Moesalim
OK I just tried to flash my BIOS (ASRock 4Core1600P35 WIFI) with the BIOS for ASRock 4Core1600P35 WIFI+ and the MF***** said Error: File ROM ID incorrect. Even though I asked the ASRock technical team if the two MOBOs used the same identical BIOS. So so disappointed. was really getting excited that I might be able to use MAC OS X today .......Does anyone know what's happened to Kabyl? I don't think he has replied anyone in the last 10 days or more.....I hope he's ok and will be back on track soooooooon Maybe anyone else experienced in modifying BIOS? I will really DONATE to whoever does a working MOD BIOS for me I see David Tsu, and Order Out of Chaos seem to know how to do it.......................PLEASE HELPPPPPP!!!!!! Moe Hello Mr. Kabyl. I appreciate the work you do.The world would be a better place if there were more like you. I have also a request for a modded BIOS. Mobo: AsRock 4CORE1600 Twins P35 CPU : e2180 sata HDD and sata DVD-RW (because of the JMicron controller) Problem: I can't even boot the DVD without the "cpus=1" flag excepting Kalyway 10.5.2, for Leo4All I need that flag and also for any Tiger distro. Also for any Iatkos DVD(v1,v2,v3,4) it is impossible to boot I get an error, something like :Apple.com.<dunno> has dependencies on both apple.<smth> and <apple.kernel.<smth> (i don't remember the exact syntax). Yesterday I downloaded from a bay an iso called "Leo4Allv4" , I checked the homepage, and the latest one is v3 but I gave it a shot and I could boot just with "-v" flag but after the installation i wasn't able to boot into OS X without "cpus=1" so it was something like a false alarm, just wanted to report this, maybe it helps somehow. Link to BIOS: http://download.asrock.com/bios/775/4Core1...s-P35(1.40).zip http://download.asrock.com/bios/775/4Core1...s-P35(1.40).zip Note:A friend with the same mobo(but different cpu, think it was e4300) found a hacked BIOS on the internet,he couldn't remember where he got it from, but it didn't work. Maybe there needs something else to be done for my configuration. Is it possible to make a version that can be flashed from Windows? or do I have to buy a floppy disk drive?(wouldnt be that bad, if this would be the price for both cores working:D ) Thank you very much. Have you checked here? http://osrom.net/biosmod/ I think ur MOBO has already been done before bro Moe
Moesalim
Hi Kabyl Ran into the same problem, running osx 10.5.2 Kalyway+Jas 10.4.8 sse2 patch+cpus=1 (vanilla kernel) on this hardware: Asrock4Core1600P35-WiFi+ Intel q6600 2gb ram Radeon hd2600XT. Installation works fine, without boot flags, but when starting to boot from harddisk , it gets stuck on the "using 10485 buffer headers and 4096 cluster headers" line. after installing the jas sse2 patch it no longer hangs, but will reboot loop if i don't use cpus=1 flag. Is there any workaround for it apart from modifying the bios? you were mentioning a kext earlier in a post.... And here are the bios files: windows version link: http://www.asrock.com/mb/from.asp?Model=4C...T=B&ID=1653 dos version link: http://www.asrock.com/mb/from.asp?Model=4C...T=B&ID=1652 Thank you! Hello there cealapa, do u think u could help me with a mod BIOS for ASRock 4Core1600P35-WiFi (please note it's not the WIFI+ version) I'm gettin a bit desperate now http://www.asrock.com/mb/download.asp?Mode...T=B&ID=1650 Thnx and would appreciate the help

Moe Have you checked here? http://osrom.net/biosmod/ I think ur MOBO has already been done before bro Moe Yes, I did try there. But nothing happens it's almost* like the original BIOS/ *I noticed that the kernel panic I get when booting Kalyway 10.5.2 without "cpus=1" flag ,is somehow differen, there aren't any files pointed as potential source for the panic ,instead I get lots of hex code(I think it's hex). I'm starting to loose my faith, everything works great but the performance could be better with both cores. Is there anybody who has my mobo and similar specs that can confirm this BIOS works ?? If so, which distro did u use ? I have tryed them all, no kidding, all 10.4 and 10.5 I could find. Is there anybody else who's making modified BIOS'es ? Thanks. Moesalim
Actually, I modified that bios and produced that file as with all of the files I post. I just downloaded it myself, it extracted fine with WinRAR and the MD5 for the bios matches. I archive all these files with winrar. How are you trying to extract it? In windows or mac os? In both cases you need to download an archive program like winrar for windows or UnrarX for mac. The only archives that you can just double click are .zip archives. Hey there Order2Chaos. You seem to be good at BIOS MOD could u help me out plz? My request is a few posts back. Thanks Moe

