Forceman
Apple announced the release of Safari 3.1 today. The newest version of Safari incorporates the latest changes from Webkit to provide "the world's fastest web browser for Mac and Windows PCs". According to Apple Safari loads web pages 1.9 times faster than IE 7 and 1.7 times faster than Firefox 2. Meanwhile, Safari's Javascript is "up to six times faster than other browsers.""Safari 3.1 for Mac and Windows is blazingly fast, easy to use and features an elegant user interface," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. "And best of all, Safari supports the latest audio, video and animation standards for an industry-leading Web 2.0 experience." Safari 3.1 is available for download at http://www.apple.com/safari/ or via your Software Update. Just to add, I've found it faster, maybe they have fixed the caching issue because when I go to a website now the whole site just loads and not background image loading like it was. Forceman
Updates may break third party apps, Apple is not responsable for them. I'm sure your app will update to fix it. The Master
I can't open pages that are supposed to open in a new window any more unless I right-click and select it manually (for example, embedded YouTube videos clicking through to the actual page) Turning off the pop-up blocker makes no difference Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/94281-apple-releases-safari-31/#findComment-672901 Share on other sites

I don't mean to insult your intelligence, but are you sure it's not opening in a new tab? Feel free to insult my intelligence It was SafariStand that was doing it, I completely forgot I even had it installed - duh. Looks like it needs updating for 3.1. cabron
no updates for me but I think it is really not necessary due the minimal changes on the build number? I'm using the last 3.1 beta Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/94281-apple-releases-safari-31/#findComment-673704 Share on other sites
