talisman
First of all, thanks for all the help you guys are giving here, makes this an extremely useful forum!I seem to have the same problem as Nicholaslee mentioned a few posts above, I can't get an external monitor working on my m1530. When I boot with external vga I get two black screens, if I plug in vga and detect displays I get two black screens. General performance is great, Cinebench rendering 4067 (XPsp3 gives 3741!) and Cinebench openGL 3982 (XPsp3 gives 4352, slightly better). In general everything works smooth, only shutdown problem (don't really mind) and no internet with Marvell and Intel wireless (Truemobile 1505 is on the way). I got vga-out working once using this tutorial ( http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...amp;mode=linear ), but it killed my openGL performance (Cinebench openGL 300) since I got "Core Image" software instead of hardware. Hope somebody can help, since it is the last flaw on a great working system! So you seem to be using the NVinject.kext and not the EFI strings. In that case you need to edit the Info.plist in the NVinject.kext to contain the NVCAP value. You can do so with the plist editor from apple. The NVCAP value is: <04000000 00000100 06000000 00000000 00000000> If you use the terminal and a terminal editor to edit the plist you will need this value: BAAAAAAAAQAGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA= Extended mode works with full acceleration and mirror mode works with only external monitor and not internal monitor Hello!where i can find driver for 8400gs and 10.5.5-10.5.6? thanks! Look for macgirl's NVinjext.kext in this thread or go to wingrunr21's guide for M1330/M1530
Lucyk
I installed original Mac OS X on my Dell laptop (see signature for details). Touchpad doesn't work, but fortunately works keyboard. Would you please make a kext for my laptop? Also i installed iAtkos v1 where touchpad works perfectly.

DigitalDJ
Hi, Have an M1330 and seem to have everything working except Wifi & LAN (stuck with 4965AGN and Broadcom 59xx). I'm using Vanilla/Retail with a Boot132 Loader - mainly followed wingrunr21's guide. I'm using MBR partitioning and not GUID (modded Vanilla DVD), I have a partition with initrd.img with fairly minimal kexts that loads OSX. However I have one problem...and a few questions: I ran my 8400M through Cinebench 10 and it gets VERY poor OpenGL scores (about 500 points). I'm using NVInject 0.2.2 (Macgirl's mod for multiple monitors) and 10.5.6 (fully updated, nothing left in Software Updater). As far as I know, I'm not using EFI (I'm using MBR partition with that Boot132 Loader) so, is there anyway to get good performance out of my 8400M? As for my questions: What's the difference between EFI Strings and NVInject? Will EFI strings give better performance? I'm not using EFI_V9...I don't think....I'm not using Charmeleon...I don't think? I'm not using DSDT? I installed Vanilla 10.5.0 using Retail DVD and I simply used a non-modified 10.5.6 Combo Update. Am I missing something? Do I need to add anything else, other than my Boot 132 loader? What's the difference between EFI_V9/Charmelon/DSDT? I had a fairly hard time understanding these.... If anyone can help out, thank you! Grant

Sleep Display as in...turn off the LCD? I made an Expose corner for Sleep Display and ran the benchmark. Still only ~500 points, and even if it did speed it up, the screen would be black? I did notice however (regardless of Sleep Display), half way through the benchmark the FPS suddenly increases for about 2-3 seconds, then goes back down :/

itdoesnotwork
Just updated to 10.5.6 successfully on my 1530. No Boot problems or kernel panics. Unfortunately Audio stopped working. I previousely activated it with the "allport" HDA kext, the hdaenabler and by deleting appleazalia.kext Any suggestions how to get it to work again? I would appreciate it much! please! BTW: doesn anyone know why NVinject and patched AppleHDA stop working if you put them into /Extra/Extensions? Thanks!
dasepsilon
Make sure you don't have a BIOS password turned on. That broke sleep on my machine. Here is my kextstat: Thanks a lot for the kextstat! Looks like i have old versions of USB-drivers and SMBIOS. Both might be critical is suppose, will try to update and fix... wingrunr21
I visited the Dell Support site, there is a new BIOS (A15) for the M1330. The only fix it lists is "Enhance Fn+F8 function" so I'm assuming this update only really matters to Windows people.

