Sleep froze my computer when it was enabled so I turned it off and disabled the sleep my hard drives option. I was building a new box for music production and I was fully intending to use Windows. This Hackintosh adventure was merely an experiment that turned out way better than I ever expected. When I purchased the components for my build, I got a really great deal on a 500GB HD that I didn't really need so I was planning on experimenting with OSX86 there. I haven't switched back to Windows since I got this up and running. I installed MacFUSE and now I can see and read the 2 Win HD's that are also in my box. My Hackintosh is fully functional, completely stable and is simply blowing me away. No real issues other than the display quirk above. Thanks everybody! Guest cavallo
We're looking to update the Leopard 10.5.2 HCL in the Wiki and so we need all our members who've successfully installed 10.5.1 on their systems to submit their systems details. The Wiki is the first stop for members when they look to install OS X on their PCs and so it's incredibly important that it be as extensive as possible, and that can only happen with your help. To find out the details of your system in OS X you can use (anyone care to recommend something)...and in Windows you can use Everest. To visit the Wiki click on OSx86 Project on the top right of every InsanelyMac page. To make it easier to enter your system specifications, it's important that the template below is used when submitting. Simply copy/paste it all and fill in the relevant areas. State what is and is not supported with you hackintosh. If patching was required to get something working, please provide a link to the topic you used, so it may help others with similar systems. As tempting as it maybe please refrain from asking questions regarding other members systems. This is not the place for this! If you need to ask a question then use the relevant forum or PM the member directly. Posts distracting from the purpose of this topic will be removed. Current OS X Version: 10.5.2 Desktop/Laptop? Reveeen
From the guy that brought you the "dumpster Mac", we now have Leopard up, and running. With a little help from: leo4all http://osx86leo4all.wikidot.com/start The board: ASRock P4i65G, IDE hardrive and Pioneer DVD drive, 1g of DDR, P4 Prescott @3ghz http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=P4i65G&s=n The "flaky" stuff: PS2 keyboard requires PS2 mouse, otherwise the keyboard gets lost. A Celeron "D" 325 (2.53ghz) did not have enough "push". The release specific: Realtek lan mis-identified, but working, generic AC'97 driver pac working, included Nvidia drivers for a FX5200 out to lunch. Overall: OK, but will require some fine tuning. Probably a better choice for a video card (6300?), and another gig of ram. I have $100 invested. macbrush
Desktop/Laptop? Desktop Prebuilt? (Y/N) N Install Methods summary: (List all methods tested, check preferred method - the one you are writing about now) Because the system was moved from an AMD system, it was actually installed from Leopard-10.5.2-AMD-EFI-Rev2.iso. I had to restored a few frameworks to get everything going. But the OS was bootable with only a few unusable apps and services straight after moving the HD from AMD system to this Intel based system. Also needed a new version of NVInject (0.2.1) for my 8800GT, a new SMBIOS to ironout a few glitches, and ToH kernel to fix timing problem. I also had to increase the PCIe frequency to 107MHz in order for the vid card to work as PCIe x16 every time instead of sometimes it fall back to PCIe x1, but this prevent me from using the internal firewire port for sound which is on PCIe bus, needed an extra PCI friewire card to get good sound from firewire sound device. Does EFI and/or the Vanilla kernel work? (example: partitioned as MBR, EFI v8 + Vanilla Kernel) GUID, EFI v.8 + ToH Kernel, Vanilla Kernel will boot, but sound will have heavy jittering, and USB sometimes cease to function. extremeae
I removed the post. I misread the title in the post. Will delete the info here and post in the 10.5.1 thread. Btw, I noticed that when I upgrade to 10.5.2, the OSX seems to boot slower. I don't know if anyone experience this slowness after upgrading. ingalz
AMD System: Processor: Athlon X2 4600+ Mobo: Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe (Nforce 570 MCP) Memory: Corsair 1G x 2 (Also, 1G x 4 tests OK) DDR2-PC-6400 Lan: For built in controller, Use patch * Lan: Tested PCI 3COM 3C905C, all functions work OOB except for bonjour, therefore no AFP or itunes sharing. Lan: Tested PCI Netgear GA311 (realtek 8169S), all functions work OOB except for bonjour, therefore no AFP or itunes sharing. Lan: Tested PCI Intel Pro/1000 MT (RC82540EM), identifies card OOB, but system hangs (you must reboot message) at random times (usually when using any programs that cause appreciable net traffic) Audio: Select Azalia audio at install (only analog out tested) Video: GeForce 7300GS 256M (select at install) QE/CI Work fine Disk: SATA - Install failed using GUID partition, MBR install completed and works fine DVD: Pioneer SATA Works (Didn't test burning) Keyboard: Logitech MX5000, athough the MX-5000 BT transceiver isn't recognized as a BT device. MacSense BlueTooth: Identified as Cambridge Silicon Radio, tests OK with Palm Centro and Nintendo WiiMote Disk Controller: 3WARE 9650SE-4LPML ** Works great! (I did not attempt to use this as a boot drive, but it is supposedly possible). * Most functions work. Inbound traffic OK at full speed. Outbound is very limited to 200 Kbytes/sec. System seems stable after couple hours of browsing and transferring over SMB. Bonjour not working, therefore no itunes sharing or AFP. ** Management software works with AMCC sidecar package. I needed to manually install the driver kext, then the management software recognized the device. 4 disk RAID5 array works great. Sequential writes are 65 MByte/sec and reads at 220 MBytes/sec using 4x7200.10 500MB 'cudas (about a 5x speed improvement over same hardware configuration using an OS that rhymes with krista, go figure...). Install Method: Zephyroth 10.5.2rev2, efi v.8 9.2.0, MBR install works fine; GUID install "failed" and didn't boot. BIOS set to defaults. Notes: Everything works pretty well with a couple exceptions. I cannot get bonjour to work. Tried 3 different NICs, as I understand this is a common issue with many hackintosh NIC's. Front row will occasionally crash when streaming online video, other functions OK. Shutdown/Restart works about 80% of the time, otherwise full power off (not motherboard reset) is required to boot properly. Sleep doesn't work (wakes up to blank screen). Time Machine update causes boot problems. All other updates to date work OK. If you have any questions regarding the Leopard HCL, then please contact the Wiki Team. ~Posts which have been used to update the Leopard HCL shall be deleted to help the members updating the HCL better manage the task~ . Important Note: The Wiki is now open to the public so if members wish they may go there directly and enter their details. Please remember to fill in the Computer/Laptop sections if your system is a prebuilt one as well as the Components section. Also if you've already inputted your details in the Wiki then you should not also post them in this thread! It will only be deleted and causes the process of updating the wiki from here to slow down.
