This is usually caused by the bootloader not being able to flag your partition active, it may be an incompatibility with the chipset or something. You can manually do this with fdisk from the terminal. There are plenty of instructions around here on how to do it. Try searching first. Be sure to add your chipset drivers at the very least, or you will be stuck waiting for root device.
I'm trying to think a little out-of-the-box here... why does a partition need to be "active" in the first place? I know the stated reasons, but I mean, really, why? Is an active partition in any way related to the functioning of the hardware? I ask because, if not, can't we just patch any and all requisite software (bootloader and OS) to "not care" one way or another whether or not a partition is "active" and/or bootable? Seems like it would eliminate one of the most frequent problems. The worst that could happen is if you tried to boot from a partition without an installed OS you'd get an error message, and you'd have to reboot.

So why are we tied to bootable/active partitions in the first place? Am I missing anything here? In the old days of DOS the BIOS needed to have an active partition, but these days with our plethora of modern bootloaders, once the bootloader is active isn't the BIOS irrelevant for the rest of the booting process?

BTW thanks for the release eddie.

EDIT: I'm just gonna add this here... I looked at the source code for GRUB and my, oh my! What a mess. It seems to make calls to the system BIOS all over the place. I guess every bootloader, including Darwin, probably does this, so please ignore my ignorance above about the whole thing.

There are two ISO's I released. The original and V2. The original can be patched with V1 then V2(must do V1 first) or you can just get the prepatched version.

Eddie, I decided to dump the A8N-SLI Board with the nforce chipset since I couldnt get any DVD to boot so I can install Leopard.

Here are my new specs:

Chipset

• AMD 790X (AMD RD780) Chipset

- HyperTransport connection to AMD Phenom/Athlon processor

- HyperTransport supporting speed up to 2.6GHz (5200mt/s)

- Supports PCI-E x 16& PCI-E X 1

• ATI SB600 Chipset

- Supports SATAII controllers for four drives

- Supports single channel Ultra DMA 66/100/133 master mode EIDE controller

- ACPI & PC2001 compliant enhanced power managment

- Supports Hi-Speed (USB2.0) controller 480 mbsec transfer rate up to 10 ports

Main Memory

• Supports Dual DDR II 533/667/800/ 1066(only for AM2+)

• 4 DDRII DIMMs (240pin / 1.8V)

• Supports a maximum memory size up to 8GB.

Due to the High Performance Memory design, motherboards or system configurations may or may not operate smoothly at the JEDEC (Joint Electron Device Engineering Council) standard settings (BIOS Default on the motherboard) such as DDR2 voltage, memory speeds and memory timing. Please confirm and adjust your memory setting in the BIOS accordingly for better system stability.

Example: Kingston HyperX DDR2-800 PC-6400 operates at 2.0V, 4-4-4-12.

For more information about specification of high performance memory modules, please check with your Memory Manufactures for more details.

Slots

• Two PCI Express X16 slots , support ATI CrossFire Technology (PCI Express Bus Specification v2.0 compliant)

{Slot configurations: Dual CrossFire (8X+8X)}

• One PCI Express X1 slot

• Two 32-bit PCI slots (3.3v/5v PCI Bus Master slots)

On-Board IDE/SATA

• An IDE controller on the ATI SB600 chipset provides IDE HDD/CD-ROM with PIO, Bus Master and Ultra DMA133/100/66 operation modes.

- Can connect up to 2 IDE devices

• SB600 supports 4 SATA II ports (SATA1-4). Transfer rate is up to 300MB/s.

- Supports up to 4 SATA

- RAID 0, 1 or 0+1 is supported

- RAID function work w/ SATA/SATAII HDDs

BIOS

• The mainboard BIOS provides "Plug & Play" BIOS which detects the peripheral devices and expansion cards of the board automatically.

• The mainboard provides a Desktop Management Interface (DMI) function which records your mainboard specifications.

• Supports boot from LAN, USB Device 1.1 & 2.0 and SATA HDD

Audio

• 8 Channel software audio codec Realtek ALC888

• Compliance with Azalia v1.0 spec.

• Flexible 8-channel audio with jack sensing

LAN

• Realtek® 8111B LAN chip

- Supports 10Mb/s, 100Mb/s and 1000Mb/s

- Compliance with PCI-Express v1.0a

Just a few questions:

1. What options should I chose in Customize for this type of setup?

2. Anything in the bios I should turn of or on?

3. With this new setup I can get any DVD to boot into the installation menu, but now the install takes about 2 to 3 hours which is odd.

Thanks!

When I use my ata disc the same happen.

If I boot it up without startup parameters I have panics.

