IONetworkingFamily.kext from the 10.4.3 probably needs to move over to the 10.4.4.

Remember there are steps to take after changing files in /System/Library/Extensions:

sudo -s

(give password)

cd /System/Library/Extensions

rm Extensions.mkext Extensions.kextcache

(no problem if one or both files don't exist)

chown -R root:wheel *.kext

kextcache -k /System/Library/Extensions

(exit terminal)

Applications > Disk Utility > select your volume and repair permissions

Quit and reboot.

WORKED FOR MY 10.4.4 (I found this information somewhere here)

I have had no luck with this or any other solutions I found online. I am still getting the cord not plugged in error under system prefs networking. Everything works fine in XP but it seems no matter what I do I can't the network to work.

I was using a Realtek card that was supposed to work native. I have since moved on to the dlink DFE-530TX but still no luck.

Any ideas?
