A sad day for anyone with a love of science and science fiction

Arthur C. Clarke, the writer of more than 100 non-fiction and fiction books, including the basis of the famous 2001: a Space Odyssey. He was also famous for conceptualising many important aspects of modern day life including high speed telecommunications via geostationary satellites.

He died today at the ripe old age of 90.
