loudog3114
^ Desiderio's AppleHDA.kext + ALCInject.kext = (Sigmatel 9228 on XPS M1330) "Internal Speakers" = Speakers + Sound through first headphone jack simultaneously "Headphones" = Sound through second headphone jack only "Internal Microphone" = Microphone jack only Sound works without having to use the reboot/sleep method. (You must not have HDAEnabler.kext or any Apple Azalia audio kexts installed for this to work.) pretty weird, this worked fine for me until I installed the macbook pro smbios from the dell package. Now i have to use sleep method again... duno why I didnt install any audio drivers and I dont have hdaenabler or azalia kexts.
larrybird
Just posted in the 1330 dedicated tutorial, if you could go over there and have a look! I'm not going to post it, far too long. Where is this thread? I've not come across it. Cheers.

wingrunr21
So I have a bit of bad news. I am still having sleep issues and it is cutting into my productivity. Sleep is a feature that I really need on this laptop. If I cannot get it working soon I am going to be forced to remove OS X and put Vista back on it (I greatly dislike dual-booting). I have searched for weeks for a solution and have been unable to find one. Quick recap of my problem: The laptop will sleep correctly and only resume correctly perhaps 1 in 20 times. I have been unable to ascertain what is precisely the problem based upon the logs. This problem is exhibited in both Safe Boot mode and Normal boot mode. If someone with working sleep on their XPS 1330 with a retail install could please give me the following information I'd appreciate it: kextstat OS X version Kernel version pmset -g | grep hibernatemode Edit: Sleep also fails in the exact same way on the new voodoo kernel. It is a retail install. No issues at all with wakeup. What do you mean by not waking up correctly? Last time I turned off the laptop was when i updated to 10.5.5. haccord
So, i sucessfully installed iAtkos v4 on my XPS 1530 and then updated to 10.5.5 (took a lot of time to get it all right, had like some 5 kernel panics) my problem is that i cant get proper resolution, i only get 1024*768, tried all kinds of drivers, and i still cant change the resolution. Is there a fix for 10.5.5 Nvidia 8600M GT 256MB kexts? tried using efi strings but no succes. Also the fan gets pretty lousy like if i was playing crysis in vista, is there a way to regulate the speed or something? i think i deleted some thermal kexts because of a kernel panic and this must be the problem but i cant remember what exactly i deleted. any help? thx. EDIT: Fixed by using the "Apple Leopard Graphics Update" from apple. Now i got a XPS 1530 with Leopard 10.5.5 (100% working with sound, batter meter, sleep, wifi and no gfx issues), i would like to thank all this community for the excellent guides you have. But what stills worries me is the laptop fan sometimes I fell like its pushing itself to the limit even when it's idle. P.S: Sorry for my bad english hehe Hey Nitro, What was your problem during the update ?.. because I also tried like 5 times to make the update but without any success... I had a kernel panic each time.. Using a fresh iatkos install. Which options you had selected during iatkos installation ? Then should you be able to tell us where you found your Apple Leo Graphics update? Are you running under dual boot using GPT Table? Wingrun, I hope that you find a solution for your laptop.. we don't want to lose you from the osXscene... We greatly appreciate your help ! Did you tried EHCI usb fix? Its the only way that I can get my laptop go to sleep.. but my webcam doesn't work anymore then my trackpad tapping doesn't work after a sleep. wingrunr21
When I attempt to resume the laptop I am met with only a black screen. The machine is not pingable when in this black screen. That is what I mean by not correctly waking.
macgirl
is not pingable and USB ports don't work? (no electrical current from them?)
wingrunr21
Have not tested for USB current. I will have to do that later when I have a multimeter. Is no current a known issue?
macgirl
No, if there is a current on the USB ports you have partially wake, they should have current if the laptop is in sleep mode, once is wake they should have current, an easy way to test if they have current is with an USB device. wingrunr21
Ok, I will test this in a hour or so. What do I do if I have partial wake?
macgirl
If you have partial wake check the system logs for clues.
