Mebster
We're looking to update the Leopard 10.5.2 HCL in the Wiki and so we need all our members who've successfully installed 10.5.1 on their systems to submit their systems details. The Wiki is the first stop for members when they look to install OS X on their PCs and so it's incredibly important that it be as extensive as possible, and that can only happen with your help. To find out the details of your system in OS X you can use (anyone care to recommend something)...and in Windows you can use Everest. To visit the Wiki click on OSx86 Project on the top right of every InsanelyMac page. To make it easier to enter your system specifications, it's important that the template below is used when submitting. Simply copy/paste it all and fill in the relevant areas. State what is and is not supported with you hackintosh. If patching was required to get something working, please provide a link to the topic you used, so it may help others with similar systems. As tempting as it maybe please refrain from asking questions regarding other members systems. This is not the place for this! If you need to ask a question then use the relevant forum or PM the member directly. Posts distracting from the purpose of this topic will be removed. Current OS X Version: 10.5.2 Desktop/Laptop? If you have any questions regarding the Leopard HCL, then please contact the Wiki Team. ~Posts which have been used to update the Leopard HCL shall be deleted to help the members updating the HCL better manage the task~ . Important Note: The Wiki is now open to the public so if members wish they may go there directly and enter their details. Please remember to fill in the Computer/Laptop sections if your system is a prebuilt one as well as the Components section. Also if you've already inputted your details in the Wiki then you should not also post them in this thread! It will only be deleted and causes the process of updating the wiki from here to slow down. skyhighmac
Introduction Ok guys. It seems we're getting a lot of people who are for some reason or another posting in HCL threads like these. That's absolutely fine if you're not comfortable with entering data in the wiki but if you are comfortable editing the wiki then please don't post your details here also. So to help those confused when it comes to adding your stuff to the wiki I will show you how you can add in your info correctly. Lets start from the beginning. How to get to the wiki. You have to click on the "OSx86 Project" text on the top right corner of any InsanelyMac page. I am currently logged in, so if you aren’t logged in or don’t have an account, you will need to take care of that now. You are required to have an account to edit the wiki! Then scroll down the page, and find the Hardware section. Then you will need to find your version, whether it be 10.5.1, 10.5.2, and so on. Then, click on either Components, Portable Computers or Desktop Computers. The Desktop Computers page is only for pre-built desktops from the manufacturer, not ones you build yourself. Obviously Laptops are prebuilt ones too. I’ll now cover how to add info to each of the three sections: Components, Portable Computers and Desktop Computers. Components -Motherboard We are going to start with adding your motherboard. Using the nice little contents list, find and click on your manufacturer. Across from the name, click the [edit] button. Then you will be shown some code. Everything is organized by chipset, and then alphabetically in the motherboard section. I recommend having another tab/window open so you know where you should insert you system. To insert your system in the appropriate place use this code: (The red text is text you should replace with your actual information) |- < Make sure this is at the beginning and end of your system, no need for two, just one |Motherboard Model |Chipset (Northbridge & Southbridge) | * Install Method: * BIOS Version:; Revision: * Audio: Model, List any patches used (including ones from the install DVD) * LAN: Model, List any patches used (including ones from the install DVD) * SATA & IDE: Does SATA work? Any options in BIOS or Patches? Same thing with IDE * Optical Drive: Which one? Any weird problems with installation? * Do shutdown, reboot and sleep work? * Any other details |Does PC-EFI and/or the Vanilla Kernel work on your system? |Does everything work without patching? If no, say what needs patching |- < Make sure this is at the beginning and end of your system, no need for two, just one If you haven’t tested a feature, then write “Not Tested” If you are just to lazy to find out, write “Unknown” Click “Show Preview “ to make sure you did everything right, then enter the CAPTCHA (the letters from the image) and then click “Save Page” -Processor Now we will add your processor. The processor sections are again, organized by model. Pentiums, then Core 2 Duo, C2 Quads, C2Es and Xeons, (Same kind of thing with the AMD section) Again