I have these problems:

Auto-Login doesn't work. Checked all the settings in the System Preferences, but I always have to enter my password after a reboot!

Also, the boot process stalls for a few seconds and then says somthing like "IOKitWaitQuit....". Any idea?

I do have problems with the ATI card like Takuro described.

I think I will change back to 10.4.4 for the time being.

i am also getting the IOKitWaitQuiet error... and it takes about 1min more to boot 10.4.5 because

of it. Also everything seems to be running a lot slower with this error. I had installed 1044 and upgraded

to 1045 earlier and everything worked fine but i had to format cause i f***ed up my install...

anyone have any idea how to stop this error?

I noticed when sending even the simplest emails, Mail 2.0.6 (10.4.5 Intel) is slow. I wonder if it is phoning home everytime an email is sent.

Great job Maxxuss.

However OSx86 project, you might want to tone down your front page stories or just put them on the back page. Are you trying to p*ss Apple off? They may put a hardware lock or a mini PowerPC chip inside their new macs making this more difficult for Generic x86 fans.

I tried installing 10.4.3, patched and whatnot, and as soon as it got to the part of setup where you choose a drive, it never showed anythign other than the DVD-RW drive it was booting from :\. It was formatted to AF format, I can't figure out why it'd do that. Any ideas? I partitioned my 250GB SATA drive, maybe that has something to do with it?

Why doesn't Maxxuss concentrate his efforts on producing a USB BOOTABLE PATCH and encouraging everybody to use it together with a LEGALLY purchased MACOSX DVD.

Guess maxxuss refraining from distributing patched OSX DVDs would make it harder for lawyers to make a case, and, in fact, could help the Mac platform.

This is possibly due to the fact that the 10.4.3 install disk does not contain the correct SATA kexts in my case AppleVIAATA.kext if this is not on the DVD you will not be able to install try patching the dvd if possible although in my case I have also a PATA drive and installed it there then got the AppleVIAATA.kext file and had access to my SATA devices

Hope this helps

Exact same experience, step for step here, although dmgs are fine for me, but Auto-login and Networking in Preferences are not. I have an Asus P4C800E-Deluxe with Intel CT PRO gigabit LAN; it's a bit of an uncommon chipset so I'm not surprised IONetworking.kext doesn't still fully supportit.

I can't go over the step where the driver is not loaded.

I tried putting the pkg directly in the desktop, but I get an error message that the /*Volumes*/ is a wrong directoy.

Anyone can help?

Thanks!

Mount .dmg

This was posted a couple weeks back and it worked.

Reboot to your 10.4.3 installation and repair disk permissions on your 10.4.4 volume. Reboot 10.4.4 and repair permissions on it. Now you can mount .dmg 's

One reason to keep you 10.4.3 around.

Is the lesser of the latest mini mac of the new cpu architecure as it's not dual core.

maxxuss,

The "non-mac hardware" effect is not entirely true. In your blog you mention power management and HPET support. While the Core Duo (and their respective motherboard chipsets) support these features, they are not exclusive to the Apple Core Duo Macs. These are new features which will take time to grow in the market.

In my configuration, the newer Pentium D 'Presler' CPU's and D975 chipset support HPET. I believe the power management features you mention are also supported (SMC? VIIV?). The Intel D975 board I have even uses EFI, but because of its CSM use it is well hidden (I have not been able to access it yet).

I would have no problems testing any 8.5.1 kernel work. I also own an iMac Core Duo. Feel free to contact me via PM.

I'm agree with jerbare, acording to this document

Since BIOS 3239 (for motherboards D945GXX) have support for HPET so all of us with D945 boards can test 10.4.5 kernel, maxxuss pm me, I would like to test that kernel too.

i had installed 10.4.5 yesterday with a fresh install of installable dvd and all patchs applyed.

it just give a **** downgrade from 10.4.3 (F1099), seriously

i think this {censored} is running more slower here

bootup on spinball take me 25sec now (first or anyother bootup)

gui startup take me 8sec now

I'm really not happy with this at all, i know maxxuss give up much of harder work who no one can do for us

but honesty.. it need very other optimizations for SSE2 users (now when i install something, my mouse got a lag!! LOL)

i will still waiting for better sse2 optimizations, like that we cant go be happy..

hmm, I used to be able to boot staight to 10.4.5 in less than 15sec from bios to desktop. the only thing that got really annoying is the mouse issue. So back to 10.4.4 for me. Waiting for the real 10.4.5 kernel to be released. Maybe then i'll decided to go back to 10.4.5.

look at some of the your previouse version kexts. watch for the dates, for example november and december ones. back up the orig if they exist and copy the older ones to the new extensions. also look at the logs. just a guess but i'm thinking it's calling for something.

the kernel or patches really need urgency improvements and update to run more better

lets wait the maxxuss next rls.

@evolt

if you have the restore disc, yes you must follow the instruction on maxxuss page

but if you got the install dvd with patches, you can format your hfs+ disk and install straight on it.
