From Ars: Originally scheduled for a March announcement, Apple's Logic Pro 7.2 has been released and is currently shipping (via Create Digital Music). If you're not familiar with Apple's flagship audio development software, it's known for it's strength and flexibility in digital audio recording, digital signal processing (DSP), MIDI sequencing, and notation. Logic's 7.2 "crossgrade" is a Universal release and runs on both Intel and PowerPC machines. New features highlighted in the article include big-time compatibility with the new plug-ins from GarageBand 3, such as automatic ducking (the app reduces music volume whenever you speak) and a speech enhancer when your 10-cent mic isn't cutting it. djsaint Posted February 3, 2006 Share Posted February 3, 2006 Mark of the Unicorn (MOTU) released drivers this week and they are not beta either to boot. Also, RME-Audio has had drivers for their Fireface for about 3 months. I think all the major sound card drivers either have drivers or will release drivers shortly for the Intel Macs. Keep in mind they will only release them for Firewire and USB products, since none of the Intel Macs support PCI or PCIe yet. Takuro Posted February 5, 2006 Share Posted February 5, 2006 They said pro apps would come in March. Maybe if we're lucky, Final Cut and Aperture will be released soon or in late February. It seems that Apple's latest approach is to surprise people by releasing way ahead of schedule. Vista will be worth it, whenever it comes out. Personally I think the interface needs a face-lift and they should spend as much time as possible making it look as sleek as possible (but never even touching OS X's sleekness, admittingly...) I would imagine that it uses dongles still since it doesn't require an intel mac. int's a unibin, so must be ppc mac compatible, hence no tpm. I'm sure; the dongle will stay! I work with logic on a G5 dual, and I will buy the universal upgrade. I'm really curious how it will work on my selfmade devkit (same components as the first devkit!!). But 1 you have to know: I've tryed to install Logic 7 on it (10.4.1). The installation went good, but the dongle wasen't sending the right key to logic! So I couldn't start logic.. This was very strange. Since I have 10.4.3 I wasen't able to try again.. But as said before, let's see what's happen with the upgrade and the dongle, or better with 10.4.4 if it would work soon! Let you know then It's quite funny, I just had my copy of Cubase SX 1.06 stop working, hadn't used it since Panther and it would not recognize the USB dongle. I forked out for the upgrade to SX 3 and that came with a new "one time only" installer key that made it start working again with Tiger. Part of the install process dowloads encrypted data of some sort from the Internet with obviously some exchange of data about my system. The USB dongle issue pissed me off so much that I went across the road to my Apple dealer and bought a new copy of Logic Express 7.1 that does not use a dongle, and have shelved my cubase SX that cost 3 times as much. aduan Posted February 24, 2006 Share Posted February 24, 2006 WELL I succeeded running Logic Pro 7.0 on X86 intel PC .I used USB dongle which I run well on my Power MAC G5 , And I have Apple 's A 2/6 audio interface and it works well on x86 . but Logic Pro 7.0 does not run well on X86 intel PC ,it still use Rosseta to run so it really slow . and after I update to Logic Pro 7.2 it shows tht I must install the Pro Applications Surpot 3.1 . but after I install Pro Applications Surpot 3.1 .the Logic Pro 7.2 will not start! I donot know why though it shows that the Logic Pro 7.2 is the "intel and PPC " application /.I think my X86 is still version 10.43 i will try 10.44 or 10.45 I donot know ....
