R. Bear Helms
The Installation guides are what ultimately got me going. I found I had to give up on one method and try another. Creating a partition for OS X to install upon is good, especially if you can make the partition id=AF on its creation. A lot of these guides assume just doing this partitioning is all you need for the install to work. Not necessarily so. If you can at least boot the install DVD, choose Disk Utility from the Utilities menu after you select a language. Then that should have a way to find and erase the partition. Once the erase procedure is finished, OS X is then ready to install and should show that volume in the list of destinations to install on. Please also see the Technical FAQ in the Wiki - I tend to edit that every day or two, despite being rather lost in getting my own OSx86 working well myself.
