Black Magic
I think that the MacBook Air is one of the very few Mac's that fail.

(MoC)
1. Welcome to the forum Black Magic, I'm sure you'll like it here, we love to argue over macs. 2. There is no poll 3. I think that the MBA is a very good computer for students looking for portability. I love the weight of it but hate that there is no Firewire or Internal CD drive. Oh well, they had to remove something to make it that anorexic.
CityHall
Yesterday I went to Apple shop in Singapore. They told me that MacBook Air is out of stock. And when they have new ones arrive they just call people on the queue list. And the rest.. just waiting for more new books. So basically they have amount of people wanting to buy MacBook Air more than supply. So I left my mobile number with them and was told to wait for two months. MacBook Air is great for aircrew. My girlfriend takes her super-heavy and bulky Toshiba notebook with her only for longest flights, like 5-7 days. If it's just 1 to 3 nights she'd not take. MacBook Air she could take with her even for 1 night stands

Rufus T. Firefly
I think it's great for what it is, but waaaay overpriced. I'd also agree with this. Sure it's ultra portable but at a price.
ilikelmo25
I don't like the MacBook Air. Sure those who just want a portable Mac that they can carry everywhere without much weight, the MacBook Air might just be the answer to their problems. However for me, I like to be able to do everything in the one place. For example, if I edit together a movie on iMovie and want to burn it on DVD, I don't want to have to use another Mac to do it. Also I don't like the lack of ports on it. Like the one USB port. If I were to play a music CD with the external CD drive and wanted to do some work on an external hard drive, I would need to unplug the external CD drive to plug in the external hard drive. This is very inconvenient for someone like me. Anyway, this may not be how some people feel but I'd rather get a MacBook/MacBook Pro so that I can do everything just where I am. bigboss
I still think that the Santa Rosa Macbook Pro offers the best balance between performance (Core 2 Duo 2.2, 2GB of ram and an 8600m gt w/ DDR3!), portability (5.4 pounds is the lowest in its class even against the current Penryn at 5.9) and Price ($1535 at Amazon). While I think that the Macbook Air is a neat idea, the system is lacking in several areas: performance (though admiteddly more powerful than anything in its category), price ($1799 is ridiculous), upgradability (everything is soldered onto the logic board). It's a great machine in its own right but I don't think I could live with a 4200RPM hard drive (or spending $1000 on an SSD), Integrated Graphics, or a lack of a built in ethernet port or DVD drive. It's probably great for business people who don't need an 8600GT in their notebook but still want a 1.83Ghz core 2 duo and 2gb of ram and have an office WiFi and a flash drive/spare pc (thus negating the need for a superdrive). wywywywy
1. No DVD drive. Not even an external one. 2. Thinnest, yes, but not the lightest. 3. Not Ethernet. 4. Only one USB. So you can use an USB>Ethernet adapter, an USB DVD drive, or a mouse. Of course you could use an USB hub, but that adds to the bulk and defeats the point of using MBA in the first place. 5. No Firewire. 6. Stupidly overpriced, even more expensive than Sony. 7. Not actually very quick. 8. You are locked in under the mercy of Apple forever, in terms of battery, repairs and form factor. But none of these matter really. People will buy anything when you stick an Apple logo on it (cue iPhone). A bit like BMW in this sense. Or Burberry in Japan. Mid spec Macbooks are still the most sensible option. But I am going to buy some of their shares. The world has gone crazy.
rampage96
It makes a great waffle iron! No seriously, it does get a bit too hot because of how thin it is.
articquad
I think it's great in almost all aspects. It is not overpriced for an ultraportable! Look at any of the competitors, and see that they are priced higher for less power! 1.6 and 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo is not slow! You guys need to look at the others in the ultra portable market and realize that the MacBook Air is years ahead of any of them!
Rockviech
lol yeah, years away when it comes to the price. all those small notebooks from other companys have atleast dvd rw and ethernet. the macbook air is a piece of designer {censored}
SpeedfreaK
the idea is good, but a come on, who does not need a dvd drive? it's good for business people (my mother has a very tiny (but very ugly) ibm laptop and it also doesnt have a cd/dvd drive and she's perfectly fine with it because she gets all here data from the server at work and doesnt need a dvd drive or a very powerfull graphics card), but not for students who love to watch movies on their laptops. the price is also not for students but it's still a beautifull piece of art! man, that thing is sexy! scottishduck
It's as pointless as you can get. It's not exactly impressive to get a thin laptop when it has nothing in it.
paramorefan
I'm not keep on it. It looks amazing but a MacBook is way better value for money. It has more space and actually has an optical drive.

S.SubZero
It seems like one of those things that will get generally bad press, but in a few years there will be a lot of products inspired by it. If it had a faster processor, faster hard disk, and an optical drive it would be much better. I can even forgive the lack of wired ethernet jack. Captain Nellie
I love my macbook air, I exchanged my macbook for it and I don't regret it at all. I'm a college student and carrying it around is very nice, its almost as light as the bag I carry it in It has a great battery life, is very fast and all the girls love it I haven't needed a dvd/cd since I bought it, I download all my homework/music/movies/appz.. pretty much everything I need and IF i ever need to burn anything I just throw it on my 8gb flash drive and put it on a different computer.. really not an inconvenience. people have their opinions about it being under powered compared to the other macbooks.. which it might be but compared to my old white macbook i'd take that .4 ghz loss anyday for like 4 lbs difference

The Xeon Quad Man
Dumb poll by the way since it has just one option. I am not a fan of the MacBook Air. Spend $200 and get a MacBook Pro if you want a Mac laptop, otherwise the XPS M1330 is a also a good choice if you want a small laptop.
jpabferreira
My opinion is: Why in the hell would you need something so thin? The weight is ok, but for portability i'd personally prefer something smaller rather than thinner (if you know what i mean), which is something that several brands already developed. It also lacks internal CD/DVD drive and the price isn't portable enough to fit in my pocket, so yes: "I think the MacBook Air is Bad"