Basicy I didnt asked for advices before and tried with reading posts and solutions but none worked for me. If someone can help me please or I will give up cause I simply dont know how to do it on this mobo.

it seems cyclonefr has found the solution to the "2-drive" problem on some mobos with the AHCI mode.

read and download HERE

it would be great to have them cached on the installation dvd and included as an install option,

maybe even completely replace the old kexts if it turns out it works for everyone.

Hey Eddie

Great job on this release, my machine was working fine on Kalyway, but the sadist inside me said try someting else, so trashed it and loaded your Leo4all.

Currently running your first release and all works fine as in my sig, but the only thing is the gma950 doesn't do resolutions like:

1280x720 or 1366x768

Is there a file or something I can edit to allow those resolutions?

If not I might try and trash this and put v2 on it.

Apprecaite your help on this and once again cracking release -_-

eddie, I must ask. I managed to get it to boot, but I get stuck at the introductory screens. It tells me I need to identify my keyboard, I pass it, keyboard localization, etc. It reaches the "Do You Already Own A Mac?" screen where I can pick whether or not I want to import old data. I click "No" and "Continue." When I do so, it doesn't do anything for a minute, then it goes back to the beginning screen, where I identify my keyboard again. What do I do?

I have posted this sereral times already, please look HERE

eddie11c,Great release - I just finished downloading v2 today, however I'm getting a strange problem when I try to access my NAS server that I built. When ever I try Apple Menu > Go > Connect to Server, I type in the the correct server IP address, and I get a pop-up box that says:"The text enetered doen not appear to be a recognized URL format.URLs should begin with afp://, at://, file://, etc."I've never had this problem on Kalyway oe Leo4All 1.0. I've tried typing the address with afp:// & without (just putting in the address) but same result. Please help.
OK I may have located the problem will post a fix for you later, when I have some more time.
Eddie11c, do you have that background you applied on the back of the installation? I would like to apply that as my background. That would be nice. Thanks. =)
Look in /System/Library/CoreServices its in there.

It's really the same thing, but just to be safe, I think about changing that in the Wiki later. =)

Oh... I read that and I didn't think it was the same thing. I didn't realize this was account creation. Am I going to not be able to create my account the way I wanted?

Hey guys

I have tried to install with Leo4allv2 justnow.

First time that I tried to boot into install DVD, I saw the "Still wating for root device". So, I entered CMOS set. and changed the value named "Large disk access mode", from [DOS] to [Others]. Then, I suceeded to bypass the error.

I can see install screen now, but DVD cannot mount the Partition that I want to install into. It recognizes the HDD and all the partitions but cannot mount the partition. So that I cannot format partition to HFS+ by "Disk Utility".

Recognizing the HDD means ur DVD contains SB600 driver. DVD with out SB600 is not able to recognize.

Before started to install, I set the partition that I want to install into, to "0xAF" with "Acronis disk director suite v10". Should I make the HFS+ partition in the other DVD which can mount partition well, that I want to install into?

Aren't there any solutions? Help me

P.S. normal DVDs with SB600 driver, are not show me "Still wating for root device" and mount as well Although I didn't change the value from [DOS] to [Others].

Model name - [Laptop] Samsung Sens R20 Plus

HDD - 120GB SATA HDD

Chipset - ATI 690G [sATA Cnt. = SB600]

CPU = C-2-D T7100 [Mobile Processor] [Just like Conroe]

It worked, and now I'm in- but my internet doesn't work. I selected the Forcedeth driver because I have and Nforce Motherboard... should I get other drivers?

With this driver you will need to manually set up the IP/Subnet, Gateway IP and DNS servers.

Sometimes disk utility will glitch like that, I suggest formatting the drive you want FAT32 and try again.

With this driver you will need to manually set up the IP/Subnet, Gateway IP and DNS servers.

In the "Network" menu of the System Preferences? Under "Configure: Manually"? Every time I enter information and click "Apply", it reverts back to "Configure: Off".

hi eddie!

ok, so i finished dolwnloading v2 this morning and tried installing it, no partition recognized (internal hd), still installation (external hd) failed when customizing (like adding 3rd party driver)

...so i still continued to install(external hd) it without custom and upon restart, no welcome video, no audio...resolution is 1024 only, no internet, no problem with mouse (works perfect)...

...can u recommend a program (vista) to check md5 checksum?

...do i have to include the .nfo file included in the leo4allv2 download when burning the iso or just the "iso" only?

...thanks in advance!

(im trying to attach images of my installation but keeps saying "dynamic images are not allowed"

What you expect? You install no other drivers so nothing else is going to work. You can find all the drivers you need in these forums though. Just try searching a little. The reason it probably fails is a bad disk, one of the packages you try to choose when you customize is probably corrupt.

...does it mean i have to download the whole torrent again? why do i get a corrupt file?

..regarding the ".nfo" file, do i have to include it when burning the iso?

..thanks again!
