Just as I suspected: the iMac was about perfect, and the only way to improve it would be to make it even more like it already was. I still love my "old" 24, but this new incarnation is like having the most beautiful girl you ever knew show up at your door with frosted hair and a tighter sweater.

They look real nice and the 2600 Pro will be a nice add, but I was hoping for less cosmetics and more content. I'll probably still get one, but I was really wanting at least one eSATA connection or a pci express slot for expansion. I haven't tried it on my Mac Pro, but is anyone doing any serious HD editing on firewire with the iMacs?

i was thinking

the keyboard white keys are sucks

in my opinion it doesn't match with the new imac aluminium/black glass

maybe a "black keys replacement" could be made by some 3rd party accessories sellers?

or apple take note of this and release the new slim keyboard with black keys?

well anyway

the probably version i will can get is the 20'' one...

I love the base model plus 1 more gig ram. I wish Apple woud let you upgrade video cards like they use to in the purchasing. Use to you could put almost any card/drive in them. Still, killer system for $1199.

It looks better with white keys then it would have with black keys. I'm sure they tested both versions with people before deciding on the white keys. The key size is nice too. I LOVE where the power button is, very Apple-ish ;) Just wish it had backlighting on the keys. However you can't really complain when you see how little they charge for each version of the keyboard. They could easily have charged much more for them.

I'm taking a new job here in the next couple of weeks...wonder if the new employer would be willing to let me get one! :) Man, that's a nice looking machine.

The new keyboards are essentially MacBook keyboards, and probably type very similar. I still prefer the previous gen white Apple Pro Keyboards. I would use mine with the new iMac's for sure and toss that "laptop" keyboard out the window :P

I'm annoyed that there isn't a wireless keyboard offering that has the same form factor as the wired keyboard, just wireless.

The idea that a wireless keyboard must be for a portable machine and thus not need a num pad and must include a function key is misguided.

I want the same full sized keyboard, just without a cable.

I agree with you Shimms, but I don't think they do it just for portability. All companies do this now. The new high end Microsoft 8000 keyboard doesn't come with a number pad either, and it costs 2-300.00 :( Their thinking is that the number pad is redundant since it already has a number pad on top. The problem with that is that no one is used to using that one :(

they remind me of the iPhone a bit. But they're steering away from the all white enclousures that they've had for almost 5 years.

Yes, they are, and I never thought that I would admit this, but I'm glad.

The aluminum enclosures are much better, in many ways, than the white ones. I first figured this out when I switched from an iBook to a PowerBook. The powerbook has no scratches on it, whereas the iBook was FULL of them. And I'm rougher with my PowerBook. The difference is also visible with the iPods: the nanos never scratch. The full-sized need protection, or they're like an Aids-free African in Haiti...

Yes, I at first also hated this. I still would, If it didn't happen to fit my desk perfectly.

You know those pull-out keyboard/mouse platforms that almost every desk has? Well thanks to the smaller size, I can now use both my wireless mighty mouse and Apple keyboard on there at the same time. But jeeze, I'd otherwise be P-I-S-S-E-D.
