Chrysaor
How did you get automatic switch on Internal Speakers/Headphones ? Didn't do anything special, it just works with that kext. Also, sound works after every reboot. However, after computer sleeps, automatic switching doesn't work anymore, but you can still use the second jack to get output from headphones. Some people had reported success getting their internal mic to work. (for Sigmatel 9205) http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=130822 I am trying to get it working for 9228, but haven't had luck so far. talisman
I have tested the reboot fix for AppleHDA.kext only on the M1530. As I mentioned earlier, internal speakers work. They cut off automatically when headphones are jacked in and turn on when headphones are detached. Note: This fix stops the internal speakers from working on the a vostro 1400 that the member of the original post suggesting this has. I guess a M1330 would be closer to a Vostro 1400. I wouldn't know how the sound behaves after a sleep as I don't sleep my computer. feckmunkeh: all I can suggest is that try iatkos v4.0i and make sure you choose the AppleACPI from the stock options (If I remember correctly). Haven't really had the problem that you had. Sorry about that....
vect0r
After about 3000 kernel panics, I've managed to get my Broadcom 59xx to pull an IP address from DHCP.. Problem is, it's drops the IP after 25 seconds or so, and during this 25 seconds I can not get any network activity through it... So development continues, I guess. vect0r
Yeah, I'm developing on top of the 440x using a driver pulled from (i think it was Ubuntu), basically looking at the differences on a hardware level.. I've managed to trick OSX into thinking it's 440x, but I fear the hardware differences are going to be too extreme for it to be stable..
wingrunr21
I see. I have been busy porting the BSD version of the BGE driver to OS X. I've hit some snags, however. The code is very messy and I have yet to fully figure it out.
thefinalprophecy
Does anyone have an ISO for a bootable disc that will allow installation from a retail dvd? Neither of the ones I have tried seem to work on my XPS 1330.

thefinalprophecy
Thanks, that seems to work perfectly. First one I found that actually did boot into the installer. So what is left to be developed for this laptop? I've been away from the scene for a while. Does restart/shutdown work yet? Audio consistent? Audio is not consistent yet although there is a fix that was recently developed that works for those on the 1530s but as of yet doesn't work for anyone else. That was explained a page or two back as well.
talisman
oniq You can change back to AHCI from ATA after a couple pf reboots. Things work automagically. Happens everytime I fresh install os x
joengos
Hi Joe, To add the default Gateway, just type : #sudo route add -net 0.0.0.0 your_gateway_ip To add the dns, edit the /etc/resolv.conf with "vi" as root by doing : #sudo vi /etc/resolv.conf and add the 2 next lines : nameserver your_secondary_dns_ip nameserver your_primary_dns_ip Finished. (Replace italic/underline words with the good ip address...) I must say that you could use an old IONetworkingFamily kext to solve the Gui issue but that is my opinion. Also, after executing those lines, you will probably need to reboot your system as Dns server are refreshed sometimes... Good luck. Overshoot, Thanks for the suggestions. Tried all that, even using the old IONetworkingFamily.kext found in the thread - but to no avail. Everytime I reboot the system, the resolv.conf file is blank/empty again. I read somewhere that Leopard doesnot use that file anymore or something like that. May be I need to reinstall again. Joe.
macgirl
Did that work for you? I didn't get any sound out of my internal speakers. Just installed PC EFI v8 over Chameleon. Still getting sleep issues. netkas has not responded to me yet. Yes internal Speaker always worked for me since Taruga made the 9228 AppleHDA On my laptopt I have parallel Sound Output on Internal Speakers and first headphones jack, but after sleep I just have on Internal Speakers, first headphone is lost (really dont care much, but I like becaus I can have 4 speakers Internal+External). Didn't do anything special, it just works with that kext. Also, sound works after every reboot. El_Rocko
Those work really great.Internal speakers, Headphones (from first jack, switches automatically w/o need to switch sound output), Line Out (from second jack), Mic (external mic works, internal doesn't work). Here is the modified version with fixed mute and mic boost. Sigmatel9228.zip Hi Chrysaor!! Thanks for your help!! I have now my audio working properly. Now, I have a question: How is that you made your VGA output work? What is your NVCAP value? I have, as you, the m1530, so, I was wondering of you could help me with that. I have Quartz Extreme Working, ( I have not tried with this Kext the HDMI output). If you have an installe or a walkthrough it would be really a lot of help. Well, thanks in advance for you assistance!! C ya! Rocko PS: The 8 in 1 Card Redaer is not working (shutdown/restart issue is well known also, as well as the ethernet) Other than that, I have everything else working (but the VGA Out)
bryce00741
I've used various installer programs listed on this forum, and it worked pretty well at first. But then I installed something to fix the audio, and now lid sleep won't work, and manual sleep doesn't work properly either. Is there anyway to reset all the extensions to the original settings without losing my applications or data? I would like to reset the extensions and start over. I have a Dell M1330 by the way. Thanks.

