thefighter
First of all, I am doing this on vmware, then moving onto native afterwards (As ive tried native, but it always fails because it cannot see my hard drive, only the cd driver) I have patched myself a kernal from maxxuss (with cpuid patch) and nothing else, added it in, and removed TPM. I now need to add in my Extensions. This is where the problems begin. I downloaded a file that tells me to delete the Extensions folder and replace the Extensions.mkext file. When I do this, it works and installs and the mouse and keyboard work during the installation off the dvd. But when mac boots up the mouse or keyboard both don't work. But when I add in extra kexts into the Extensions folder, with the new mkext file. It comes up with an ATAPI error (Can't remember off of the top of my head). Meaning, I can't get the PS2 extensions onto it. I then booted up my dvd again, and found a way (Duno how) to look inside the mkext. I need to extract these files, add in new ones and then re-save the mkext. But, I have no idea how. Can somebody please explain to me (In n00bish steps please, lol) how to do this, on my local hard drive, and not in vmware. Because, I seem to only find programs that are on the Mac dvd, and I don't know how to get them, run them or what have you. Thanks for all your help in advance, im highly confused and don't know what to do! TheFighter EDIT: My keyboard and mouse are both Logitech wireless, and connect through the usb. thefighter
Hardware: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (SSE3 etc) ASUS Motherboard (Sorry cant remember the rest, will find out if needed) Nvidia GeForce 6600 (Maxtor 6L250S0) 250GB Sata Hard Drive 1024MB RAM SONY DVD/RW Drive Logitech Wireless Keyboard and Mouse nForce4 Networking Controller (Which has the standard problems with native sata hard drives) I am using the macosx_10.4.3_8f1111_for_dtk_userdvd.dmg image, converted into an ISO. It has a CPUID error, so I patched a maxxuss kernel for it along with the TPM patch. (I still have the original dmg) Apart from JaS's patch (Because someone with the same IP as me, keeps downloading) ive tried everything. And I can't get it to work. I just need to sort out the extensions, thats all. Everything else works fine. Should I try downloading Darwin or something? I read something about that somewhere. Thanks for your help Sam. thefighter
Well, I got hold of the JaS patch through a different source, but it doesnt work. I got the spinning wheel, with the grey background and apple logo. Then up pops a "You need to restart your computer" Using the DVD that loads to the setup, I will try and type a list of all the kexts in the Extensions.mkext file that makes it work. Because one of them is making it do something. EDIT: JaS patch now works, I'm going to see if it will install. I've just realised that the vmware virtual drive screws up the process, so that means some of my attempts may have worked if I had use Daemon Tools (Not many as most were on Daemon) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/8626-help-please-with-kexts-please/#findComment-54282 Share on other sites
sam_the_killer
SATA + nForce = Not supported (currently) ATA + nForce = supported. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/8626-help-please-with-kexts-please/#findComment-54285 Share on other sites
thefighter
I know its not supported, but it should still get to the installation part. The reason why its working on vmware is because of the IDE emulation. I can get a cable that would convert my drive into IDE, but I don't really want to, seeing as 10.4.4 is supposed to have sata + nforce support (Well, thats what I was told before 10.4.4 was released, don't know about now) Btw, I have edited my last post with extra info. Thanks for all your help Sam. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/8626-help-please-with-kexts-please/#findComment-54293 Share on other sites
