'My front panel's firewire and usb ports all work. I've mounted an external hard drive via firewire and I can use my mp3 player with the usbs.

updated install pack all... install the new SMBIOS and try out the new Kernel... post reports

 

I'm using the new SMBIOS and all good in the hood.

I love it and it is not glossy (just the way I like it). I would recommend this monitor to anyone, especially if your getting two.

 

Also, what am I going to need to add to the "v2" folder (other than replacing the post patch) for the P5W DH Deluxe? Nothing else if I'm going to use EFI strings to fix sound and graphics, right?

LTL, great guide but I do have one question. Specs are in sig below but on my Retail install, shutdown and rebot hang, if I boot in verbose, it hangs with a black screen and if I boot regular, it hangs with a spinning wheel. Any ideas?

What Kernel are you using? It could be the Kernel, it could be your BIOS settings, it could be your video driver, etc so as you can see, it could be one or a combo of variables

 

I would start troubleshooting by documenting what you currently have and then experiment with different variables until you have the right combo that works for your hardware

Use the netkas kernels in my guide...try the sleep or speedstep kernel, they are the freshest and best for retail install.

Switch kernels...trust me. you dont need to wait.. and you can always switch right back, its really easy.

 

install 9.2.0 Speedstep or Sleep Kernel

 

1) Using Terminal, rename the “mach_kernel” (9.1.0) in root (/) directory to “mach_kernel_old”.

 

sudo -s

cp /mach_kernel /mach_kernel_old

2) Move the “mach_kernel” (9.2.0) from your desktop to root (/) directory.

 

cp ~desktop/mach_kernel /mach_kernel

3) Repair permissions.

 

cd /

chown -R root:wheel mach_kernel

chmod -R 755 mach_kernel

4) Reboot.

Oh I know, I'm quite proficient in UNIX. The reason I'm waiting is because I have 4GB of RAM and I get KPs sometimes when transferring over JMicron due to bad kext support. However, I will try switch kernels now and I'll post back.

That Soyo I was talking about used a PMVA display, that's why it was such a hard choice, plus Office Max was having a sale on it for $300. The most recent reviews I've read on it however said that they have started to quietly change the panels to the common TN. Some people who thought they were getting a great deal, ended up returning them when they saw they were TN. Here are some comparison sites I used.

Other than the post patch for the P5W DH Deluxe, it there anything else that needs to be added tot he installation package? (I don't think, because I plan to fix audio and graphics with EFI strings.)

After replace the SMBIOS, and run the abode cs3 patch, the CS3 seems run smooth,

but after few hours later. It crash again.

After replace the SMBIOS, and run the abode cs3 patch, the CS3 seems run smooth,but after few hours later. It crash again.And I got this crash report yesterday.Any idea?Thanks!

Other than the post patch for the P5W DH Deluxe, it there anything else that needs to be added tot he installation package? (I don't think, because I plan to fix audio and graphics with EFI strings.)And what can I take out of the install package that is not needed for the P5W DH Deluxe?

That Soyo I was talking about used a PMVA display, that's why it was such a hard choice, plus Office Max was having a sale on it for $300. The most recent reviews I've read on it however said that they have started to quietly change the panels to the common TN.
