Since i have a perfectly working Hackintosh on my desktop i tought i would retry my m1530.

Is it possible to have working shutdown/restart with this machine? just hitting the powerbutton is a killer for your hard drive.

If the sound driver is the problem, then i don't care about sound, i have logitech v10 USB speakers with built in sound card.

Sorry, dumb question. Apparently it's the videocard driver that {censored}s up the shutdown. Hopefully this will be fixed in the future.

So everybody is shutting down and then holding the powerbutton? my HDD makes an ugly noise, this can't be good on a long term basis.

Good job everyone on this topic!

The noise you are hearing is the hard drive head parking itself in its off position. It should not damage the hard disk.

I have a Dell XPS 1330 with the STAC 92XX C Major HD Audio card. I have installed the 9228's from the Dell Post package and I have the sound card coming up but I still get no sound. I have checked the Audio MIDI Setup and it finds everything but still nothing. I have everything else working 100% and this is driving me crazy. Any help would be great.

Thanks

I don't know if you guys were talking to me, but I tried the lid sleep anyway. I didn't fix the problem. I've noticed that when I watch dvd quality movies, i only get audio lag. But when I do 1080p playback, I get audio and video lag. I hope someone can help. Thanks!

Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is the right place to these questions, so tell if there's a better place to ask these!

OK... I'm going to buy the Dell XPS M1330 with this configuration:

Intel C2D 2.5GHz 6MB L2 (T9300)

4GB DDR2

500GB SATA

Nvidia Geforce 8400M GS 128MB

Since my plan is to install only and only Leopard, I want to make sure that everything that I need will work on this machine...

1. Is there any solution for Shutdown/Restart/Sleep?? as far as I read, Shut Down & Restart doesn't work and you have to do it manually, but sleep will work with modded kext, right? what about the lid? does it work right?

2. Ethernet?? apparently it doesn't work at all... right? any fully working gigabit USB to Ethernet Adaptor?

3. The most important question! Can i make everything works with Retail Leopard installation method?? I really like to have vanilla kernel and be able to do Apple Software updates directly without patching... Can you please gimme a link of guide or something?? I've heard there's a way to install it even without Boot 132 CD, but I couldn't find it...

4. Do I have any better option in this range of weight and performance which is more compatible with Leopard??

Since I'm going to replace the Wi-Fi card with Dell 1505, so dont worry about it! :)

Thanx! waiting for your answers! =)

I tried the Lid Sleep but once I do that I can't get it to wake. I have my Hot Corners setup but they do not work for waking.

Welcome to the club.

Shutdown and restart do not work. There is no solution. Sleep works for most people as does lid sleep. You need to use Superhai's EHCISleepEnabler. If you download Sonotone's Dell Post Installer (there is a link on page 1 of this thread) the lid sleep fix is included in it.

Work in progress. Why gigabit? USB can't handle gigabit speeds anyway. The Apple Macbook Air USB to Ethernet adaptor works fine.

Guide is in my signature.

This is one of the best hackintosh laptops from what I've read.

Here's the weird thing my Shut down and restart work fine! It's my sound that driving me crazy. I wouldn't mind getting my HDMI going as well.

You don't have the nvidia drivers working properly yet. Are you getting the correct video resolution? Shutdown and restart work fine until the nvidia kexts are configured. macgirl posted an nvinject some pages ago that will get the HDMI working.

Does it matter that I'm running a Intel GX3100? Thats the only reason I havn't thought about the Nvidia kext. I have full resolution.

Oh. People with nvidia cards have shutdown/restart issues.

Ahh ok, I'm still getting a bit confused with everything going on. I just wish I could figure the sound issues out. I have the sound icon and it shows up in sound options, but I don't get any output.

UPDATE:

After looking into my settings more I see that in the Audio MIDI Setup that I cannot change the Master Channel Volume settings. I am thinking that this could be a huge issue.

^ Desiderio's AppleHDA.kext + ALCInject.kext =

4772.png(Sigmatel 9228 on XPS M1330)

"Internal Speakers" = Speakers + Sound through first headphone jack simultaneously

"Headphones" = Sound through second headphone jack only

"Internal Microphone" = Microphone jack only

Sound works without having to use the reboot/sleep method. (You must not have HDAEnabler.kext or any Apple Azalia audio kexts installed for this to work.)

You sir are a King! Thank you so much, this worked 1st time, I deleted the HDAEnabler.kext and the Apple Azalia kext added the AppleHDA.kext + ALCInject.kext and after a reboot everything was working!

It turns out that VLC player was causing the laggy sound. So now I'm using Divx Player instead and .avi files no longer lag. I downloaded Perian for Quicktime to support more codecs but it still doesn't support WMV. Thanks for everyones help, I think I am set now!

You need Flip4Mac for wmv in QT.

Oops... After reboot sound doesn't work again on my Vostro 1400(((

If I use AppleHDA from MacGirl's tread (http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=83039) - it never works after second reboot. But if I use AppleHDA from Lofn's post in this tread (#2044 - http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=867826) - sound sometimes works and sometimes not. If it doesn't work - I need reboot - and all ok.

I can't use "sleep" solution - I have GeForce 8400m gs.

Some data at ConfigData at AppleHDA.kext/Contents/Plugins/AppleHDAController.kext/Contents/Info.plist is cause of this problem.

Is there any solution for this problem?

Read back a few pages. There is a fix that seems to work for some but not for others. Your 8400m GS shouldn't be giving you sleep problems. There are many XPS 1330 users with that card that can sleep fine. It actually seems like I'm the only one who cannot get sleep working properly.
