eddie11c
I redid my Nvidia drivers myself including all the Device ID's I could find. These should work for many, if you scroll back a few pages you will see all the ones I had at that point. If yours is not there you still have time to post them to get it included. The only new one I have added since was 0x040710de.

Morpheus Phreak
eddie11c, I made a post in the PPF2 thread, but it seems you visit this one more often. ATi has updated their HD3850 cards with a new BIOS that doesn't work with any available drivers right now. Basically when booting OS X dumps the GPU BIOS image and then the boot process just seems to stop. With older BIOS for these cards the HD3850's work, but without proper fan speeds to keep the temps below critical levels they become unstable. I've posted the BIOS for both the Vanilla BuiltByATi cards in both the non-branded ATi & the VisionTek branded varities at the netkas forums. http://forum.netkas.org/index.php/topic,19...74.html#msg1774 Those are the files dumped straight from my card. Hopefully these will help with creating a newer version of the driver to be included in your v3 release
Magicum
== SOME UPDATE regarding ATI S450 IDE Controller == I've made some test. Below are results 1. Using AppleGenericPCATA.kext (I've taken this kext from some tiger threads whre guys improved ATA issues): HDD works slowly, but continuously, without gaps, pauses, only slow. Similar to inactivated DMA mode. 2. Using AppleOnboardPCATA or AppleVIAATA: Read\write operations are fast as should be, however there are a lot of long pauses between processing data portions. That's why using both 1. and 2. produces the same result: ~3 hours installation takes, 15-30 minutes for boot, 10-15 minutes for shutdown. Still need any help. And new idea, possibly this caused not by IDE Controller, but some other device?
jasonu
Hey Eddie, Crossing my fingers didn't work... I had errors coming with the leo4all disk. SAM Multimedia: READ or WRITE failed. Sense_KEY = numbers.... repeat repeat repaet. Figured it was the disk, so burnt a second... same thing. .. Then tried the orignal download iatkos v1. It worked! But then on reboot (after successful install) i got a message popup... You need to restart your computer. So i am in that loop now, looking for answers.... Any ideas? About the Leo4All errors or the other. Thanks again Jason Hey Eddie, Was a crappy dvd burn. I am writing this from the otherside... i'm in leopard. holy {censored}!! It's a whole new world. eddie11c
I am still working on that among other things. A few things to note from my experience with latest build on my AMD machine. Here is a screenshot for reference. Xterm works however there is a trick that dates back some time. After the first run, when you close it you will notice the process jumps to almost %100 cpu activity. To fix this you will need to open terminal and type: xeyes & Then reboot your machine and it should work without issue ever again. Not sure why this happens, it sometimes happens on my Intel the first time its run too, but always on the AMD. As you can see from the screenshot there are 2 SUID files left, I can't seem to get rid of them, this only happens on AMD's(I believe because one of the OSInstall scripts crash on AMD's) but I am not going to worry about it. Everything else runs just as expected to include the autopatching, you no longer need to select AMD-System-Fix. The new Nvidia drivers work fine with both my Nvidia cards(8800GTS 512 and 7800GTX) with 0.2.1 NVinject. EDIT--Almost forgot I did update the programs included. I added a few and updated the versions of a couple also. I would love to add more programs like what people suggest, but there just isn't enough room on a single layer DVD for it. The issue for me of going to dual layer is speed. It would be noticeably slower to install. I have added some network drivers, all that is left is updating the ATI video drivers. I removed repair permissions completely from the install, it is no longer needed to have a functioning install. You will be free to run it once your inside Leopard if you like(there will be lots of stuff to change write permissions on, but nothing to keep Leopard from booting properly). This install now runs about 20 minutes for my AMD machine which has a cheap DVD and slow IDE hard drive. I expect it to be a bit snappier on proper hardware! ponduz
Thanks for a SUPERB Leopard disc! I have installed it on both my Intel and AMD machine. Everything works as it should, at least so far! I have noticed this on my own computers if I change that setting, it only recognizes the 128gig and seems to take longer to install. On a slower DVD and disk drive it takes on average 35 minutes, as this is what my AMD currently has. With my improved install setup thats down to 20. morkus
Hi Eddie; Can't see any BIOS settings to set it NATIVE or NOT. All it states is;- The On South Chip settings in BIOS only allow settings for the following;- IDE DMA Transfer Accessoff/on Primary IDE and Secondary IDEenable or disable the primary and secondary IDE controller. Primary Master/Slave PIO and Secondary Master/Slave PIOPIO means Programmed Input/Output. Rather than have the BIOS issue a series of commands to effect a transfer to or from the disk drive, PIO allows the BIOS to tell the controller what it wants and then let the controller and the CPU perform the complete task by themselves. Your system supports five modes, 0 (default) to 4, which primarily differ in timing. When Auto is selected, the BIOS will select the best available mode after checking your drive.Auto The BIOS will automatically set the system according to your hard disk drive’s timing.Mode 0-4 You can select a mode that matches your hard disk drive’s timing. Caution: Do not use the wrong setting or you will have drive errors. Primary Master/Slave UDMA and Secondary Master/Slave UDMAThese fields allow you to set the Ultra DMA in use. When Auto is selected, the BIOS will select the best available option after checking your hard drive or CD-ROM.Auto The BIOS will automatically detect the settings for you. Disabled The BIOS will not detect these categories. IDE Prefetch ModeThis allows data and addresses to be stored in the internal buffer of the chip, thus reducing access time. Enable this field to achieve better performance IDE HDD Block ModeEnabled The IDE HDD uses the block mode. The system BIOS will check the hard disk drive for the maximum block size the system can transfer. The block size will depend on the type of hard disk drive. Disabled The IDE HDD uses the standard mode. All my settings in BIOS for the above are set to AUTO... maybe there is another way of getting round this. BTW: the slow DVD install is probably cus Im using an external USB drive to install from, and it probably on a USB v1 speed settin though I can't confirm that. All the best, Mork Oh, and I forgot to mention, Ive switched off my two SATA controllers for this mobo as I'm not using them.... fresh GUID install is still going on...MorkPSS: when I'm installing the LEO4ALL, I do notice something about ATA going to IRQ 14, yet BIOS has these set to different IRQs from a Windows XP installation on the other drive...? what does this mean?
