Boot Camp
How do you like your monitor? Does it have a glossy screen? I am in the market for two 24 inch'ersI love it and it is not glossy (just the way I like it). I would recommend this monitor to anyone, especially if your getting two. Also, what am I going to need to add to the "v2" folder (other than replacing the post patch) for the P5W DH Deluxe? Nothing else if I'm going to use EFI strings to fix sound and graphics, right? What can I remove from the "v2" folder that is not needed on the P5W? What kernel do you recommend running the P5W on?
3vj3
How do you like your monitor? Does it have a glossy screen? I am in the market for two 24 inch'ers I'm using a BenQ G2400W 24" and I love it. My decision was between this and a Soyo 24" and I think I made the right choice. The Soyo used to have a better LCD panel but now it has the same one as all the others. It also has a 1 year warranty, no HDCP or HDMI, and it has speakers. The BenQ has a 3 year warranty, HDMI and HDCP (incase I ever hook up a blue-ray drive, and as much as I hate HDCP I'd need it), and no speakers. The monitor was the hardest component of my build to pick (and the most expensive, ouch).

I was looking for a S-IPS monitor or H-IPS like Apple uses in their displays and the latest iMac. But the prices on those screens make me realize that the ACD are not so over priced. I have found a really nice LG that has P-MVA and I'm trying to get some feedback on that technology thanks!!
iSkylla
LTL, great guide but I do have one question. Specs are in sig below but on my Retail install, shutdown and rebot hang, if I boot in verbose, it hangs with a black screen and if I boot regular, it hangs with a spinning wheel. Any ideas? All I had done is replaced the kexts that you specify.

All I had done is replaced the kexts that you specify. What Kernel are you using? It could be the Kernel, it could be your BIOS settings, it could be your video driver, etc so as you can see, it could be one or a combo of variables I would start troubleshooting by documenting what you currently have and then experiment with different variables until you have the right combo that works for your hardware I would start with the Kernel
iSkylla
Yeah, using vanilla kernel right now, I guess I'll replace the kernel from my Kalyway installation and go from there. It's still on 10.5 so I do have to update, too. Note, I am using EFI strings for my video and sound.

LTL
I'm probably going to wait until I get my new SATA HDD, that way I can get off of the dreaded JMicron IDE Controller. Switch kernels...trust me. you dont need to wait.. and you can always switch right back, its really easy. install 9.2.0 Speedstep or Sleep Kernel 1) Using Terminal, rename the “mach_kernel” (9.1.0) in root (/) directory to “mach_kernel_old”. sudo -s cp /mach_kernel /mach_kernel_old 2) Move the “mach_kernel” (9.2.0) from your desktop to root (/) directory. cp ~desktop/mach_kernel /mach_kernel 3) Repair permissions. cd / chown -R root:wheel mach_kernel chmod -R 755 mach_kernel 4) Reboot. iSkylla
Oh I know, I'm quite proficient in UNIX. The reason I'm waiting is because I have 4GB of RAM and I get KPs sometimes when transferring over JMicron due to bad kext support. However, I will try switch kernels now and I'll post back. That Soyo I was talking about used a PMVA display, that's why it was such a hard choice, plus Office Max was having a sale on it for $300. The most recent reviews I've read on it however said that they have started to quietly change the panels to the common TN. Some people who thought they were getting a great deal, ended up returning them when they saw they were TN. Here are some comparison sites I used. http://www.prad.de/en/guide/vergleich_auswahl.html http://www.digitalversus.com http://www.hardforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=
Boot Camp
Other than the post patch for the P5W DH Deluxe, it there anything else that needs to be added tot he installation package? (I don't think, because I plan to fix audio and graphics with EFI strings.) And what can I take out of the install package that is not needed for the P5W DH Deluxe? LTL
After replace the SMBIOS, and run the abode cs3 patch, the CS3 seems run smooth, but after few hours later. It crash again. And I got this crash report yesterday.Any idea? Thanks!which kernel are you using? and maybe something is wrong with your hardware? have you thought about doing a fresh install?Other than the post patch for the P5W DH Deluxe, it there anything else that needs to be added tot he installation package? (I don't think, because I plan to fix audio and graphics with EFI strings.)And what can I take out of the install package that is not needed for the P5W DH Deluxe?Thats why i made you a custom post-patch... so I don't understand why your asking me these questions. As well, I don't have your mobo, so your going to have to actually do some work and or research, test it, and let us know how it goesThat Soyo I was talking about used a PMVA display, that's why it was such a hard choice, plus Office Max was having a sale on it for $300. The most recent reviews I've read on it however said that they have started to quietly change the panels to the common TN. Some people who thought they were getting a great deal, ended up returning them when they saw they were TN. Here are some comparison sites I used.http://www.prad.de/en/guide/vergleich_auswahl.htmlhttp://www.digitalversus.comhttp://www.hardforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=78 So are you saying that PMVA is good technology? Here are the monitors I am looking at:Dell 2408WFP (S-PVA)orLG L246WP-BN (P-MVA)LG L245WP-BN (they are the same)I want 24 inches and my budget runs up to 600... I am scouring sites. I want a bright screen like the 24 inch iMac (which uses H-IPS) but HIPS screens are over 1000... turns out the 24 inch iMac is a steal for the screen alone!!!
