mrheat
moin kabyl do you know if its possible to change speedstep p-states anywhere in dsdt? my laptops stuck @ 2 x1ghz but capable of 2 x1,83ghz speedstep in leo doesnt work because of the 1ghz limit of the cpu throttler kext, so changing the lowest to 1,1 ghz would help i think

th3d00d
can anyone tell me how can i know, if all the cores are working or not. Hey, in finder browse to applications/Utilities Theres a system performace icon in there that will tell you Oooh, or you can just click on the apple logo, then about this mac, then more info... either will do. A BIOS mod is also an option... Is this Bios Mod will work with the ASROCK Wolfdale1333-D667 R2.0? I installed the Leo4all distro and the only way to run it is with the cpus=1. Greetings... karterilla
Hi Kabyl, do not know if this is possible. I'm trying from almost a month to install Leo on an Asus DSEB-DG a dual Xeon MoBo. There is no way only CPUS=1 and only 10.5.1: no way to upgrade to 10.5.2 with any kernel any AppleACPIFamily. Always stop at buffers headers and cluster IO and freeze or reboot immediately. Do you think it is possible to apply your method to a "MacPro like" xeon board? The link to the bios is this: http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socket.../DSEBDG1003.zip Thanks

VooD
Kabyl, I'm desperated, I just bought an Acer 5920G just for Os X (the guys in the shop are not accepting returns), first the notebook completly crashed in the middle of the installation, so I decided install the newest bios. Now the installer halts with :"Extension "com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPlatfrom" has immediate dependecies on both com.apple.kernel and com.apple.kpi components; use only one style." I know this failure is related to what your patches fix on the bios, (a couple of days ago used a patched bios from you to install another notebook with the same error message) Can you help me? The lastest bios is: ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/asp...a/BIOS/3811.zip Thanks in advance.

BuXb
Wow awesome work and service you are doing here, Kabyl, I am deeply impressed! Me and Mentorek, both Toshiba Laptop users, have been trying ourselves to rebuild our Phoenix BIOSes because of faulty entries in the DSDT table, which prevent most of the periphery (LAN, WLAN, sound) to work in non-MS OSes. Toshiba openly refuses to fix this because they only want to support Windows, and our efforts compiling with the latest versions of both Phoenix BIOS Editor and MS ASL Compiler always failed . So we would be much more than happy if you could please give inserting the correct DSDT table and compiling the BIOS with it a shot . Here's the link to the latest BIOS 4.2 from the Toshiba site for my Laptop (Mentorek has a slightly different model); the DSDT table as corrected by him is attached to this posting. If you need any more information feel free to let me know, I have links to the postings in the Linux forums where our friends have solved this issue by injecting the corrected DSDT into the kernel itself, then recompiling the kernel. Thank you very much (hoping) Cheers, Bugs PS: Chun-Nan contributes a modded IOPCIFamily.kext which sorts out faulty DSDT entries while our iHacks boot, which fixed LAN and WLAN for me, so now all which remains to be fixed is sound, which seems to rely directly on the DSDT table in the BIOS ..
