Today's Showtime schedule?

Colonel

A last-minute rumor has been floating around about the schedule of today's media event. TUAW has the timeline.

...Let's just say I have been informed by a little reliable birdy about Tomorrow's event. The line-up will follow this similar structure:

* Welcoming of Media Members

* Discussion on iTunes software, iTMS integration into iTunes, and iTMS sales and facts.

* Announcement of iTunes version 7.0

* Announces better search feature for Music Store

* Announces Movie Store. Available Immediately will be movies from Disney and Pixar, among other studios.

* New iPod Nano Announcement (nice brushed casing, while it will have same features as first gen, only a longer battery life)

* New iPod Announcement (Widescreen, Bluetooth, and featuring virtual touchweel. Does not include Wi-Fi, or any other protocols)

* One More Thing....TubePort. A $99 2-piece set that includes a dongle that connects via USB to your mac, and another dongle that connects via included HD cables or regular Component cables to your TV. The movie is accessed on your Mac via an iDisk-like storage component hosted by Apple.

Jobs will then explain the pricing structure of the Movie Store. Movies will be available as either a smaller iPod-format (which will cost $9.99 per movie), or as a larger, streamed movie to be streamed to your TV via TubePort. This cost $14.99 per movie. To purchase an iPod-formatted movie and a streamed version of the same movie, it will cost you $19.99.

Just keep in mind that all this is hearsay, so there's no guarantee it is accurate. "Tubeport?" Please let that name be fake. Showtime begins in a few hours...

Mash's Edit: Note that the "iTunes Store" (and while you're noting, note that name change) is down due to "upgrading."

This figures. The folks at hymn finally crack iTunes 6.0 DRM and they update the version a week later.

I sincerely hope that there's no movie store. I can't seem to say this enough: iTunes is for music, not video or movies.

I just want the new ipods to be released so i can get one. the widescreen would be awsome for movies, just so battery life doesn't turn out to suck because of it. don't really care about bluetooth, i can't see any major plus to this, only a decrease in battery life. movies in itunes doesn't really matter, i already just put movies from my dvds using handbrake.

* One More Thing.... Media Mac. A $1299 - 1799 Core 2 Duo (Conroe) HTPC / MidTower with two PCIe 16x slots, two external 5.25 bays and two internal 3.25 bays and expandable to 8GB RAM (4 DDR2 slots).

LOL, While I'd like to see that too, that sounds like the new "Mac", as opposed to the "Mac Pro".

What I would like to see for Media is the following. The box you just mentioned, ie: the "Mac" with tuner capabilities or multiple tuners, that I can put in the basement or out of the way. I can put my DVDs on this box as well.

A second box, mini form factor, expanded to 6"x10", with 3.5" hard drive, using frontrow, that I can connect to my TV with either DVI, HDMI, or component. With this I can control the tv recording process on the above machine, watch the recorded programs, or go live to the tuner and get a live stream from the above box, which is cached locally, so I can do, pause, rewind, etc on the live stream. The connection to the first box can be through remote desktop if necessary. This box can be a firmware only box or can run OSX as a mini would.

A third box, airport express form factor, maybe a little bigger, no hard drive, controlled with frontrow, providing TV output in dvi, or s-video. I can control the first machine recording process through the frontrow interface, play recorded tv from the first box, or watch live tv from the tuner in the first box, but has no capability for pause, rewind, etc, only watch the live stream. This box is a firmware only box.

This would make life wonderful and allow me to get rid of the MCE and MCE extender POS that I'm currently using.

Oh, "One More Thing"

The ability for both boxes connected to the TVs to window the TV tuners, allowing me to open a window and view the broadcast, or open another window to view a recorded program, with sound coming from the active window. Ability to open 4 windows on the TV at once.

Spaces for my TV, yeeaahhh.

I will {censored} my pants if they release a new iPod. Naturally, my girlfriend will hate it because I'll be saving $50 out of each paycheck until I can afford one. :(

Too funny,

I will {censored} my pants if they release a new iPod. Naturally, my girlfriend will hate it because I'll be saving $50 out of each paycheck until I can afford one. :(

I think she'll hate it if you {censored} your pants.

I save 50 bucks weekly out of my paychecks to buy geek stuff that I want. My wife has finally come to accept that this is part of marrying a geek.

Hope your girlfriend comes to the same realization.

Nope, I checked. The speeds went up but the price was the same and there was solo. That is a killer price for a duo.

When the refreshed the minis last week, they put the coreduo 1.66 in the low end and the 1.83 in the high end, and kept the prices the same as the previous solo and duo.
