First off, thanks everyone for your help so far! It's immensely appreciated.

When using this guide, does anyone know if this detects (and I'd assume uses) all for cores in an intel Core 2 Quad 6600?

And if anyone knows, if it just says that it finds "one core" does that mean it only actually uses 1 of the 4 cores?

Thanks again! I final get to pick up my osx86-ready PC tonight!

MBR method seems to have done the trick, and solved my dual boot requirements.

Now I just have to get audio working properly. Does anyone else have 6 channel audio working? So far I can only get stereo working.

It's not even out from Apple yet, man :) They are actively seeding it to devs, which means it is probably soon, but they are changing their seeding habits it seems.

Aaron

ye, i heard that there is a beta release but could not find if it is going to be released soon... :)

OK, for anyone that didn't install the NVidia graphics drivers from the Kalyway DVD they can all be found here:

http://nvinject.free.fr

yonyz,

Glad you are getting a USB keyboard, that will solve many problems, and also yes, if your sound card has Leopard drivers then it should work fine. What is the exact model of your sound card? I know for a fact that some cards like the Creative SoundBlaster cards don't work in OS X at all.

Bernard Tapie,

If you can boot in -x but not normally, that means that there is some kext that is interfering with the boot. If you could just grab a screen from -v, we could tell what kext is causing the problem and remove it <_>

ghettoiam,

Yes, for me all 4 cores are detected and working in System Profiler, Activity Monitor, whatever  I think that problem appears on certain motherboards but as far as I know it hasn't happened with these Gigabyte P35 boards.

gendem,

I only have a 2.1 ch speaker system but I have no way to know if its working. However there is a tutorial to get 5.1 ch sound working here:

hey pcwiz... we need you here a lot, man -_- i wanted to ask if there is a way to install airport and time machine without damaging perfect install... i am wondering if there are going to be a patched updates... have you heard anything?

As long as you have EFI installed, the AirPort and Time Machine update should be fine but like I said earlier it might break shutdown/restart/sleep. There is a patched kernel around but I'm not sure if it fixes anything because I haven't tried it. For me, I'm waiting for the 10.5.3 update which will include this.

pcwiz~, my audio card is called Juli@, by ESI.

I have one more question: After installing Leopard successfully, will I be able to use my PS2 keyboard?

Cause I'm gonna buy the crappiest USB keyboard ever made. :D

Edit:

Hmm.. wait, I think I will just buy a PS2 to USB adapter, it's a bit cheaper than a new keyboard, and I won't need to install any weird kexts. :)

I just hope it's in the stock.

ok

It's working ! got it to kalyway 10.5.2 with all updates :)

but the only strange thing is that I'm obliged to use the VGA cable with the DVI2VGA adaptor as my 22" monitor is getting lost poping up non supported resolution messages, but for this i'l go on another topic.

So so far concerning this one, it's succesful !! :)

thank you !

Hey guys

I need some help installing 10.5.2 All_Kernel.pkg.

I had KALYWAY_LEO_10.5.1intel_SSE2_SSE3, then updated to kalyway_hack_10.5.2ComboUpdate and it worked fine, did the Repair Disk permissions,

and then when I proceeded to kalyway_10.5.2_kernels.mpkg and when I open it it says the following...

Operation could not be completed.

(com.apple.installer.pagecontroller error

-1.)

Couldn't open "kalyway_10.5.2_kernels.mpkg".

Could you guys please help what to do?

Thanks a lot

yonyz,

Yes, after you apply the PS/2 fix from my installer a PS/2 keyboard will work. Like I said as long as your sound card has supported Leopard drivers then it should work fine. The PS/2 to USB adapter might work, I'm not too sure, but if PS/2 keyboard works after installation why does it matter anyway? Just get a USB keyboard and solve all your troubles and questions, they are only about $10. EFI lets you use Vanilla kernels and kexts, GFX strings, GUID partition table, and it makes your computer as close as possible to a REAL mac. Vanilla kernel is an unmodified kernel from Apple for max compatibility, but in this package we use a netkas patched kernel because with the vanilla kernel on these boards shutdown and restart don't work.

Bernard Tapie,

Glad it works :o Try setting the resolution to your monitor's native resolution in System Preferences. If your monitor has any OS X drivers install them :(

turbo_911,

macciti is correct, that sounds like a bad download. Re download it.

What's the best method for swapping kernals?

My Kalyway 10.5.2 has a bunch of options when installing, but how do I switch after the install?

Which Kernal do you recommend for a overclocked P35-DS3R board, running 10.5.2?

You can switch after install by finding the kernel package from the DVD. Something like System >> Installation >> Packages folder on the install DVD. I would recommend either the kernel_9.2.2_kabyl or the kernel_9.2_speedstep

Thanks, yeah it was a bad install... redownloaded and it went fine... but I accidentally left both vanilla and kernel 9.2.0 thing selected and when i restarted, it won't log into OSX now. now it stops on the white screen with apple logo and then a message comes up saying please press your reset button to restart your mac, and it says on 3 different languages.... so i am stuck...

well actually i deleted and installed windows xp for now, and downloading 10.5.2 right now, so i was wondering how hard is it to install with xp on the hdd already? btw, i have one hdd partitioned into to partitions...

Its interesting you chose both kernels when pcwiz included a note telling to install only one :D funny stuff happen... about installing os x on the same hard drive, it shouldnt be hard. there is a good tutorial link on this thread... i forgot the page number but its here...

ah ok, cool

one more thing, for some reason I used the latest NVinject and update from apple for video card (I have 7400) and still when it goes from white screen with apple logo to blue screen i see a lot of different colors of lines...

Does that mean that I installed it wrong?

Alright, I have a huge problem:

Installed Kalyway 10.5.1 with EFI MBR bootloader, and both vanilla kernel options, as the guide says, and I get a kernel panic and can't get into Leopard.

Also, after I erased the Leopard partition (before installing Leopard in it), my Windows XP partition was just disappeared from the Disk Utility, and all the softwares I try shows that my XP partition is an UNPARTITIONED SPACE!

Also, when booting XP DVD, it says it didn't find any XP installations.

I'm sure there's an easy fix for that, but don't know how to fix it.

Also, what about the kernel panic?

Why is it happening?

I didn't install any other kexts than the efi_bootloader_mbr and both of the Vanilla kernel options.

I'll post a screenshot of booting with "-v", soon..

While doing a bootfix, following a dual/triple-boot guide, I confirmed the deletion of a file called "ACPIPowerManagement.kext"- maybe that's why I am getting the kernel panic?I'm trying the install again, but now checking if Leopard boots, before doing any boot fixing.

Update:

Installed again, without doing a boot fix, and it worked like a charm. :)Now continuing to the rest of the guide..

My Windows XP partition is still missing, and I can't boot into XP, as it doesn't even shows up as a boot option.

Also, I accidentally selected to install my on-board audio card driver, and I want to install another audio card instead, which has a Mac driver.

How can I uninstall the on-board audio card driver?
