failurbydesign Posted April 12, 2008 Share Posted April 12, 2008 From what i read, i need an intel C2D or C2dQ in order to get efi working, with efi working i can install updates without have an issue? im just a little confused on how this all work, can someone point me in the right direction? And even with EFI, you cannot just install System Updates without saving and then restoring some files (Intel only, don't know for AMD) : -AppleSMBIOS.kext -System.kext (not sure you need to save it) -AppleACPIPlatform.kext (for laptop and PS/2 devices users) -AppleHDA.kext (for HD Audio cards not officially supported by apple) -mach_kernel (only if you do not use vanilla kernel) I hope this is help you a little Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/98934-how-to-update-without-an-issue/#findComment-706560 Share on other sites More sharing options...

The computer i ordered has that processor, will i need to back up any files when i update if i install efi?
