Red MacBooks and iMacs on the Way?

Colonel

Just days after the release of the new red (RED) iPod, rumors have begun forming about red (RED) MacBooks and iMacs. Think secret has the scoop:

While sources were unable to explain exactly why, Apple CEO Steve Jobs is said to have had reservations about billing the player as simply the iPod nano (RED), despite Bono's desire to keep the naming convention consistant with other (RED) products.

Sources say the iPod's name was the final point of consideration in negotiations to bring the (RED) iPod to market.

Still unknown is whether Apple will be bringing more products to the (RED) campaign, although that answer is likely to lie at least partially with how well the iPod nano sells. Sources have reported that Mr. Jobs and Bono have discussed bringing a (RED) iMac and (RED) MacBook to market, as well.

Red Macs that are now capable of the Blue Screen of Death... and (according to environmentalists) aren't very green. Anyone else want to stick with white?

Anyone else want to stick with white?

honest question... does it bother you that someone may be able to have a wider array of possible colours for their 3000 dollar system that they are looking to buy?

it's not as if they're going to RED and RED only.

It's not a big deal to those who already have a white or black, or are purchasing a white or black system, is it?

Who said these machines are BSOD-ready? If they are, there must be some significant changes other than color in these machines. This also means we can expect changes and perhaps BSODs in future generations of mac.

hmm ya, I can't imagine a Mac Book in that same shade of Red that the Nani has. I really don't even like the black Mac Books. They are just to plastic looking then. They just look cheap in any other color than white.

and skredii, at least use a bit of photoshop or the like to brighten the picture. then it might look like a legit fake.

Are the new Macbooks going to have the same aluminum casing as the iPod Nanos? I can't see Apple making a red glossy Macbook using the same material that the current white and black models have. That would look disgusting.

I know ThinkSecret has been credible, but I think this isn't going to happen. Every fiber within me feels that it is just a speculated possibility that will never make it to shelves.

Takuro, the black MBs aren't really glossy in my opinion. More of a matte finish. There's been speculation before of red ones but I don't really think it will happen. The picture isn't real in my opinion but we'll see. I sitll like my black one better.

RED Mini is not SO UGLY as RED iMac.... and colorful Mini is not bad idea, but other Macs - BAD....

does anyone see RED displays?

nope? why do you think ?

it's not good for your eyes to look on display wich have a colorful enclosure.

almost displays are in grey or silver , maybe black or white...

because if they was in any colors our eyes will become irritated throught some minutes after work on it...

Bono could make SOOOOOOOOOO MUUUUUUUCHHH more money if he didnt sell (RED) products, what matters is the goal, ,and the goal is gaining money to help with AIDS not to sell (RED) products,

or maybe Bono is colorblind and thinks that red's gray is better than others color's gray xD

Does anyone else think $10 is a pitiful amount for apple to donate? The new nano has a gross margin of around 50% - considering they are only donating on sales of (RED) nanos it would hardly have killed them to donate a bit more. For all we like to vilify microsoft you know that Bill would have donated way more.

There aren't really any additional costs - especially if you consider it an extension to a pre-existing product line for which the advertising and R&D costs are already accounted for. The only additional cost is adding in another colour to the annodiser machine - but i'm sure that's just a matter of one Korean going to a store cupboard and picking out another pigment...