limini
Got an HP M9150f with Q6600 (rev G0) on an OEM Asus IPIBL-LB G33/ICH9R motherboard with an nVidia 8500GT card. I'm witnessing the same BIOS incompatibilities: depending on the version, installs stop at "using 15728 buffer headers and 4196 cluster IO buffer headers", or I get an automatic restart after the first load in. I can also get this message "Extension "com.apple.driver.ACPI_SMCPlatformPlugin" has immediate dependencies on both com.apple.kernel and com.apple.kpi components; use only one style". I also suspect that if I could get it installed, I'd still have to deal with the 4-core issue. 9150f525.rar Thanks helping if you can **UPDATE: I actually managed to get Kalyway 10.5.1 installed with the "vanilla cpus=1" options. But with no parameters, the restart just freezes at the grey Apple. With "-v cpus=1" I get to "using 15728 buffer headers and 4196 cluster IO buffer headers" and that's it. FYI. kwjenkins
Hey there, I'm placing a request also for a HP pavillion elite m9040n, the problems are deeply listed with me an a couple of others with the same bios upgrade problem. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=98145# the board is: ASUS IPIBL-LA / Berkeley-GL8E and the link for the current sucky HP bios: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwar...0550&dlc=en this bios issue with this machine has been winding me up since may, no installer ever gets past any apple menu, with no amount of flags, etc. So any investigation/attempt to fix, I would be super grateful, as would the others in said thread. thanks again! MGJulius
Hey i was wondering if you could make a modded bios for my ASUS F8P-X2B laptop You'll find the bios here http://dlsvr04.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/F8P/F8SAP302AS.zip Processor: Intel C2D T8100 Chipset: GM965/PM965 (seen both) Graphics: ATi Mobility HD 2400 Problem: When i boot into Kalyway 10.5.2 "with cpus=1" it halts on "extension com.apple.driver.ACPI_SMC_Plugin_Platfrom has dependencies on both com.apple.kernel and com.apple.components" Also three questions (anyone can answer these) 1) If i do get a modded bios how do i get it to work (do i have to flash it or something)? 2) Can i restore my old bios if i want to? 3) Will this solve my ACPI issues with kalyway and iATKOS and let me use the vanilla kernel? Thx in advance
limini
1) If i do get a modded bios how do i get it to work (do i have to flash it or something)? Yes you have to flash it or something You have to use the recommended procedure for your motherboard; usually the BIOS flash procedure is documented in the manual, or the support pages for your device. It's critical that it's done correctly and with the right tool (if required). 2) Can i restore my old bios if i want to? Depends on whether or not the modded BIOS works. If you flash with a bad BIOS, or you do an incomplete flash (interrupt the process) only your manufacturer (or a very knowledgeable and resourceful technician) will be able to help you. Otherwise you can simply reflash with the old BIOS. BTW, make sure you have a copy of the old BIOS before you flash... 3) Will this solve my ACPI issues with kalyway and iATKOS and let me use the vanilla kernel? Possibly, depending on what you mean by "ACPI issues". This mod address some pretty specific issues discussed in the very first post on this thread. Please read that post carefully! glitchbit
hey, Kabyl it has been awhile since I have posted in here, and I see you now have an Asus laptop. Wish mine had the finger scanner -.-. Anyways my Asus is still running strong and I just upgraded my desktop to a 4Core1600P35-WiFi motherboard (without the plus, simply because newegg did not have those in stock) this means mine does not have Firewire built in (did not matter to me because I have a PCI card for it already). I followed David Tsu's guide, while it was a little bit lacking it was detailed and clear enough for me to get it done! I just modded and flashed my own BIOS for this board. I will post it and email it to you once I have OSX installed.
glitchbit
well I can't install iATKOS with all 4 cores during the install (not sure what will happen after) is this normal? I can set it for cpus=2 and it goes on just fine as does cpus=1, but if I type cpus=4 it does not work or if nothing other than -v then it does not work?? UPDATE I am now booted up into OSX however cpus=2 does not seem to work... cpus=1 did.... here in a second I am about to double check that firmware I made and make sure I flashed over the correct file.. if not then this will take me a bit of time to resolve as I deleted my Vista partition which had the tools and files I used. However I am not stupid, I transfered them to another. Also sound and the wifi card does not seem to work right off the bat as some had me to believe about this motherboard.. that's not really an issue but that was part of the reason why I purchased this motherboard.... Also I have one of the new q9300 cpus.. so that could mean that my issue may just be in finding the right kernel to use. I am backing this up to my backup partition so if I screw it up during the setup process I will be back up and running in a matter of minutes and I will not have to screw around with the terminal for every mistake. david tsu
Dell laptop users, there is a kernel to run all cores. This may work for other laptop users also and maybe even some desktop issue you guys are having (maybe). I have tested this kernel at the link and it works perfectly with Inspiron 9400. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=117558 -DTsu

CyberEvil
Hi Folks, Thanks for the hand you're giving us on this. I have a MSI P965 Platinum Motherboard. Everything was working great (using the BIOS default). Suddenly my computer started to shutdown by itself (all OSes, not only my Kalyway 10.5.3). Thought it was the PSU, then replaced it. Did the same, then cleaned every fan. Did the same, then changed the video card. And so on... Thought about updating the Mobo's Bios, and chan! it worked! Now it works without shutting down, on all OSes. But Leopard didn't like the new Bios and gets stuck at login at the same point seen some of you are getting stuck. This is the updated Bios for my mother: http://download1.msi.com.tw/files/download...exe/7238v18.zip Video Card: XFX 8800 GTX Is it possible to patch this Bios? Thank you a lot! ~Cyber