wingrunr21
If you have partial wake check the system logs for clues. I have been checking the system logs. That's the first place I went. There is nothing in the logs that appears to cause the system to not wake. There is also nothing in the logs that appears to differ between a successful wake and an unsuccessful wake. Edit: Here is an example of an unsuccessful wake in the system logs Oct 6 13:25:09 XPS-1330 kernel[0]: vmnet: VMNetDisconnect called for port 0x6673e00 Oct 6 13:25:09 XPS-1330 kernel[0]: vmnet: bridge-en0: filter detached Oct 6 13:25:09 XPS-1330 kernel[0]: vmnet: bridge-en0: down Oct 6 13:25:09 XPS-1330 kernel[0]: vmnet: bridge-en0: detached Oct 6 13:25:09 XPS-1330 kernel[0]: vmnet: Freeing hub at 0x74dd800. wingrunr21
Ok, I confirmed that the USB ports are indeed powering up. This means, as macgirl said, I am getting a partial wake. Now, WHY am I getting a partial wake.

luaduck
Moving my issues over here, seeing as I can't read thread titals. Just a quickie, I'm using iAkatosV4i on a XPS M1530, with a external USB harddrive, and I'm having some problems. Biggest : EFI. I can start up OSX86TOOLS, and install Chameleon, but when I restart it's just hanging on a flashing "_" even before it hits EFI or Darwin! There's no errors coming up in the log - I'm using OSX86Tools V1Final, and the partition table is def. GPT. I have to use the Dell BootCD to get in every time! Smaller : WiFi. When I install it, no AirPort appears, and when I use the configuration app, it kernel panics when I try to join a network. Medic! ------------POST CROSSING------------ 2 additional notes: 1. Partitions are def. marked as Case Sensitive, Journeled. It's also coming up in the logs that the partition is "in use", and that changes would require a restart. Seems to make sence, but meh. 2. WiFi is the pain-in-the-butt Intel Chipset in-built one. I'm using the development drivers mentioned in the OP. Also, if this makes a difference, I'm using a EXTERNAL drive. I can't really use a internal. ------------POST CROSSING------------ Really need some help getting mine working, seeing as everyone has danced around it. Sorry! EDIT: Found out that CHAM_EFI is not causing the problems, it's FDisk. If I run FDisk on it's own without even touching EFI, then restart, I'm left with a sonotone-cd-only machine. EDIT 2: Installing PC_EFI (last resort, test thing) gives me a "DD unable to be completed" error - namely,"dd: /dev/disk1: Resource busy" It's a M1530, by the way. Tex1ntux
I'm installing 10.5.4 on my Inspiron 1520, but I can't remember how I got it to 1440x900 before. I tried the graphics links in the first post, but they're all dead. I tried using sonotone's package, but I always got SMBios and ApplePS2keyboard errors afterwards (and my keyboard would stop working). I'm re-fresh installing again (using iAtkos 1.4i). wingrunr21
Luaduck, EFI 1.0.11 does not support case-sensitive, journeled file systems. You are either going to have to reformat it as simply journeled or get the updated boot1h and install chameleon manually. http://chameleon dot osx86 dot hu/articles/chameleon-1011-with-jmicron-ide-dvd-sse2-amd-k10-phenom-support#c000307 As for #2, Intel wireless doesn't work properly. luaduck
Reformatting as Journeled only, I'll keep you updated. I'm sure I tried this, but we shall see.
Tex1ntux
I did the 10.5.5 combo update using the pre/post install patches, and now I can't boot anymore. I booted in verbose mode, and the system locks up right after it tries to load up SpeedStep (I used the 9.5 kernel from the post install patch). How can I go in and fix this? Thanks. P.S. I got graphics working before I updated, so disregard my previous post.
wingrunr21
Boot into single user mode using the -s flag and remove the SpeedStep kext. Then, when you reboot, use the -f flag to clear the extension cache.
wingrunr21
I have just done a fresh install of OS X. I just updated to 10.5.5 and installed Superhai's EHCISleepEnabler. I can't sleep. I know this is not a hardware issue since between fresh installs I installed Vista to test sleep. Vista sleeps/hibernates successfully. This must be an OS X issue. Is anyone going to post the information I asked for?
o0radryan0o
What do the different color highlighted kexts mean? im on my desktop trying to get my video driver working and all of the ATI inject files are shaded blue? also have a kext thats shaded green...
