I used a browser add-on called FreeStyler to create a style called "InsanelyMac single space" which lets you change the line-height from the current value of 2. The default in my style is 1.6 which seems to be the height used in preview and edit mode.

I guess the icons could be made a little smaller...? So they can better fit the screen...? I don't have any issues on my side, but I guess it could be specific to my setup.

One thing I would really like, now that I remembered about it, is an option for Indent/Outdent. I guess that would be two options. :))

You need a rather wide screen and wide browser window to get all editor's icons when editing an existing post.

The culprits are these sidebar blocks (we need to keep the ads showing for fubra), very badly placed, IMO - If you're using any styling plugin for browsers, you can easily hide them and all editor's icons should perfectly appear.

Yep, as @joevt reported, the default value is 2, decreasing that value to 1.6 (or 1.5) will be much better, especially in the signatures.

Also I suggest to put comment control items side by side with react button - In that way, the signatures space hight will appear even more reduced.

By default they are like that IIRC, but our theme repositioned them. Not a bad change, might need to tone down the green a bit so it isn't overpowering, so I'll add it to the todo list :)

Updated the line-height!

Who the hell is this arsradu guy? He keeps getting quoted everywhere. :))

Nice change, guys. :) I think it definitely looks better, a bit more compact. Thank you! :)

Guys, before I forget, I don't know why, but from time to time, trying to use the left arrow key to edit something I wrote in a post, doesn't work. I don't know why. It's just that I can't move the cursor to where I want it, using the arrow keys. I can still use the mouse and click where I want. But...you need to switch to mouse, then keyboard again, cause obviously you can't type with your mouse. :)) So yeah..it's not really efficient. I'll keep trying to reproduce it. But maybe some of you guys noticed this already?

Hey Hervé,

I suggest you to install Ka-Block!.app, which is a free app that was suggested by @Pavo. You can download it from the App Store, then you will never see any kind of add. From the time i used it, no adds. I'm like you, i use Safari as defaults web browser.

just block/hide the ads will not help - As I said, these ads are inside sidebar blocks, you need to hide them to obtain the expected result (to get all editor's icons when editing an existing post).

I wasn't talking about the problem of the editor's bar when editing a post. I've just seen that @Hervé have the adds, and i only had the need, to suggest to him this app, that stop adds or hide them, but nothing related to the problem of that editor's bar. Because i already know that, just because my laptop have only 1366 x 768 resolution screen, then, with the help of @SavageAUS, i used the Resolutionator app, that helps to maximize screen resolution even if it's not supported by the laptop-monitor.

Are they? It is kinda funny, when IM team was ridiculing us 4 months ago:

As we solved all issues within less than 3 weeks. And did offer my help multiple times already. I'm just 1 PM away, you know. ;) And the amount of ads currently in the IM site? Gee, unlike anything I've seen before.

I've been through that thread twice now, and all I can find is words of encouragement and our staff wanting to know when your site would be back online: "Good luck!/The Forum are amazing, congrats for your efforts!/Congrats for all efforts of OSXLatitude crew". That's hardly the ridicule of which you accuse them ;)

On a related note, I remember we too had issues with the utf8 converter and a legacy character encoding that littered "?" over our content. @smx was a rockstar and helped me build our own converter that was much more robust at fixing character issues :)

Yes, we are working hard fixing things up! We moved servers last week, and the performance has been significantly more reliable than in the past. You can see a really nice downward trend on the site loading time :)

image.png

I've also been fixing up several skin issues that were on the TODO list, and have a few ideas percolating on an improved front page. On my current TODO list is to: (1) restore the chat, (2) improve the rules page to be simpler, (3) redesign the homepage, and (4) finish fixing the theme issues

From a management perspective, running this site is significantly more complex than your own since we do not own the site. This means until last week we didn't have access to the live server, we can't make revenue/ads changes, can't make large changes without some oversight and overall have significantly less control over our future. We do the best we can given the resources we have, and I do believe we are on the right track going forward :)

This site has been through quite the history behind the scenes, and in some ways it's amazing we're still here :p

I always appreciate specific actionable feedback :) . I'm not sure about video width embedding - having it resize based on the users monitor seems the most intuitive, although I do have a small screen so they are usually quite narrow and natural. Any recommendation on the width?
