Detosx
Kills Kalyway's ability to shutdown but works with iATKOS - up until you install Leopard Graphics Update and then you have the same shutdown problem. In both cases Vanilla/EFI/MBR - sound is ALC628 ** If you use your laptop on the road, uninstall that AppleHDA.kext. If you fail to notice that your laptop hasn't shutdown fully - the screen is black, suggesting you're shutdown and unless the power LED is prominant it's easy to overlook - your laptop can end up cooking in your carry bag. No thermal cut out circuit saved my HPDV6205US. **

Video GMA950 Natit.kext+integratedbuffer without taruga's alc268 patcher=shutdown Taruga's alc268 without natit.kext and integratedbuffer=shutdown Natit.kext+integratedbuffer+taruga's alc268 patcher=No Shutdown. It seems Natit.kext and Alc268 patcher can not co exist on my MACer laptop. By the way also tried the GMA950 GFX string no mouse tearing but no shutdown with Alc268 patcher. jack-willi
i read some where that if you replace the AppleAHCIiplattform with the orginal one , it will work. But i have not tried since i dont have it. ( Now if AppleHDA.kext and ACLinject.kext are deleted, shutdown OK )
jack-willi
sorry, i mean AppleACPIPlatform.kext . i have one with version 1.0.3 . When I tried to replace with the vanilla 1.2.1 , my Laptop hang after loading the kext. But there are many who used the vanilla one. How?
collit99
be aware, you might kill your mouse and keyboard if you use the vanilla ACPIplatform.

jack-willi
I don't understand why the laptop isn't shutdowned completely. The restart function run without problem, that mean , the laptop is shutdowned normal, before it restarts.
Detosx
If you remove the AppleHDA.kext and repair permissions you should find shutdown works. In my case it was always AppleHDA.kext, modded by the Taruga patch. I'm told a 10.5.2 compatible one is being worked on. If you're using a laptop and want to avoid any risk of it frying, shut down is more imporant that sound from the headphone socket and a working microphone socket. Besides, you can get a USB soundcard, which are cheap and excellent, though check for os x compatibility first.
00diabolic
damn i to wish there was a fix for this. I cant stand not being able to shutdown. My laptop has almost over heated on me like 3 times because i did not notice it was not shutdown. I also have a post on taruga forum and alc862 and shutdown, no volume and skipping problems. He said he would look into it. Hopefully we will get a fix for this soon. Also incase you guys did not know. ALC880, ALC268 and ALC861/862 are all in the same family. So theoretically if one works they all should be able to be figured out relatively easily.

Corwin06
Hello, I'm using a HP Pavilion 9450eb, sound chip ALC268. But System Info says that the chip ID is 0x103C30CC instead of 0x10EC0268 I know that the 268 works with Taruga Patcher. Anyone has an idea? Should I edit some file and replace the value? (I hope it's as easy as that) If it helps, I have the shutdown issue. (My fix : tell the laptop to reboot and shut it down with the power button at BIOS screen) Thanks a lot EDIT : Oh no, I replied in the wrong topic! Very, very sorry. Any fix on this? Are we having the same issue?
audio01
Hi, No, your issue seems to be something different. The problem we're describing is once you install the Taruga ALC268 patch the computer running Leopard is unable to shutdown normally. Cheers! cabegol
Hi, I had the same problem on a Toshiba A205-S5825 I'm installing. Shutdown doesn't work anymore. I'm running 10.5.3 installed from a retail DVD + 10.5.3 combo update + Pc_Efi 8, vanilla kernel. SOLUTION: Use AppleHDA.kext from Taruga but, instead of using ALCinject.kext, use HDAEnabler.kext. IT WORKS! Links: Taruga patch: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=20138 (just use AppleHDA from this file) HDAEnabler included below (credits to the guy who made it) Just put those files on extensions folder, repair and reboot. HDAEnabler.kext.zip
Wiwi
I will try HDA enabler, i've found an another solution here, but it breaks my Hack with a boucle at boot (Just boot in single and remove LOADHDA and kexts)But it seems to work for some people !!!HDAenabler works great but doesn't make shutdown works for me (10.5.3 ALC660), problem is really AppleHDA.kext....
