rokhoe
Guys, i´ve got a little problem here. Everything is working fine on my vostro 1500 after upgrading to 10.5.5 with combo update from iAtkos v2.0i (10.5.2), except that it has lost its plug´n play capabilities when i plug in any usb device. i´ve checked all of my ports and none of them have worked. but curiously, when i open system profiler, i see those devices under hardware -> usb. so it seems that it must be some kind of driver issue?! i´ve checked around in these forums, and for what i hear it might be a kernel issue. i´m using right now 9.4 kernel and nvinject 0.2.1 (which works quite well, about 1200 fps with opengl 1.1-1.3) from sonotone´s package. battery meter is running fine, but sleep doesn´t seem to work. after upgrading to 10.5.5 i checked my kernel and it was still surprisingly 9.2.0 and not 9.5.0 like what i expected, so i installed 9.4 as it was the newest one i could fine. thanks in advance, and macgirl, thank you for this extraordinary compilation

wingrunr21
Those who have sleeping issues, try this: sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0 Tried that doesn't work either. My machine goes to sleep but does not wake from sleep.
Nicholaslee
I have sleep working on an M1530 with 10.5.5. How I did it: First of all, I installd IAKTOS V4 (10.5.4) and selected the 9.2.0 Kernel TOH Kernel. I then installed 10.5.5 Combo update (Using Netkas guide), Next, I installed a USB FIX Package (Download Here) , then I installed the Sleep Fix in the Dell Package 0.3.3 (Download Here) and repaired permissions. To Download packages above - Navigate to this page in Safari and Right click on the download links above and click Save linked file as.. I couldn't figure out how in Mozilla Firefox. Sleep and USB Now work fine. Hope this helps someone! I cannot get my mute to work after installing 10.5.5 though, does anyone know how? Also, Bluetooth doesnt work properly. dmk
I'm seeing sleep weirdness on 10.5.5 M1530 after using Superhai's kexts, too. Picking sleep from the menu seems to work well. Sucker totally shuts down and clicking the power button wakes up in a snap. Also, nothing much seems changed. Sound worked both before/after sleep. I haven't tried letting the machine sleep itself yet. Haven't messed with any speedstep yet either. I am going 100% vanilla or as close as possible. Even keeping kexts in Extra/Extensions with Chameleon boot so I can keep my special kexts out of the regular Extensions folder. Seems easier to keep track of the customizations I've done, too. Anyone know what OSX does if you have the kext in both places? Which does it use? However the Clamshelldisplay doesn't seem as happy, closing the lid doesn't seem to do a true sleep at all, plus the mouse acts wonky for a few seconds. A nice side effect is that the trackpad tap seems to work where before a sleep doesn't. Before the sleep I had to use the hard mouse buttons to click, now I can use the trackpad. Is there a trackpad driver package that works well for M1530/M1330? Maybe that's all I need to install. I haven't seen one though. I am not going to try QE/CI until the bugs get worked out I guess. I don't see anything working well here for anyone. And when I use OSX86Tool to enable OpenGL acceleration my entire system gets hosed and won't boot with no really telling error messages. I had to reinstall twice to learn that one. 10.5.5 definitely not as vanilla-friendly with our machines as 10.5.4 I guess.
macgirl
I'm completely vanilla, well my M1330 is. Sleeps depends directly with abilty of QE (at least) and CI, without them you can not have Sleep because the display cannnot sleep, and without proper display sleep there is no system sleep, although my last expereience was slightly different, I could have sleep and display sleep without QE/CI but I guess that had to do with some kexts were version mixed. wingrunr21
I too am completely vanilla. With the exception of my system not waking from sleep everything that should work does work as it should. By the way my system will do a display sleep and does the first part of a system sleep but does not wake. It does not re-establish a network connection. It is like it is getting stuck in limbo right before the OS completely wakes up.

El_Rocko
I am using all up-to-date 10.5.5 NV kexts and OGL.framework. QE/CI works fine, performance is better than before, HDMI/VGA works etc. Don't mix and match kexts from different versions, it decreases performance. Hi Chrysaor and everyone else! I also have a xps m1530. I would like to know if you installed Leopard using boot 132 method. If you did, what Leopard Retail DVD did you used. Also, I was wondering about the Boot Cd: did you used the Sonotones Boot CD or wich one? I am having a lot of issues 'cause the last time I had my Leopard 10.5.2 working just fine, I tried to update it to 10.5.5 using Software Update from Leopard and it got my installation corrupted. So, I am looking forward to use the boot 132 method and I remeber an earlier post from you saying that you managed to install Leopard using boot 132 mehtod. Thanks for you help. PS> I tried to install using the sonotone's boot cd and the installes Shows "Still waiting for root device" and when it passes from there, when I get the Leopard Intall screen with the Leopard Wallpaper, it freezes. 7oby
XPS M1330 with intel X3100 graphics: I just upgraded 10.5.4 -> 10.5.5 using the 316MB MacOSXUpd10.5.5.dmg (not Combo Update): http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/appl...1055update.html . it installs fine as expected if you use the usual script to delete AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext found on the first page of this posting . beginning with 10.5.4 I don't see "Dont Steal Mac OS X.kext" anymore in /System/InstallAtStartup/scripts/1. Less work to do. . CI/QE works fine on X3100 with default Apple kext . restart : works . shutdwon : works . sleep : works Sound is currently broken. Haven't investigated this (again). I thought I was pretty vanilla by now because I replaced every iAtkos bits I could find with vanilla kexts (and even some icons are changed by iATkos). Anway it turned out I wasn't since I ran into this problem: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=792546 My first attempt to roll in 10.5.5 resulted in kernel not booting. I'm documenting this such that others will google it in case somebody faces the same problem: kld(): Undefined symbols: __ZN21IOSerialATARequestFIS10SetFISPortEh kld_load_from_memory() failed for module com.apple.iokit.IOAHCIBlockStorage Failed to load extension com.apple.iokit.IOAHCIBlockStorage If the solution in the link above doesn't help you, then download updated_kext_for_10.5.5.zip in this thread: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=76404 Maybe this direct download link works as well if you're logged in. Just update IOAHCIFamily.kext and AppleAHCIPort.kext prior to updating to 10.5.5 and you should be fine.