DigitalDJ
Hi macgirl, What are you using for your 8400M GS in your M1330 for 10.5.6? Do you get good performance in Cinebench? Or any other 3D Accelerated benchmark... Cheers
macgirl
Yes the same performas as windows has. No cinebench used, just Open GL Extensions viewer tests.
DigitalDJ
Yes the same performas as windows has. No cinebench used, just Open GL Extensions viewer tests. Is that with the NVinject you posted for multiple monitors? (http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry897593) And in your screenshot it says VRAM 256MB. Do you actually have a 256MB 8400 GS? Or is just 128MB? Edit: Macgirl, you should try Cinebench. I get the same scores as you in OpenGL Extensions but Cinebench is horrid. I wonder what's the cause? Use the program called Kext Helper.

Kext Helper is a tool for kext installation on a working system? I need a working keyboard&touchpad kexts just to copy them on my bootable flash drive. MiniBUU
Dell Inspiron 1525 - Updated to 10.5.6 - Started with ideneb 10.5.5 installed w/ ich~ motherboard driver, applesmbios(mbp), few apps (most important is osx86tools). - Ran DSDT Patcher - placed file in root - Ran UInstaller - Osx86_essentials, apply kext package, install pc_efi and then hit install. - NOW THIS IS SUPER IMPORTANT - Your keyboard/touchpad will not work when you reboot. Nor will sleep work. - I hope you have a usb mouse/bluetooth mouse. (Setup a corner for sleep display). Also if you have a password get rid of it. You can add it later. - Install Mac OS X update the same way you installed 10.5.5 (or see netkas 10.5.5 update method) - Remember when you reboot you wont have keyboard/trackpad - Anyway, I did some searching around and found this package of drivers. http://www.espressoreport.com/191/hackbook...-mac-os-x-1056/ You will find it posted by Wolfer with drivers and all. For some reason the drivers you need will be different for everyone. I didnt need to fix my time machine and i didnt need to fix my wifi. Hopes this helps for the Dell Inspiron 1525 (or close) folks. Nicholaslee
The modded acpi may be the source of all your woes. Most of Suphai's things work for non modded acpi. And I mean ACPI not AHCI. What do you mean by VGA not working? All that works is extended mode (multiple monitors) and in the mirror mode only the external monitor works and the internal blacks out. If you are not getting even these then it is a problem As far as I remember you are using 10.5.6. But your kernel version in 9.5.0 when it should be 9.6.0. I would suggest applying the 10.5.6 update again and getting the kernel version right as that can create problems. I had quite a few problems precisely because of a wrong kernel version. That should take care of the modded ACPI too. You also don't seem to have Speedstep(If I remember correctly you said it did not work for you). Correct me if I am wrong. Have you done a "pmset -a hibernatemode 0" ?? You will find it a few pages back on a wingrunr21's reply to donyeb's question Talisman, Thanks again. I Reinstalled the 10.5.6 update and I still had the same problems. So i just reformatted and reinstalled iaktos 5i using ideneb's guide and used the vanilla acpi. I still can't get any speedstep to work, I get a kernel panic on boot everytime. I tried voodoopower, genericcpupowermanagement, and intelenhancedspeedstep, before and after I updated to 10.5.6. I used your nvinject and have vga and hdmi out working now. So my only problem is speedstep and low benchmark after sleep. Thanks! My System: Dell M1530 - 10.5.6 - 9.6.0 kernel - Intel Core 2 duo (T9300)

Do you have speedstep and dynamic acceleration enabled in the bios. What bios version do you have?? Do you get speed step in windows or in Linux (if you have it installed)?? I do have Speedstep and dynamic acceleration enabled in bios. I have Bios A12 (Updated from A08 before I reinstalled iaktos 5i). I currently only have leopard installed. I just realized that I am still getting kernel panics after sleep. I disabled dynamic acceleration and restarted - ran xbench and got cpu benchmark score of 167 - After sleep I ran xbench again and get cpu score of 80 , as soon as it runs the test I get a kernel panic. I disabled dynamic acceleration and speedstep and restart - about this mac only recognizes 1.2 Ghz - Benchmark cpu score is
Nicholaslee
Talisman, i figured out the problem! It's my processor that's defective! Someone sold me a defective processor about a month ago and it has been doing this ever since, I don't know why I didn't realize this earlier. Just figured leopard didn't like my new processor. I tried installing vista and kept getting a blue screen error, and vista installed fine when I had my old processor.

I believe it also reintroduces 8GB RAM support, which was taken out in the previous version for some reason.
