I have been searching through the forum and have not found a definitive answer to how I shoud I should go about correctig this issue. As the title indicates I am getting the "Still waiting for root devices" error each time I boot the Kalyway DVD. My hardware specs are as follows:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0GHz (e6850)

Motherboard: Intel P35

Video Card: eVGA Geforce 8600GTS 256MB

RAM: 2 GB

Sound: Integrated

Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster 226

I can try to get specific things if you let me know what you need. I found this post but at the top it just says to play with the BIOS settings and reboot (http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=34938). I have tried finding the settings in BIOS as described in the last few posts here http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=85565. I am not sure what else to try. If anyone can give me some advice I would really appreciate it. I would love to get this working!!!

I had the same problem as you with a few of my Installation DVD's. For my though, Kalyway was the DVD tht got passed that stage. From what I understand, "Still waiting for root device" is very generic, and can be caused by a few different things. However, a common problem seems to be hard drives, which you did not list. Perhaps that will help us out? What hard drives do you have?

I had the same problem but I put the DVD in my Writing Drive (DVD-RAM) instead of the reading one (DVD DRIVE)

but now I still can't install cuz i dunno what kinda partition i should creste cuz MAC isn't reading them....
