UPDATE: Last night I reinstalled everything over at a friends house. Using the Natit driver in setup I got the 1080i I was looking for. Then in my ever-growing stupidity I installed the apple graphics 1.0 and everything went back. So I reinstalled again with the same settings and it wouldnt work. Tonight I'm gunna do it again so wish me luck I guess. . .

I tried Punk92's drivers but still nothing. I also tried going in to single mode and do

/sbin/fsck -fy

/sbin/mount -uw /

cd system

cd library

cd extensions

rm -rf Nv*.*

rm -rf Natit.kext

rm -rf GeFo*.*

rm -rf ATI*.*

cd ..

rm -rf extensions.mkext

if I missed something its probably because I'm writing this from memory. There's gotta be a way to get this shizz workin. Tonight I'll try a reinstall for the millionth time.

Thanks for your reply macciti

I just installed again, still having the same problem. I boot with the F8 and -V function, but I am unable to make a screenshot, as it turns blank at the moment it freezes. I think it has something to do with the Radeon 2600XT... I try to provide you with a movie...

EDIT: Here is a link to the movies I made with my Nokia N95 in MP4 format: LINK

Try installing without graphics driver...

A quick question....can I install the kext that comes in the installer under a 10.5.2?

Basically

- audio kext

- ethernet kext (if it won't work, i still don't know cause i'm waiting for the new hardware)

And also

- macdotnub SMBIOS

- ICH9R SATA drivers

Leaving out, of course, the kernels.

All this through the installer, being very very carefull of not selecting the kernels.

Will this mess up my (future) 10.5.2?

Thank you very much

To Macciti:

I am now trying to install without graphics driver, but I guess I will get a f**ked up screen like I did a while ago... But I keep my hopes up... Is there a way to build in another graphics driver afterwards? Or do I really have to reinstall each time? I also was wondering if I should select more install options like SSE2 support... But I guess the guide is really good focused on the Gigabyte P35 series.

Here are the results: LINK indeed messed up screens

I googled on "natit 2600xt" and this came up: http://netkas.org/?p=52 Is there a way to load it through the -s boot option?

PS: I will get the Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD and also try that release, hopefully it works with that one...

Partial auto-reply: it looks like there's an AppleSMBIOS especially for 10.5.2. Here's the discussion

So, this problem should be solved.

Any idea for the kext's?(audio, eternet e ICH9R SATA).

thanks!

gendem,

Go here, read the instructions and install the new Rev 6 AppleSMBIOS. Should fix it:

melagodo,

As long as you are running 10.5.2, just run my installer and all will be fine. Installing a kernel is perfectly safe

macciti,

Go to Terminal and type in:

uname -a

You then get your kernel version and build :)

Bernard Tapie,

I haven't tested FireWire yet, don't have any FireWire devices to test with, but according to everything I've found out, back FireWire works, but I have no clue about front FireWire, since my case doesn't have a front FireWire port its not even connected.

Some minor things:

1) Toast starts up very slowly!

2) The internal drves are display as external ones, can this help?

Update 3

(I don't want to crash my system with new kexts).

3) How do i see if the speedstep kernel is installed (9.2.0 Darwin Kernel Version 9.2.0: Sun Mar 2 00:11:08 SCT 2008; made by ToH:xnu-1228/BUILD/obj/RELEASE_I386 i386)

Thanks!

Thanks for all the compliments macciti, makes me feel happy like chocolate inside ;)

longtom,

By 9.2.0, that means its a 10.5.2 kernel. And made by ToH means its a ToH/netkas kernel, so yes, the kernel is installed.

The good news: I'm typing this through my new IHack.

The bad news: whenever I restart I get the black screen, so I hit F8 at the Darwin screen and go into -x -legacy -v which me logs me into safe mode. then I hit the restart button on my tower and I can login just fine until the next time I restart. ~pcwiz or macciti, do you guys know what the problem could be?

It's posible install Leopard in HDD ATA?

Mac OSX will delete my GRUB configure? I have sata2 500gb with debian sid 64bits+ winxp + win vi$ta 64bits sp1(vista loader, option in grub)

Audigy 2 ZS works with leopard or have to change to integreted sound in MB

When you start in verbose mode, do you see any errors? Anything?

Macciti,

I'll be sure to check when I get home. that would be -v correct? Ideally it would be great if I didnt have to reinstall, because other than restart everything is working like a CHARM. especially with my new wireless PCI adapter being detected as an airport :( .

another question: since restart isn't working the way I want it, I've been putting it to sleep. is it safe to do that for long periods of time? say 5-9 hours?

sweet because it starts up like 17 seconds fast when I do it from sleep, but I'm enjoying the troubleshooting. Although I was about ready to cry when I turned on my machine last night to a black screen, when I thought I had fixed it. Thanks for the assist Macciti, I dont know what I would do with out this thread and you and ~pcwiz.
