Are you still using your efi-string com.apple.Boot.plist?

of course not, I made another plist without it.

You can call different plists at boot with config=another

so your plist should saves as another.plist in the same folder as the com.apple.Boot.plist.

In my old AMD rig I had a plist with different NVCAP values on the gfx string to connect the Graphics card to the TV, so when I want to watch some XviD movie or series I just boot with config=tv.plist

Ah, I did not know that. Ok, time to go see if this works on the 1330.

Edit: Good, it works as intended. Now I just need to find an nvcap value to get my HDMI/VGA output working again. Anyone have one off the top of their head?

I installed Retail 10.5 and updated on the Mac Pro to 10.5.4 then installed modified kexts and kext disablers (like NullCPUPowerManagement.kext) booted, and now transfering data from backup volume.

I takes ages to finish :angry2:

I am using all up-to-date 10.5.5 NV kexts and OGL.framework. QE/CI works fine, performance is better than before, HDMI/VGA works etc.

Don't mix and match kexts from different versions, it decreases performance.

Hi, i have a M1530 on the way with the same graphic card as yours.

Would you mind telling me the exact sequence of your installation?

I am assuming:

iAtkos 4i

Nvinject

.....

?

thanks a lot

Andrea

Yes I'm using Chameleon. I'm the one advocating the Graphics Update method. But some people claim to have the 10.5.5 kexts working. I also cannot get sleep to work. The machine sleeps fine but wakes probably 1 in 20 times. The Console logs don't have anything in them that give a clue why it is happening.

macgirl, yes I'm aware he has a different card but as far as I knew NONE of the injectors worked with ANY nvidia card on the 10.5.5 kexts.

Because i've not reinstall my system for a while, and i wished to use DFE boot, i've done this fresh reinstall with a retail 10.5 disk.

Now i'm runing 10.5.5 and wake up from sleep is back (i had same issue as wingrunr previously).

Hmm, are you using specific kexts? Like the experimental speedstep instead of superhais, nullcpupowermanagement instead of intelcpupmdisabler, etc? I may give that a try tonight. My problem is I switched from an iAtkos install to a retail instead precisely to try and fix the issue and it didn't work.

Well that was an incredible way to learn.

For me EFI strings are no longer working for the graphics card, even on 10.4.4 (which does not have new Nvidia kexts, they are 10.5.3), so I use NVinject.

NVinject 0.2.2 from XDarwin installer did the work, even on 10.5.5, but what is better is that with 10.5.5 Nvidia kexts I have better performance on OpenGL, from 400 fps (avg) with my previous installation to 800 fps (avg) with this 10.5.5, like Windows performance, just a note: remember to put the display to sleep, it needs just a second to have the increased performance, before sleep display the performance is very low, like 10% of the performance of after sleep display.

So what I did:

Install of retail 10.5 with DFE boot 132, then update straight to 10.5.4 (with the combo update) but I guess that updating straight to 10.5.5 will work.

If you want to try use this NVinject, is modded for M1330's 8400GS: NVinject.kext.zip

Here are some pics from my recovering:

Thanks macgirl once again! I removed the EFI string and used NVinject.kext and it works perfectly with my 10.5.5 (no stress!).

Thank you a million times!

Is that the one labelled "Dell Inspiron_ISO" in sonotone's DFE's Boot-132 Resources Thread? Or is there an XPS specific ISO somewhere else?

none of the above, I made my own initrd.img with the kext of this thread and others:

ACPIBattery.kext

ACPIPS2Nub.kext

ApplePS2Controller.kext

AppleSMBIOSEFI.kext

ClamshellDisplay.kext

dsmos.kext

EHCISleepEnabler.kext

NullCPUPowerManagement.kext

ACPIBattery.kext

ClamshellDisplay.kext

EHCISleepEnabler.kext

download from here: http://www.superhai.com/darwin.html

ACPIPS2Nub.kext and NullCPUPowerManagement.kext from http://tgwbd.org/darwin/extensions.html

you can also use AppleACPIPS2Nub from http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=114578

AppleSMBIOSEFI.kext from http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=108606

you can also use SMBIOSResolver from Superhai's

ApplePS2Controller.kext and dsmos.kext from search the forum, or surely any installation DVD has it or even other already created initrd images.

First, sorry for my bad English.

I have an Inspiron 1720 ,

Sigmatel 9205

Intel gma x3100

1400x900 resolution

Dell 1390 wireless

Broadcom

4gb ram

logitech webcam

I tried to install Kaliway, leoForAll, Deneb, and Jas without success, so I tested Iatkos v4i (10.5.4) and it worked like a charm (I just choose broadcom for ethernet), but I had to change my bios to ATA instead of Ahci on the first boot. Then the screen goes first blue then to black, so I re started with -x, it worked fine but resolution was stuck at 1024x768 but it helped to finish the installation. Wireless works OOB and webcam too. I installed AppleIntelGMAX3100.zip with Kext Helper b7 but before I did set sleep control to left upper corner of the screen. It restarted ok, screen goes to blue then to black, I move the mouse and magic 1400x900 fully acelerated :(

So i installed DellPackage_35b.zip I choose battery meter and sound i repaired permissions and reboot.

For some reason it wont boot I checked and it showed AppleIntelFramebuufer duplicated, so I reboot with -s and deleted AppleIntelFrame*, reboot again and voila working again, battery meter but no sound. I reinstall just only sound this time, I repaired permissions and all is working right now.

Thanx to all of you!

Felipe

For those having problems with their webcam .. photobooth crashing and etc...

Try to disable the Quartz GL and you'll be able to use your webcam again.. but the FPS still very low.

If someone else found a hint about this issue.. please report to us.

EDIT : The webcam should work under Quartz GL after a sleep. Just tried and working great but the trackpad isn't working properly.

Thanks all ! :)

Is there some black magic required to get sleep working? I'm using kalyway's 10.5.2 with default options. I've tried sonotone's package with the EHCIUSBsleep.kext (or something similarly named), the clamshell sleep fix, and the pmbundle which seemed to give me a working battery meter. With NVinject installed sleep results in a restart of the computer, and without it sleep does nothing and leaves the display on. I did try searching the forum, both via Google and the builtin search but both just redirected to this thread (all 110 pages of it).

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and apologies in advance for cluttering the thread even more

Hey guys,

Just wondering how long you're all getting our of your batteries? I am using 10.5.2 with an XPS 1530... getting probably about 1 - 1 1/2 hours out if it on power saving... Would this seem about normal? It is probably about an hour down on what i get when in vista. Im a using the post installation pack put from the start of this thread (the latest version though), with the Power Management Kext included in that. Is there a better one for me to use? Or any other way to increase batttery life?

Thanks

Cam

PS... macgirl... you're legendary!

I want to re-install using the boot-132 method but I can't get the retail DVD to load properly.

Dell XPS M 1530 - nvidia 8600gt

I have tried the generic boot disk, the dell boot disk and the xps boot disk but the DVD will not load properly. It is always hanging.

What image have you used to get this going on this hardware?

Also, my retail DVD is version 10.5.0, do I need a later version or should this work?

Well I'm not one to talk since I've never been able to get sleep working properly but you need to install Superhai's EHCISleepEnabler. The clamshelldisplay is not a fix it just allows the notebook to sleep/wake upon lid close/open. You need to ensure that EHCISleepEnabler is installed properly (see the documentation at www.superhai.com/darwin.html) and that it is loading properly.

As for DFE boot, when I installed retail none of those disks worked properly for me. I had to create my own ISO with the kexts macgirl mentioned previously.
