I'm having this particular problem: I've downloaded Zephyroth and burned it into a DVD, but I just can't boot it. I've also tried mounting the image in Windows and Linux but it doesn't boot either. Not even in vmware or virtualmachine.

I downloaded two other versions of mac os (i dont remember the images name) but the problem is still the same.

I'm running:

Processor: DualCore AMD Athlon 64 X2 +4400, 2312 MHz

Motheboard: ASUS M2N-E SLI (nVIDIA nForce4 SLI, AMD Hammer)

RAM: 2x 1GB 800

Videocard: nVidia GeForce 8600GT

The processor has SSE3 so it's suppossed to be compatible.

The motherboard is set to boot the cd and the BIOS was updated recently.

I also tried tweaking the BIOS config but I'm not sure what I am searching for. Anyway I had no success.

I used Verbatim DVD-R (4.7gb), single layer as the images fit... I don't think that has anything to do with it.

I can boot other os, even burned on the same verbatim's dvds.

I really don't know what the problem is or where to search now. I hope you can help me. Thanks.

there are so many people that need help that it comes down to just spend hours researching...

5 things:

-updated bios can make the installation more impossible

-NVidia chipsets are early imposible to work with

-You graphics card isn't neccesarily supported yet... check out NVinstaller

-AMD processors are special...

are your SATA/IDE controllers working and how is your BIOS set...

this is very complicated stuff.

SOLVED.

The file I burned on the DVD and the one I tried to mount was copied from a different machine using linux into mine, which was currently on windows, using samba protocol. It seems the iso file broke during the process and thats why i couldn't mount it. No matter how many times I copied the file, the copied image was indeed corrupted.

I managed to boot the same image I downloaded (Zephyroth) on a machine with an sse1 processor, so the image is not corrupted.

Sorry about that, it's just that I was using the machine with linux at that moment.

I found out of this problem comparing the iso images on both computers using the cat command on linux.

In order to copy the files into my computer withouth breaking the iso file, I used netcat.

Now the burned DVD boots and I've installed the OS successfully (except the keyboard because its a PS/2 one and you need USB peripherals to make it work).

I am currently facing new problems but I am going to research on that.

Anyway, thanks Redliner for your response!
