If you want to delete NVinject.kext you either have to be able to boot into single user mode (type in -s at F8 boot prompt) or you have to use MacDrive for windows to access your OS X drive to delete it. To delete it from MacDrive in Windows, just go into your OS X drive, into the System >> Library Folder. First delete the Extensions.mkext file, then go into the Extensions folder and delete NVinject.kext. To delete it from single user mode, you would boot into single user and run the following commands:

mount -uw /
rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/NVinject.kext
rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions.mkext

Hope that helps :) And yes, what Fruitboi says is right turbo_911. Installing OS X depends a lot on what hardware you have and in your case it does seem to be a hardware driver problem. It would be better for you if you made your own thread ;)

hey,

Thanks a lot ~pcwiz, that solved my problem :), it is working properly now, really appreciate for the help and sorry if I hijacked this thread, didn't really meant too.

And I did made my own thread, and no one really replied to it.

Oh btw, just wondering do you guys know where I can find a thread that uses DFI motherboard? I was looking and couldn't find any.

Thats my home pc, and I installed Leopard there too, but can't get sound working (uses AC'97) and PS2 keyboard won't work too.

Once again thanks for the help. :)

Hey turbo_911,

*This is OFF TOPIC, not about Gigabyte P35 but I help anyway :)*

For sound, apparently your laptop uses Sigmatel 9221 so what you do is download AppleHDA here. Then use this codec dump to patch AppleHDA.

For the PS/2 are you using Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD? The fix *should* have been included in the install for PS/2. But if you installed with Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD you need to install this fixed kext.

Hey knobi,

Thats a known bug in the installer. Run the installer again, this time choosing ONLY the sound drivers and nothing else, then it should work :P

OMG.  PCwiz.  That is the fastest reply I have ever gotten on this forum.  Thanks bro

The installer I am using is the gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P-DS3R-DS4.pkg.

I have done that before, only selecting the audio, but it still failed to install.

I must admit, do you need to plug in the speakers so that the thing can detect the speakers and the drivers installed?  I plug in using my optical output on my Z5500D and nothing.  Under about mac and system profile, it says no audio detected.

Am I doing something wrong and shall I try again bro?

knobi,

Thats really weird. Yeah, Sound wont be detected in System Profiler even if it is working so System Profiler is sort of useless in that regard...What do you mean failed to install? I think you need to plug in speakers, otherwise how do you know if sound isn't working? Just plug in the speakers, you don't need to install the drivers again, you should have sound then :P

OMG.  Mate.  I am so embarressed.  Your file works :D:D  I have connected my old 2.1 speakers and it works.  Sounds are coming out.  Could you tell me what the settings should be in the system preferences?  Under system profile, it is still detecting no audio but who cares :D:D

Does 5.1 output on digital channel work?

Lastly, the install created a P35 backup folder on my HD with appleHDA.kext in it. Is it safe to delete the folder?

And another thing, does your shutdown work for you all the time?  I mean my computer can shut down most of the time but sometimes, it shuts down the CPU, HD, but the fan is still spinning.

I love you pcwiz.  You make it so much easier to install.  I tried kernel method and that buggered me big time :D:D

My Xbench score now is 176.80

Leave the settings as default in System Preferences, if you want you can increase the output volume. 5.1 works, you have to use this guide, it tells you how to configure it. The P35Backup folder is safe to delete, it contains all your backed up kexts, but I recommend you keep it in case something goes wrong and you have to revert back to your original install using my uninstaller script. Shutdown works all the time if you chose to install the netkas speedstep kernel in my installer. The sleep kernel might make shutdown work too, but I'm using the speedstep kernel and it works great shutdown/restart.

My Xbench score w/o disk is 229 :D

thanks mate for your swift response.  How come your score is sooo high???  hehehe

I am running kernel version darwin 9.2.2.  Can I still install your speedstep kernel and that would screw up anything right? I thought I tried this once, running 10.5.2 and after installing netkas 9.2.0,

SB pen drives wont mount unless it was booted with it.  Hmmm.  Also, would it change my kernel version darwin to 9.2.0?

Sorry if me questino sounds n00by

Yeah it would screw it up if you have the 9.2.2 kernel. However, there is a patched 9.2.2 kernel that you should try (torrent is called "ToH Leopard kernel 9.2.2 Intel SSE3 EFI"). I remember someone 1 or 2 pages back in this thread had the same problem with USB only mounting at startup, forgot who it was or if they found a fix...go back a couple pages and you will see.

Well, Thanks to this thread and pcwiz - I have a OS X Server 10.5.2 from the Retail DVD!! installed and running on my hack! I had to use my Kalyway install from this guide in order to complete it.

