olegpronin
What version of the F5d-8053 did you guys get? I'm running into the same problem and I think it may be due to the newer versions (mine says V.6) using a Realtek chipset instead of the ralink ones. When I click on About Mac -> More Info this is the info I get: RTL8191s WLAN Adapter Product ID: 0x815f Vendor ID: 0x050d Manufacturer: Manufacturer Realtek http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t&p=1499542 driver for 10.5 and 10.6 for realtek belkin. Running 10.5... waiting for the Misses to bring the Mac to work today to start trying it.
Tamed G
Help help help. I just bought a F5S8053 based on this thread but I can't get it to fire up. I am using OSX 10.6.3 - I have tried the 10.6 and 10.5 drivers that were included in RTUSB D2870-3.0.0.0 UI-3.0.0.0_2010_05_12.img - I adjusted my ID's in the file /System/Library/Extensions/RT2870USBWirelessDriver.kext/Contents/Info.plist - I couldn't find this file /System/Library/Extensions/RT2870USBWirelessDriver.kext/Contents/Resources/Info.plist I see the device in the system profiler but it refuses to show up in the Ralink Utility. What am I doing wrong?
Madman_jp
Well I am using 10.6.2, but i have the Belkin F5D8053 (RALINK RT2870 CHIPSET) Downloaded their new driver from the Ralink website went into the Content folder ----> Info.plist and changed the device id and vendor id Did the same in the Resources Folder ----> Info.plist(as was suggested by previous posts) I dunno for sure if that is the reason for it working, but I moved a copy of the "RT2870USBWirelessDriver.Kext" into "System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/Cotents/Plugins" I rebooted, and Bam! works flawlessly, no drops, no turning off... SO if yours uses the same chipset give that a shot....Mine works without a hitch, even when I wake up from sleep.... SYSTEM SPECS = DELL GX620, Pentium D930..3.19 Ghz (despite what DELL says the GX620 will handle the Pentium D900 series, I updated to the latest bios A11, try at your own risk, mine stays cool)..4gig of ram, Dual DVI Geforce 8600 gt...3 sata HD's 500, 500, and 320 (got rid of the Floppy drive to make room)..Dual Layer Burner with Lightscribe...Dual acer 21" monitors...Snow Leopard 10.6.2, Win 7 Ultimate 32bit, Win Xp SP3 via VMware... waldoer_ii
Couldn't get the drivers listed above to work on Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD Intel_Amd (sse2/sse3) EFI V8 . They wouldn't detect the Belkin USB adapter. Asked the guy from www.mac-forums.com for his drivers and now I've got full access to the internet. Even works with WPA2 AES. To get the Belkin F5D8053 USB adapter to work in Lion 10.7.2 I had to download and install the USB(RT2870/RT2770/RT3X7X/RT537X) V4.1.8.0 drivers from the Ralink website. To Install: Launch USBWireless-Lion.pkg from the USBWireless-10.7 folder. Note: The new drivers won't recognise the Belkin F5D8055 USB adapter. Download: RTUSB D2870-4.1.8.0 UI-4.0.6.0_2011_10_21.dmg