follow the code, replace the red with your info: |- < Make sure this is at the beginning and end of your system, no need for two, just one |Your processor manufacturer, series, then model. An example: Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 |Anything special selected at install? Does it work right? If so, put “Fully Working” |What does system profiler see your processor as? |Is it fully working without any patches? (Put Vanilla Kernel right here if it works, if not tested, just don't add) |- < Make sure this is at the beginning and end of your system, no need for two, just one Again, click “Show Preview “ to make sure you did everything right, then enter the CAPTCHA (the letters from the image) and then click “Save Page” -Video Card Now to the video card. This section, is firstly ordered by series. Again follow the code, replace the red with your info: |- < Make sure this is at the beginning and end of your system, no need for two, just one |Your Board Model & Memory. ex. GeForce 8800GT 512MB |Board Manufacturer ex. EVGA |Patches Used, if any. If none needed, write “No Patch Needed” |Do QE and CI work? |Can you change resolutions? |Does it fully work without patches? |- < Make sure this is at the beginning and end of your system, no need for two, just one Again, click “Show Preview “ to make sure you did everything right, then enter the CAPTCHA (the letters from the image) and then click “Save Page” Woila! Please read the Conclusion as well! Portable Computers Find your manufacturer, then click [edit]. Remember, keep it alphabetized. Here is the code for laptops, again, replace the red text with your info: === Your Model, ex. Latitude D530 === * Install Method: * Chipset: (Northbridge & Southbridge) * Processor: * Audio: Model, List any patches used (including ones from the install DVD) * LAN: Model, List any patches used (including ones from the install DVD) * Video: Model * SATA & IDE: Does SATA work? Any options in BIOS or Patches? Same thing with IDE * Any other details, specific install requirements, etc. * How to install: (If anything major, not the basics) *# < Use this for indent for the How To Install Click “Show Preview “ to make sure you did everything right, then enter the CAPTCHA (the letters from the image) and then click “Save Page” Woila! Please read the Conclusion as well! Desktop Computers Find your manufacturer, then click [edit]. Remember, keep it alphabetized. Here is the code for desktops, again, replace the red text with your info: === Your Model, ex. Dimension 300 === Install Method: Board: Chipset: (Northbridge & Southbridge) Processor: * Audio: Model, List any patches used (including ones from the install DVD) * LAN: Model, List any patches used (including ones from the install DVD) * SATA & IDE: Does SATA work? Any options in BIOS or Patches? Same thing with IDE * Any other details, specific install requirements, etc. * How to install: (If anything major, not the basics) *# < Use this for indent for the How To Install Click “Show Preview “ to make sure you did everything right, then enter the CAPTCHA (the letters from the image) and then click “Save Page” Woila! Please read the Conclusion as well! Conclusion There you go, if you have any questions feel free to pm me, any of the other Wiki Staff members or a Moderator. Please don’t delete anything like the table headers. Thank you! If you don’t get it just add it to the HCL Thread using the template provided in the first post and we will take care of it! It really isn’t as hard as it looks! Just read and follow my instructions! Also, If you find that your system/parts are already in the wiki, and something is different in your install (Kalyway vs. iATKOS) just add your install method to the install method piece, and then at the bottom of the notes, just add something like this: Kalyway: Audio: etc..... jkspost
If you want to you can add Line6 Toneport UX8 to 10.5.x HCL - Just install the driver/software from their website. I think it's safe to add all Line6 Toneport's in general as they all use the samme driver/software. One little tip which solved my problems with occasionally audio drop outs when playing music in iTunes etc., is try to raise the voltage a little bit (+0.03V) on the motherboard. I had to do this with my GA-P35-DS3L to be able to completely get rid of problems with USB devices. Both in OS X and Windows. Also Frontier Design Alphatrack works as it should with Cubase 4 and Logic 8 in OS X with the driver/software from the manufactures website. kingofthesofas
