jsheinz1234
I was just about to ask the same thing...The biggest question is whethere 10.5.2 is safe to install. 10.5.2 is required to run the graphics update. a5c
I installed the 10.5.2 using the Netkas method, and even though my ps/2 mouse and keyboard didn't work, my usb mouse did. I used it to install the graphic update and it installed fine, although it didn't fix my mouse and keyboard. Moral: If you get 10.5.2, the graphic update works fine. Doug the Impaler
worked fine for me - upgraded to 10.5.2 using Netkas' method, installed Leopard GFX update from Software Update. 8800GT 512MB here. finetuned
Hi The 10.5.2 update worked very well for me, everything was working after the update Now I installed the Graphics Update, and things are not so well anymore:I had to restore my old ATIInject, ATINDRV, and ATIRADEONX1000.kext / bundle files to get QE / CI back, but now the apple button is black, and all the menus are black too. Is there a fix for this, or is there any way to uninstall the Graphics Update? Thanks PS: Upon starting Software Update, the Graphics Update is there again, does that mean it was not installed properly? illumin8
worked fine for me - upgraded to 10.5.2 using Netkas' method, installed Leopard GFX update from Software Update. 8800GT 512MB here. I've been holding off on installing my 8800GT 512MB until 10.5.2 came out and the drivers were included. Is there anything I need to do to make it work now that I'm upgraded to 10.5.2 and have the GFX update? I'm wondering if I need a new version of Nvinject or anything like that? Thanks! Doug the Impaler
As I found out the hard way, 10.5.2 doesn't include the 8800GT drivers. If you just install 10.5.2 and then install NVinject, you'll KP (had to boot the DVD and delete NVinject via Terminal commands in order to get back to a booting system). your best best is to install 10.5.2, then the graphics update, THEN nvinject. shamrock73
I installed the 10.5.2 using the Netkas method and after mouse and keyboard didn't work, my external usb mouse/keyboard did Hi I managed to solve this issue by reinstalling previous version of AppleACPIPlatform.kext I suggest you use cmd shell to replace it and run following commands afterwards: sudo -s kextload -t AppleACPIPlatform.kext kextcache -k /System/Library/Extension Afterward be sure to reboot using " -f " option to ignore previously cached kext keyb+mouse work now for me, hope it helps Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/87073-leopard-graphics-update-safe/#findComment-620134 Share on other sites
bidyut
I did the GFX update and now my screen is blue the keyboard works. I can tell everything is running since I can press the volume button and hear it go up and down, and I can also hit the power button and hit RETURN to shutdown the laptop fresh out of ideas Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/87073-leopard-graphics-update-safe/#findComment-620599 Share on other sites
meecrob87
I installed the update successfully, upon reboot i lost QE/CI so then i added my device ID into the new atiradeonx1000.kext or whatever it is, and i have everything working fine now. aunk
I'm using iATKOS v1.0iR2, update to 10.5.2. Success.. Do SoftwareUpdate on Quicktime 7.4.1, iTunes 7.6, FrontRow 2.1.2, iLife'08 Support, everything is fine. But after do SoftwareUpdate Leopard Graphics Update v1.0, i have blue screen on start. My VGA is IntelGMA950 (i945). This is what i've done to fix (back to AppleIntelGMA950 from iATKOS v1.0iR2 DVD) From iATKOS DVD by extracting with Pacifist, file 10.5.1.Intel.pkg (in folder /Volumes/iATKOS\ v1.0i/System/Installation/Packages/ ), it took some times (1.9GB) /System/Library/Extensions/ --AppleIntelGMA950.kext --AppleIntelGMA950GA.plugin --AppleIntelGMA950GLDriver.bundle --AppleIntelGMA950VADriver.bundle --AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext /System/Library/Frameworks/OpenGL.framework/ --Version /usr/libexec/oah/Shims/ --GLEngine.bundle then, i put those files on my systems (replace), repairPermissions, remove /System/Library/Extensions.mkext, then reboot And my iATKOS 10.5.2 back to normal. So, if your graphic card is Intel GMA 950, DON'T DO update LEOPARD GRAPHICS UPDATE! Maybe someone can make this easier, for those who done mess with Leopard Graphics Update? I'm quiet don't know what i do up here, but it works for me to get back with AppleIntelGMA950 from iATKOS DVD. I tried using the fix above with the Kalyway 10.5.1 DVD but so far no luck. Did you extract and replace with pacifist directly or extract to a temp folder then overrite? Vasfed
For me graphics update did no harm Kalyway 10.5.1 + Kalyway 10.5.2 update + Kalyway Vanilla kernel update, the only problem i have - machine does not power off on shutdown Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/87073-leopard-graphics-update-safe/#findComment-625725 Share on other sites

3rd_egg
For me graphics update did no harm Kalyway 10.5.1 + Kalyway 10.5.2 update + Kalyway Vanilla kernel update, the only problem i have - machine does not power off on shutdown I don't know what the Kalyway Vanilla kernel update is so I'm pretty sure I didn't install it... I did use the Kalyway 10.5.2 update. I waited a few weeks before installing this Graphics Update thing, because I feared it would ruin something. Well it did. My resolution that was once 1400*900 now got "reset" to a 1024*768 and I can't change it! (the list in System Preferences > Displays shows only this one resolution). No Detect Display button, nothing! Any ideas?! Even a way to undo or uninstall the Graphics Update?? By the way, even third-party software didn't work. Tyrone Shoe
Graphics Update disabled QE/CI/Hardware Accel. on my machine with an X1600 card. I tried hex editing the X1000 kext again and it won't work. I'm having exactly the same problems with my X1700 based FireGL card. Hex editing the model IDs into the kext only gets me kernel panics after the update.
