[idkfa]
*bump* I need a new video card, preferably with no active cooling. I found a 3450 not too expensive, so I need to know if it's supported or not. Anybody tried? naplo
Its already some time ago we spoke about the HD3450 now. Is there any news? I have a HD3450 and I am keen on installing MacOSX on my new PC. But as long as the graphic card is not supported theres not really a point in doing that... bluesun10000
Did support for the 3450 arrive with the 10.5.3 update? I can run the 3650 with a driver search on the web, but the 3450 boots to a blank screen with DVI (VESA mode, clean install)? I have a 3450 here and can test. I'll have to install to get the dev IDs. Drabe
I tried it with an Asus HD X3450 Silent, and I couldnt get it to work. Leo4all v3 didnt work, Nor Kalyway 10.5.1 or 10.5.2. All installed perfectly, connected to the VGA out. Messed with all the kernals, and X2600, X3000 and 1600 drivers but no dice. All crashed at boot, stuck with the Mac light blue screen of nothingness. Tried GUID, MBR formats, made sure didnt Accidentaly have a space on the HD label. I even got it one day to boot to the login screen only to crash out again. How did u do it! Running A P35-DS3L, Radeon HD X3450, 1GB Corsair XMS 667, Linksys WMP54GS, WDC 160GB. I was thinking that u had to wait till 10.5.3 caome out. I am a xpert at PCs and building them but do not know jack about macs. The King Johnny
If you have my specs, try Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD Intel_Amd version. It works good with my system even after upgrading to Kalyway's 10.5.3 update. Specs are described at the bottom... I tried two video cards. Originally the ATI x700 which would not give me 1680x1050 resolution for my monitor even when manually changing it in the com.apple.Boot.plist. If you have a 4:3 monitor (not widescreen), the Ati x700 should work without Quartz Extreme. I now have in a Visiontek Radeon HD3650 and I have alot more choices including 1600x1000 & 1680x1050, but still no QE. Here's how I got the video to work thanks to Kalyway. After the very first installation and it rebooted, I got a gray screen that never loaded anything. If you have problems on reboot with video gfx (blue or black screen)... All you have to do is just press F8 at Darwin's prompt and then type -s (single user mode) and hit enter at root type mount -uw / and hit enter type /movevideodrivers and hit enter then it will be prompt to move video drivers by class ( nvidia ; ati ; or intel gma) voila! type yes to confirm or enter to skip. (I chose yes to all even though I had the Ati card installed. It should still boot to the desktop like it did for me). _________________________________________________________________________ Here are my specs: Gigabyte GA-P35 DS3L Intel Dual Core E8400 RAM = 4GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2 (2x2GB modules) Onboard Lan (I kept getting dropped & had to renew the lease so I changed it to manual and entered in settings found in terminal by typing ifconfig). Now, I never get dropped. It may take a few tries before getting the right numbers in there. Onboard Audio didn't work so I downloaded the Realtek ALC888 kext & installed using a kext installer built into Kalyway.