Ok so here's my hardware: Processor Name: Intel® Core™2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ Processor speed: 2.45 GHz ABIT IP35 Pro motherboard 500 gig Sata HD Sata DVD-RW Drive Geforce 8800 GT 512 mb 8 gigs ram So here are the options I selected in the Iatkos r2 install Bootloader DarwinEFI DarwinEFI Bootlaoder StockACPIPlatform Patches SSE2-SSE3 Kernal System Sata Drivers Apple SMBios.kext Netkas Drivers VGA Geforce 8800 NVinject 512 Network Realtek 8139 Make sure you do a fresh format before you install too, (just in case like me you've done several un-successful installs in the past lol) Th install should go smoothly, getting it to boot was super easy, I'm running Vista on my other hard drive so I used EasyBCD 1.7.1 and used it to add an entry for mac-osx..... suprisingly it worked perfectly without me having to do anything else to edit the bootloader. http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=1 <---link for EasyBCD download the first time it boots up it crashes at the configure keyboard prompt, I'm not sure why but if you try and boot it again it works fine from there on out. The sound will not work at first and the video card will not be detected. Use this to fix the sound: Open Terminal and run these commands cd /System/Library/Extensions sudo pico AppleAzaliaAudio.kext/Contents/Info.plist find <key>IOHDAudioCodecVendorID</key> add: <string>0x10ec0888</string> CTRL + O to save, then CTRL + X so exit. Finally edit AppleAzaliaAudio.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleAzaliaController.kext/Contents/Info.plist sudo pico AppleAzaliaAudio.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleAzaliaController.kext/Contents/Info.plist Find: <key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key> add: <string>0x293e8086</string> press Ctrl + O to save and then Ctrl + X to exit Clean up the system: sudo diskutil repairpermissions / sudo chown -R root:wheel AppleAzaliaAudio.kext sudo chmod -R 755 AppleAzaliaAudio.kext cd /System/Library sudo rm -rf Extensions.mkext Extensions.kextcache reboot and enjoy. (Originally posted here http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...ro+sound+brazil ) To get the video card working use the NVinstallerV.41.pkg you can get it here http://scottdangel.com/blog/?p=23 Everything works great and with my quad core and 8 gigs of ram my computer runs pretty much at the speed of light, my build only costs about 1400 too which to get the same on a mac pro would cost well over 5k I'm using it now for video editing (final Pro installed) The only problem is my firewire doesn't seem to want to work right but I'm working on a solution unless anybody has some input for it Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/88125-hardware-compatibility-list-leopard-1052/#findComment-679058 Share on other sites

th3d00d
Well, after a total uphill struggle, I managed to get osx on my machine, not quite how i'd like, but I'm happy none the less. Current OS X Version: 10.5.2 Desktop Prebuilt? No Install Methods summary: I should let you all know I had massive problems getting the thing to work, in the end I had to start the kalyway 10.5.1 installer with the "cpus=1" switch, otherwise, kp and reboot. After installation (no problems through installation procedure) it hung at 10485 buffers. Reinstalled, again with "cpus=1" but this time in the customise tab, I checked the SSE2 option. This time it would boot, however, I didn't select any drivers for video card or sound, in previous runs, these also caused kp's. After all this the system would boot (still using the "cpus=1" switch, this is a limitation of my mobo's shoddy ACPI implementation (I'm using msi p35 neo)). Once in osx I had no sound and video was low res, unchangable and without CI or QE. On a plus side, my ethernet adapter was working OOB. I then used the appleHDA patcher which got my audio working. Finally, using http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=91755, I managed to get my video working too, although I did have to replace the 8800gt device id with my g92 gts device id in the downloaded kext's. This means osx states that my card is an 8800gt, not that I mind, it still say's 512mb memory and CI/QE are both enabled, I can change resolution happilly and it's all silky smooth. Finally, I installed the kalyway 10.5.2 update and subsequent online updates (except airport and time machine updates). Does EFI and/or the Vanilla kernel work? As far as I know, Yes, it is formatted as efi_mbr, but I've had to enable SSE2, so not sure whether that's still a vanilla kernel. Motherboard Manufacturer: MSI Motherboard Model: P35 Neo Chipset: intel P35 BIOS Version: , Revision: BIOS version 1.2 BIOS setup options: Enabled "disable execute bit, SATA mode as IDE". Disabled "EIST". Audio: Realtek alc888 worked with the appleHDA patcher. OOB Even after this, even though only on one cpu core, it still runs fast and smooth, I'm impressed. I even installed unreal 2004, no problem, full graphics detail, silky. Love it, can't wait to get a new motherboard though so I can have all four cores running. More to the point, I couldn't have done this without the aid of your forums, members and irc channel. You've all been a great help changing me from a mac n00b to a mac not-so-n00b. Lets put it this way, I'm no longer afraid of the terminal lol. Thanks again all.
