Ok last try for tonight. This is a pain since I am unsure if you need the Nforce kext or the VIA. I would think the VIA will work for you though, since it is finding you DVD drive. If your Device ID 0056 I think I missed it before, sorry! Try this Extensions.mkext

If this does not work, we could try the older Nforce with your Device ID in there.

k I'll try but I'm running out of dvd's lol. BTW, my DVD is ATA, While my Harddisk is SATA, would that make a difference.

EDIT: Neither of them worked.... I'm not sure if that's my id though, when I go to device manager/IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, I see no sata controllers, or ATA, just ide stuff, even though I know my hard disk is SATA. BTW: I don't see my ATA DVD drive in disk utility, I only see it in system profiler. What do you think?

Others with nForce 560s have this dev. id: 0x056010de

Ok I am looking for a couple volunteers to test a different Extensions.mkext to see if they get past the dreaded "waiting for root device". If you are one of those and know how to replace files in the ISO please speak up.

I wuld like to test too...but could you let me know how to replace the kext..sorry i am new to this :( and not familiar with much commands...

You should be able to do it with a program like UltraISO or Transmac. Just delete the old one and replace with the new. If you use UltraISO do not save it. Just click burn, it will prompt that it has changed do you want to save, hit cancel and continue to burn. If you save it, it will break the dual format of the DVD and make you a coaster. I have added a bunch of ID's into the AppleOnboardPCATA and AppleVIAATA for ATI and Nvidia chipsets.

Cloud if you could look in Device Manager of Windows and just double click your primary IDE channel. It will either have its own Device ID under details/Hardware ID's or it will link back to your SATA controller. As an example on my laptop, it is an ICH7 based chipset. The Primary IDE channel shows Intel-27df which is actually my SATA controller that is VEN_8086&DEV_27DF. This is because my DVD is actually SATA based.

Nice one Eddie.

Install goes fine everytime on my laptop (see sig) ;)

I got problems though, because whenever I try to fix some of the not working hardware beeing it PCMCIA, Audio or LAN (did not try graphics yet) and extra or modified kext are installed. Then after the reboot I have no more Keyboard functioning.(internal since i have no USB keyboard)

USB mouse works, but internal keyboard stops responding. :(

While booting I see an error about ACPIPS2Nub and class

I can only reinstall since i can't even type while booting -s or -x

When it is working after install i got 2 versions of ACPIPS2Nub.kext and one AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext could this be the problem?

I never had this before (Kalyway 10.5.1), help please

Hey eddie, the hardware id is: 10de-0560 . Yeah maybe you can add that id and perhaps it would work(starts to pray...). Thanks for that.

EDIT: I also have a Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller with this id: PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0550&SUBSYS_30CF103C&REV_A2

If you right click the right side window you can choose to show the HFS+ partition, then you can browse to /System/Library and find Extensions.mkext.

..hi eddie!

..i've downloaded leo4allv2 more than 10x and still gets the wrong md5 checksum

..any ideas? suggestions?

..other files i've downloaded have no problem at all...

..thanks in advance!

That's funny I downloaded it correctly the first time using transmission. Do you pause or cancel the transfer alot? Because sometimes I get corrupt files when I pause or cancel downloads. If so try downloading it all in one shot, or maybe downloading Leo4all, and then the patches separately, that's what I did.

(my first post)

Hi eddie,

Thanks for a great release. Like many others have said, it is one of the only one's they've gotten to boot an install properly.

My situation is: I was able to get Leo4Allv1 w/ PPF1 installed with the Darwin Bootloader. I once tried PC_EFI_v8, and that ended up in a reboot loop. So, I stuck with straight Darwin. I did something to mess up the good install while trying to back it up using Disk Utility. So, I thought I'd try Leo4Allv2. However, it doesn't seem like there is an option for Darwin w/o EFI-PC. Is this true? I tried to install it and wound up in a reboot loop. Is there any way to remove EFI-PC after the intall? Is PC-EFI known to not work on some configurations?

My Specs:

Motherboard: MSI nForce 430, AMD Socket 939

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+

Audio: ALC880 (working with Azalia)

LAN: Onboard doesn't work, using USB->LAN Netgear FA120

Video: NVIDIA 8400GS HDMI/DVI

- Using DVI output, 1280x720 QE/CI on my 56" Sammy DLP

- Had to fix strings in the NVIDIA kexts

- Onboard 6150 disabled

Thanks for your help and your great work!

Mike

Hehehe...nevermind

I reloaded Leo4Allv1 (the one that worked for me before) and found that it loads the same PC_EFI by default as well. This time, I started from scratch, erased both HFS+ partitions and installed...that worked. Then I tried Leo4Allv2 and that then worked as well. I think what happened was that, while trying to create a backup (and doing it improperly) using Disk Utility, I messed up the bootloader somehow. I never fixed that problem, nor erased the original HFS+ partition and the backup HFS+ partition before trying to load Leo4Allv2 for the first time. So, after install, the bootloader or something was still messed up and that's what I think caused the boot loop. Bah! Goes to show that I shouldn't skip any steps even if I think I know what I'm doing...

hey, i downloaded Leo4All and burned it to a dvd, but after it boots it hangs on "Kernel Version: Darwin Kernel 9.0.0". It says this after i hit boot and a bunch of white lines scroll saying loaded blank kext such as nForceATA. So, can someone tell me how to continue the boot?

Specs:

EvGa 680i

8800 GTX

Intel Core2 Duo 2.4ghz

Seagate 80gb IDE HDD

Western Digital 160gb SATA HDD
