coolbgdog
I got the unpatched dmg converted to iso applied patch and boom install went through easily and osx boots and works fine. Core graphics and quartz extreme work with my ati radeon 9600 pro. Osx is real fast too. Only problem is the sound is on one speaker, internet doesnt work and itunes says its expired. Any way to fix this? Btw anyone else who haven't installed it yet I suggest dont use the pre patched one as it has a lot of problems to boot for a lot of people. My specs are Intel Celeron 2.4ghz,768mb Ram,Ati Radeon 9600 pro and onboard sound. I just need the internet and the sound to work and the screen is off to the right a little. Any help please? jbjonas
Congrats... I don't know why, but I too have had nothing but trouble with prepatched images. The fix for itunes is easy... uninstall the timed version by deleting it from the applications folder, then just go to apples site to download and install a new version. The thing about sound on one side- I know I have seen that on here, not sure if there is a solution - do a search of the forum. And your internet. I'm guessing your ethernet card is just not recognized. Give us some more detailed specs about your motherboard, and what kind of sound, ethernet is built in, etc. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/8993-finally-got-it-to-work/#findComment-55893 Share on other sites
coolbgdog
My network built in card is VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter with Asrock P4VM800 mobo, VIA P4M800 pro chipset and VIA AC'97 Enhanced Audio Controller built in. jbjonas
Well, your ethernet is listed on the unsupported page as "VIA RHINE I, II & III. But there's in project a driver's construction (see forum)" http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...hardware_10.4.3 I suggest throwing in a cheap compatible NIC just for OS X (see my signature) Try searching the wiki or forum for your sound problem Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/8993-finally-got-it-to-work/#findComment-55899 Share on other sites
R. Bear Helms
AC97 sound is addressed in the Wiki under the "Audio" heading. Most motherboard sound resources can at least be configured to be AC97 compatible in the BIOS. I'm working on my own AC97 problem, too. coolbgdog
My sound work its just that its only working on one speaker. On windows both speakers work. Also the dvd player starts to work then it crashes and I think I have an ethernet card laying around somewhere. jbjonas
If you're talking about 'DVD Player.app' I know that a lot of people haven't been able to get that to work. I think it has something to do with not having full graphics support (no Core Image or Quartz Extreme). Try using VLC (a great video player) to play DVDs. http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/X86_software#VLC If OS X doesn't seem to like your actual DVD-Rom or burner, try this tip from the wiki http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...on-Apple_drives Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/8993-finally-got-it-to-work/#findComment-56010 Share on other sites
Metrogirl
Congrats... I don't know why, but I too have had nothing but trouble with prepatched images. It's true that a lot of people have trouble with pre-patched images. Both the JaS and Wesley images have a history of installing but refusing to reboot afterwards and I've spent a lot of time trying to guide people through the problems. The issue seems to be some of the kexts that clash with certain hardware; we discovered that some ATI chipsets really don't like the kexts in the pre-patched dists. Fortunately the Wiki is full of useful information. Thank you R. Bear Helms for your great work here! I think that if anyone has the ability they are far better off taking the original DMG and patching it with the minimum required to get it to install on their system, then loading kexts as needed to bring all their hardware on line. Please help You can find a workaround for QE and CI in the FAQ on omni's site but as soon as your OSX crashes badly for the first time after applying it you won't miss QE and CI much, believe me... ...perhaps it's just me but I can live without it as long as have a proper resolution...