wingrunr21
Yes internal Speaker always worked for me since Taruga made the 9228 AppleHDA That is not what I asked. I asked if this new reboot fix worked for you. I've had the internal speakers working for some time as well. I'd just like to have the same feature switching that the 1530 users have reported. leo84
Hello!! Ive used the Leo4All v3 image. Works great. Nvinstaller v.52 for video, great too. Used DellPackage_0.34g after installing, for the battery icon ando for the Sigmatel STAC 9228 Driver The sound (Inspiron 1420, you know, it has 2 outputs, and 1 input), works only in the first jack output, and only with earphones. The internal speakers don't work, and the mic input isn't recognized. Also (always, not after installing that package), when turning off or rebooting, screens goes black, so i have to turn it off manually, pressing the button for a while, then turn it on again. Any ideas, please?

Now it works Now, I have some comments related to the performance of the m1530 after installing Leopard from the retail DVD (10.5.4) and updating to 10.5.5. (I also updated EVERYTHING ELSE that was offered in the Software Update app (like the Security Updates) I have noticed that it used to have a way better performance when I had installed the Kalyway ver. 10.5.2 (Everything that was supposed to work was working). Now, the Xbench is giving 95.5 or so when it used to gave me up to 130 (or more). Is this the same for you? If that is the case, how is that you managed to get a good performance? This are my specs: Dell XPS m1530 - Mac OS X 10.5.5 w/ Darwin 9.5.0 (vanilla) and Chameleon v1.0.11 and Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bits; Sleep and SpeedStep works 15.4" LG-Philips UltraSharp WSXGA+ (1680x1050) Intel Core 2 Extreme X9000 (2.8 GHZ) - I bought it on eBay for $399 dollars from a chinese guy 4GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM @ 667MHz 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT Works w/ NVinject QE/CI/OGL/Rotation/VGA and HDMI out supported 160GB Seagate Momentus 7200.2 SATA HDD Sigmatel STAC9228 Audio Internal speakers/headphones/external mic works Dell 1490 WLAN Works Dell Truemobile 355 Bluetooth Works Alps Touchpad [Two finger scrolling works w/ FFScroll| 2MP Integrated webcam Works Fingerprint Reader Works Blu-Ray Writer Working 8-in-1 media card slot is not working Marvell Yukon 10/100 Ethernet is not working I hope you can help me with this. What does Native mean? Thanks for the help everyone. There were times when Mac OS X x86 can run on VMware only, so native means no VMware layer present, since I updated just the version of Mac OS I am running I left some things as they were since 10.4.1, I preserve my 10.4.3 VMware installation because is the fastest of all x86 versions, and fast on vmware means everything, I use it when something went bad so I can acess the Physical disk with it, better than MacDrive or other HFS tools. In other matter of things Does anybody tried the new MacBooks' Nvidia kexts?

I tried the new drivers. They worked fine, there wasn't any difference in performance but OpenGL performance was a bit slower, but I didn't had the new OpenGL.framework so that might be due to that. Btw, I found an old 10.5.2 xbench of mine and there is a lot of increase in performance since 5.2 to 5.5.