Do you have TM working on your laptop? Thanks for the assistance. Nevermind! I followed the instructions and now Time Machine is working! El_Rocko
ACPIBattery.kextClamshellDisplay.kext EHCISleepEnabler.kext download from here: http://www.superhai.com/darwin.html ACPIPS2Nub.kext and NullCPUPowerManagement.kext from http://tgwbd.org/darwin/extensions.html you can also use AppleACPIPS2Nub from http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=114578 AppleSMBIOSEFI.kext from http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=108606 you can also use SMBIOSResolver from Superhai's ApplePS2Controller.kext and dsmos.kext from search the forum, or surely any installation DVD has it or even other already created initrd images. Hi MacGirl!!! Thanks for this thread, it has been a lot of help! Now, I have a question about the NullCPUPowerManagement.kext, in the link you posted, when I dowload the file, it is a folder, not a Kext. So, I wish I would not be making a dumb question, how do I create a Kext out of the NullCPUPowerManagement folder? Thanks for everything to all!! dmk
How did you folks get QE/CI in 10.5.5? Did you use the LeopardGraphicsUpdate thu Pacifist? I don't wanna mess anything up by installing it. When I tried turning on OpenGL acceleration using OSX86Tool I got a system lockup just before the desktop was about to initialize when I rebooted, so I'm afraid to try that again (I couldn't get back in no matter what I tried). I'm using Macgirl's 8400 GS EFI string and it's working great btw (just no QE/CI after 10.5.5).

Eheh! You were right. I was trying to set rights using chown and chmod but apparently it was not enough. I erased kext caches and start a "diskutil repairpermissions /" and "et voilà"! Now sleep works, thanks to you and all of you who helped me. I added the following lines in /etc/rc.local #!/bin/sh pmset -a hibernatemode 0 in order to load this command at startup automaticly. Also, just another thing to check. Make sure your USB High-Speed is working as well (check About This Mac->More Info->USB). When I used Sonotone's installer before and the various options for my m1330, my IOUSBFamily.kext would be copied over and revert back to a older IOUSBFamily.kext USB that didn't detect High-Speed) so my USB connectivity was slow (12MBps!). Get an updated IOUSBFamily.kext using Pacifist and extracting from the 10.5.5 combo update). After some additional troubleshooting and reinstalling kexts, I finally got everything working (high-speed USB, sound, sleep, and time machine!)...now if wingrunr21 can create a kext for our internal NIC's....fiteon! The Usb speed is ok as i've installed the sleep kext directly from Superhai web site. Another point that can be interesting is the hibernation mode 1 It could be great to have the system goes to hibernation when the battery meter lower a very small percent. It was like this on my MacBook and i need to put my AC adaptor to wake it up from sleep. I know using a Hackintosh can't give me safe sleep but putting the system to sleep when battery is low could be great. I tried "pmset -a hibernate 1" but it failed cause my system shutdown itself when battery meter show 5% remaining so i think that the pmset wasn't activated thinking there was still enough power... Am i alone in that case? Thanks.
dagrimripper
PLEASE GOD HELP! i am using dell inspiron 1720, with 2 hard drives. Hard drive one (seen by vista as disk0) is partitioned in 3: vista (ntfs), leopard (hfs+), data (ntfs) Hard drive 2 (seen by vista as disk1) has only one partition (ntfs) i installed iAtkos2.0i on the created partition, using this guide: http://inihilist.wordpress.com/2008/04/05/...and-fool-proof/ the thing worked and i had the OSX but in order to get vista back i had to follow these instructions after booting in safe mode [-s] fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 flag 1 quit reboot i blindly followed the instructions and it appears that rdisk0 was actually Hard drive 2 i repeated the steps for rdisk1 and then i could safely repair and boot vista, and finish the bootloader setup in order to have both OS's, but when i tried to get back to Hard drive 2, i was amazed that ALL MY DATA WAS GONE!!! although vista reported the same amount of disk space as before, the only files i see in that partition now are .DS_Store , ._.Trashes , ._.TemporaryItems , .TemporaryItems , .Trashes and, strange enough, one of the old folders of data that i had, which is still accessible please tell me what to do, all my data was on that drive and it seems as if it's still there but i can't get to it. please help
kapnut
I don't know why but my 1st headphone jack doesnt work only the 2nd. So I have to change sound source in system preferences when changing between headphone and speaker. For anyone who wants it I made an applescript to switch between speakers and headphone. Which can then be bound to butler. soundsource.app
