Hey guys,

I would like to warn a couple of people using the modified asus a7S bios.

It completly {censored}ed up my notebook,

Asus had to replace my motherboard and my graphics card. Both were overused by a wrong version of the bios Asus told me, plus some other things they could not explain.. (osx86?)

So, if you want to flash the bios, make sure the bios version you are using is made for YOUR notebook.

Tested distributions that seem to work now: iAtkos_10.5.5, iDeneb_10.5.5

thank you for this bios, it's exactly the same as one for a M50VM - B1. today i have loaded iPC's excellent OSX Distro. before your bios (i used the rapidshare version) it would boot from the dvd and restart right away. with your bios, it started the install right away!! now to configure and get as much as i can working!! ethernet works otb and the synaptec touchpad works otb.

thank you to all the member's for all your hard work!! (would have been impossible without the support and help from this forum)

it's off to get my display going properly

Just one quick question if anyone knows: if one uses the Vodoo kernel none of this matters, right? (At least with me, with the Vodoo kernel I can use both my cores). This is only if one wants to rather use a vanilla kernel (where I too had to use cpus=1 to get it to boot)?

I had a million problems with the vanilla kernels, but as soon as I switched to the the Vodoo kernel everything (GPU/cores/SATA) worked right off the bat...

Would the bios for GIGABYTE GA-EP45-DQ6 motherboard be doable this way, too?

(w/Intel Q6600 quad core cpu)

Or perhaps someone's tried this model already, and I just missed it, while doing the search?

Here is it's BIOS link, in case someone's willing to take a look and help.

asia.giga-byte.com/FileList/BIOS/motherboard_bios_ga-ep45-dq6_f12.exe

By the way, are there any links for the tools to decompile/recompile such things,

available somewhere?

Sorry for newbie question. (ASUS F3s V) But can i ask...

1. Assuming i need to update my BIOS how do I find out which one I currently have and which one I need? I assume there are tools that allow me to flash the BIOS although I'll have to fgure this one out as I only did this wih floppy drives in the past (I assume USB drives dont work with the DOS based flash uitlities)

2. Once Ive done this should I be able to get into ANY sort of a GUI with Kalyway 10.5.1 as I never got ANYWHERE with iATKOS 5i (it would alwasy reboot almost instantly after a brief flash of the grey mac logo. Can you tell me what I should typ at the "boot;" prompt?

Many thanks. Sorry if these are stupid questions, but I'm new to all of this

Oh! I found bios mod at www.osxcores.site50.net and i'm happy!

Also osrom.net/biosmod is a good web-resource!

If u have AMI BIOS u should copy original bios as AMIBOOT.ROM on floppy!

If ur computer don't wonna boot u can use Control+Home keys and install original bios!

U can reboot after 4 beeps.

If u have Award BIOS u should make autoexec.bat for bios auto installation

and use this floppy if ur computer don't wonna boot.

I've Download all the bios, Starting from page 68. to 74.

I'll get them done soon, if your bios is not listed on my site, then there was a link problem, or I had to look for your bios with the link you gave, Which I wont do.

Check back later,

Thx m8, I really appreciate it!

No problem, they will be done later today, as there was around 50 or so.

At the moment I'm doing them here and there, as I look for a new netbook, one that is mostly OSX ready out of the box.

MSI wind is the one I'm thinking of, but I like the Netbook that has the dvd burner in it as well.

oh, what to do, lol.

*EDIT* 2/3/09 8:08pm

Finally done editing the bios, I'll be adding them soon to the Website. I'll post an update once done.

Thanks,

-OMN

Yes, a Modded bios should fix that issue, or you can hit F8 before booting to type CPUS=1 boot flag to boot up with only 1 Core, there is many posts regarding this subject.

Also, with your Notebook I would think it would support USB booting, as well there are many Subject regarding this. Most the time you can hit F11 for other boot options, I know on my Notebook it's F12, so pending your setup it could be different.

You might try google.com to find out how to Flash you Notebook.

You might also look to see if your Notebook supports HPET & Execute BIT enabling ( XD, I think it the Short hand ).

These Must be turned on as well in most setups, If XD is turned on, try turning it off, I know with my system turned off will let me boot using 1 Core to make Changes to the System.