Has anyone actually got GUID working with Kalyway 10.5.1 DVD? The EFI bootloader isn't installing correctly for me when using Kalyway/GUID. I had to use MBR with Kalyway. When I installed EFI manually on GUID on my box works. I think the 10.5.2 doesn't have the EFI installer, which is why people are not able to boot after? At least the option to install EFI_mbr and efi_guid are not present on the 10.5.2 DVD.

I found this guide to be the most accurate and complete for EFI installation AND Leo( and server) install via retail DVD. Also, my SATA drives are also showing internal!! Perhaps pcwiz can use the info in that thead to fix the external SATA problem? http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=86167

I'm having a problem after installation. It gets stuck at the screen with the Apple and the loading icon. I left it on for 6-8 hours.

I strictly followed the new guide for my installation:

This is with my setup in signature (minus the xtrememusic, only 2gb of ram, no internal dvd drives yet, and unoverclocked). The 2 SATA hard drives are both connected to the yellow ICH9 on SATA0 and SATA1. Also I have the F2 bios for the motherboard (read that F1 causes errors). I checked the ISO and it matches (used winrar to unzip too), then burned it at 4x on a verbatim dvd-r with a good dvd burner. Then I adjusted the BIOS settings according to the guide, and booted from an external usb dvd drive. I formatted MBR with a single, one word, no space partition called "Main." Then I clicked the partition and erased it. Note: It only shows 128GB for a 300GB hard drive. Which is the only suspect for the problem that I see. Then in customization, I checked both the Vanilla options and EFI MBR, and unchecked everything else. I proceeded with the installation and get the installation successful screen and it reboots. Then I am stuck.

Nooooooooooooo

Hi roarsaur,

Please read thru this thread (yup, all 31 pages of it!) for ideas and insight on what could go wrong. Everyone who has a problem is asked to put their exact hardware specs into their signature, and then to boot using -v option so we can get an idea of what the problem is. If you are able to boot most of the way, then it is most likely a driver or incorrect kext problem (or BIOS setting - see below).

Did you install with the graphics drivers option? That frequently causes problems, but is easy to fix. Please take a photo of the -v or report what the last few lines say.

Your drive showing up as 128GB is due to incorrect BIOS settings. These weren't covered exactly in the tutorial. Please report or post a photo of your Integrated Peripherals screen of your BIOS.

Edit: Oh, looks like you posted your specs (you may want to specify that your DVD is IDE in USB box). You have the same motherboard as myself and macciti. Please post the required info so we can help tshoot.

I'm on the 11th page of this thread and will continue to read on.

I didn't install any graphic driver options, only the vanilla options and efi mbr. I just fixed my BIOS so that it shows the full capacity of the hard drive. I'm reinstalling right now with 2 partitions ("MacOSX0" & "MacOSX1") to utilize the full capacity.

If it doesn't boot after this, I'm going to take photos of my BIOS settings and the -v. Or maybe I will post photos regardless in about 2-3 hours.

Thanks for all the help.

BTW Roarsaur you never told us what got you "stuck" (boot in verbose and tell us the error) :( P.S. Fruitboi, its 31 pages for you but I set it so that there are 40 replies on every page so I only have 16 pages :(

Islander, I use a tool called WinMD5 to check MD5's with Windows, it works nicely.

I was stuck on the screen with the apple logo and the loading icon under it (after successful installation and rebooting).

After adjusting the BIOS to the correct settings to show the full capacity of the hard drive, I reinstalled with 2 paritions and it rebooted! I'm on the desktop right now.

I'm going to post my BIOS anyways tomorrow to make sure everything is perfect though. Thanks guys.

hey mate.  I went far back as page 23 and I still dont see what you were telling me?  I found the torrent but the comments on it were not very helpful.  I did read that you think that the 10.5.3 update might fix this problem?

Yeah Kalyway and GUID is sometimes a problem. What you have to do then is install Kalyway and then install the the EFI GUID loader manually.

The install method I used required EFI to be installed before installing Leo. Do you think there is just a bug in the Kalyway efi installer that needs to be "touched" after the install? Otherwise I was thinking EFI should be installed before Kalyway?

Thoughts?

Just completed the guide and installed the nvinject installer v.41 here

everything seems to be working! i have not checked audio yet though but so far so good

now i just need to oc and install xp

thanks pcwiz, fruitboi, and everyone else!

oh and, I was thinking, would it be possible to save an image of my hard drive and let others use it?

edit: It says "No Built-In Audio." in the System Profiler under "Audio (Built In)." I'm assuming I'm suffering from the problem mentioned in the first post.

"Bug in installer: Several people have said that there is a small bug in the installer where after you do a full install of all the drivers, sound still doesn't work. Thankfully, the simple fix is you run the installer a second time, this time ONLY choosing the sound drivers and nothing else."

Can someone clarify how you go about doing this? Would I lose anything I've already installed?

edit2: I tried doing the audio part of the old guide and it said something like, "install looks fine, reboot and pray" but it still does not work. How do I remove the kexts?
