How to get 2-Finger (or 1-finger) scrolling working on MOST laptop trackpads

Hi !

I got it working, the only problem is that when I restart the computer the scroll becomes unstable as if it were with a zAcceptance... different from 90 (my own magic number).

If I kill the deamon and start it again from the console, it works like a charm once more, but I have to do it everytime I start my Hackintosh.

Is there any way to fix this?, am I the only one?

Thanks, great work, I love my Hackintosh :)

Thank you all for your valuable input. I have this working on my Dell Inspiron 6000. The tracking speed is slow, like it is for a lot of people, but I have found that by moving the tracking speed to max and adjusting the threshold for scrolling, it's pretty manageable and definitely worth keeping. I find, however, that I can scroll from anywhere on the pad and cannot limit it to the right edge. Also, it will only respond to two fingers, not one. No biggie. Good job.

A bit of a strange one... haven't read about anyone else having this issue.

I have it working with scroll and clicking and all but when tracking using the trackpad the pointer freezes. I let go and start tracking again and it works for another few moments.

Same with drag and drop, if I double tap the trackpad and start dragging something I can drag it for about an inch but then it stop. If I use the button to drag it's fine and doesn't freeze.

I have an XPS M1530 with alps trackpad.

I'm having the exact same issue...any solutions?

I tried to use FF on my HP Pavillion dv6263us but no success.

I lost a LOT of precision on tap click. Couldn't make 2-finger or even 1-finger scroll to work. Actually worked in a very strange way.

I got rid of it.

Any alternative solution to a simple scroll using the pad? I mean, I just wanna use the right side of the trackpad to scroll vertically. Is this possible?

thanks

Confirmed working on stoneage Acer Travelmate 800 Series with Leopard 10.5.1 (Kalyway if that matters).

The Threshold setting of 90 was a bit hard, going with 50 is pretty good for a start - might need some more tweaking, but works.

Great findings ranova!

Hi all.

Thanks for the tutorial, I have an MSI Wind like with Msiwindosx86 (10.5.4), so I've tried your tips.

I've followed carefully your instructions, and the only thing I have is a very very very strong sensitivity with the touchpad the first minute after boot. Then sensitivity become normal after a little time.

However, tap click and scrolling does not work at all, I don't understand why.

Any idea please ?

Works OK on my Dell Vostro 1510

still need to do some tweaking to get it right. Going up is better than going down
