

iPhone Release Date, And Developer Tools

Apple announced that the iPhone would be released on June 29th in the United States. It was also announced that third-party developers would be able to develop limited applications for the iPhone, which would run within the mobile version of Safari.

    Safari For Windows

Perhaps the biggest and most surprising announcement, Safari is being released for Windows XP and Vista systems. Citing their expertise with bringing iTunes to millions of Windows users, Apple believes it has a fair shot at the PC browser market, and hopes to offer PC users another glimpse into the benefits of Apple software.

Both Mac and Windows users can take part in the Safari 3 Beta, free of charge.

First on the list is a free online backup storage service called Mozy (the link to the left is a referral link - why not sign up with that and post yours below?). The free package offers 2GB of space and comes with its own application to make things much easier. If you haven't seen it already, check out Uncyclopedia and share what you find on the forums! With WWDC coming up, why not relive some old Apple bloopers from past events? Check out Microsoft's latest developments with Microsoft Surface and let us know what you think.

For those of you who missed it, be sure to check out the 75-minute D5 interview featuring Jobs and Gates. LogMeIn have updated their remote desktop software to work with OS X - let us know your opinion and whether you know of any better remote desktop clients. For those of you who haven't already heard, Parallels 3.0 has been released, allowing full 3D GPU emulation. However, VMWare Fusion, a competitor in the same market as Parallels, has a surprise up its sleeves. It is currently in beta so get it while you can!

Last, but not least, with the new MacBook Pro's comes new OSx86 drivers! Be sure to help out as much as you can, and if you own a GeForce 8 series graphics card, then add that link to your bookmarks!

As usual, have a nice weekend.

Yesterday, Apple announced that AppleTV will soon be able to stream YouTube content right over the internet to your TV. AppleTV will provide it's own beautiful interface for viewing the YouTube content, and users will be able to navigate through with their Apple Remote. Apple said that they will provide a software update in mid-June to enable this feature.

Along with the YouTube update for AppleTV, Apple will also be offering a new AppleTV build-to-order option that includes a 160GB hard drive. The larger hard drive option is ideal for storing movies and videos that might take up valuable hard drive space on your Mac or PC. The hard drive upgrade is also able to hold 200 hours of video, 25,000 pictures, or 36,000 songs.

According to ThinkSecret, Apple are looking to update their Macbook Pro range with LED-backlit displays next month:
"Apple placed its first order in mid-April looking for in excess of 100,000 15.4-inch LED backlight displays...Based on Apple's standard schedule that it has used in the past, it would allow for a three to four week window to manufacture and ship"

This could well coincide with the Worldwide Developer's Conference, which opens with a speech from Steve Jobs on Monday June 11th.

This story does seem to be a little speculative to us, but it does at least agree with a Digitimes report which is along the same lines.

ThinkSecret suggest that Apple are not planning to update the MacBook line until the third quarter of this year.
