I just restored all the Intel kext files from 10.4.4 and everything is working for me now. I have my resolution options and QE+CI.

What Video Card do you have? I've got a ATI 9600 Radeon Pro (128MB), think what you did will work for me?

Which kext's did you restore from 10.4.4 and how?

Do you still have the occasional atrifacts / tearing when not using the Mousepose workaround?

Not having the full capabilites of my Video Card is one of the main hurtles that is preventing me from using this as my main OS.

That, getting my wireless card to work ( Prism(GT) based, no drivers out that work yet :sorcerer: ), and Power Management ( this is all on my laptop ) are the only things that are holding me back.

It's in the sig. :sorcerer:

would you mind listing all the files you changed?

Thanks

I replaced the following extensions with their 10.4.4 versions:

AppleIntel915.kext

AppleIntel915GA.plugin

AppleIntel915GL.bundle

AppleIntergratedFramebuffer.kext

After replacing those files I deleted Extensions.kextcache and Extensions.mkext from /System/Library/. I then repaired permissions and rebooted.

Only replace AppleIntergratedFramebuffer.kext...

I was able to get resolution change/dual monitor back with my GMA 950 by just putting back the old AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext, it appears it was the only intel graphics related file that changed.

QE/CI still working fine.

That did it for me!

Thanks a bunch. 10.4.5 is now perfect.

and it's much faster?? Xbench of 95.62

(my laptop != on-board video :glare:)

Garg! :pirate2: On-board video!!! You have won this battle at graphic performance for now, but one of these days, the ATI/nVidia Drivers will reign supreme!

*prays to the almighty demigod of osx86, maxxuss, in hopes of making that day come sooner than later* :thumbsdown_anim:

I tried replacing the intel kexts of 10.4.5 with 10.4.4 and it works fine but when doing an xbench run on both I get 68-71 using the 10.4.4 kexts while I get 80-82 using the 10.4.5 kexts. Right now I'm sticking with the 10.4.5 kexts using the "Graphics Mode"="1280x1024x32@85" Kernel Flags.

Your benchmark are only faster because you've effectively disabled graphics features by using the 10.4.5 kexts as they don't load properly (the framework kext gives effects like cursorshadow and controls power management)

Apple has changed the framework kext to use the IO ACPI framework and this causes it to fail on our systems (possibly because of the new kernel APCI features that we don't have as we don't use the new kernel)

Its king of interesting that Apple are still working on the on board Intel GMA drivers, maybe a budget Intel Mac is just about to be released...
