theotherrogue
You probably have the vanilla ACPIPlatform, here is one: AppleACPIPowerSource.kext.zip I matched up the version numbers and my battery meter finally works! Thank you!!
XcAbAr
What mini-pci card does the macbook pro use? Would it be possible to replace our card with that one? I would hate to loose 802.11n (not that I currently have anything that uses it). You could get the Dell wireless 1500, it has 802.11n and it is broadcom based
macgirl
i think the NVinject doesn't support the geforce 8 series yet, thats waht its said on their website.... On the contrary, the firs enbaler to get 8800 card was the NVinject, even gotoh created a specific to match ram size on the cards. I get my gfx string thanks to NVinject. Hi MacgirlI did install iATKOS on my XPS M1330 but explicitly only selected the MacOSX core files and the Darwin Bootloader, nothing else at all. So would it be fine for me to install the Netkas PC-EFI v8? I also have two partitions one with windows and one with MacOSX? Do you see any problems? PS: Thanks for your support on my sound issue, I'm happy to say that it works flawlessly now. You rock! Yes I think that it won't broke anything, even if the PC EFI V8 is installed you can still using ALCinject and NVinject. I ditched the efi device properties method and installed alc inject and nvinjectgo and now my externel display works. Cool, glad to know Hi again, I may not have been clear but I wrote that I installed Punk92 last release wich I think contains 10.5.2 nvidia packages. Anyway, the problem's gone for no reason. I tried two things at the same time but doubt it might have an effect. I booted my disk in an usb enclosure and used the -v boot option (which I think only force osx to write down everything...) and my screen is back. Sese seems to have a solution to use external display, I might try it. One last thing. I'm really newby at all this but could someone tell me why 10.5.2 nvidia kext block shutdown, sleep and restart? Is it simply because they are "one version" ahead and when 10.5.2 will be out the problem will be solved? Thanks again to everyone here. You give a great hand to even a lot of people who never subscribes to the forum (usually me ) Benji101 Yes the NVidia 10.5.2 kext is blocking the shutdown/restart even when the whole 10.5.2 is installed. Almost everything working on my 1530, except the audio (besides fan sensors and sleep). I used the STAC9228_0x83847616 and it worked great after one reboot, after that the devices still show up but no sound. I installed AppleACPIPowerSource.kext and sound worked again after first reboot, but not after more. Used the NVInstaller again and go figure, sound worked when I rebooted but the next reboot nothing. Kalyway 10.5.1, vanilla, did not convert to EFI strings yet I got once time only without sound, try to re-install several times, that worked for others. What mini-pci card does the macbook pro use? Would it be possible to replace our card with that one? I would hate to loose 802.11n (not that I currently have anything that uses it). The card is the same in all Mac models, the Mac Pro uses it, and you can buy this card more easily because Mac Pros come without it unless you specificaly bought with it, AFAIK it is a Broadcom based. Has anyone tried installing Leopard on an Inspiron 1525? I think that the Inspiron 1525 should work with these methods, I see no difference with the other new Inspirons. I matched up the version numbers and my battery meter finally works! Thank you!! Cool, glad to know.
dankasfuk
Hi MacGirl, I was trying to understand the steps needed to get my battery status icon working... If I installed iATKOS r2 and installed apple's stock AppleACPIPlatform.kext during installation, there is no way to get it working, is that correct? If not, could you please explain how to install the needed kexts and which files need to be edited for version matching? Thanks for your time. Mike PS - you say in the tutorial that only one person had sleep working and couldn't reproduce it, but I have it working consistently with my inspiron 1420 (almost identical hardware to the m1330). krazyazme
Hi I was able to use this guide thank you very much for all of everyones efforts and the many hours spent. I do have one question on my M1330 the processor is showing as 1GHz is this just a reading error or is everyones like this also? I do have speedstep disabled in the bios as I only use this pluged in anyway so I like it to perform with all its got at all times Specs are: 4GB Ram crucial 1.5 core 2 duo Nvidia 256 meg 8400M 160 sata HD My Bios I turned off alot of things all Wireless, onboard nic, speed step things that dont work basically so I am just wondering if there is a patch? I used the Kalyway DVD.

Battery indicator is possible if you use the AppleACPIPowerSource.kext that I attached in 1st post, but you need to edit the Info.plist to match with your AppleACPIPlatoform and IOACPIFamily.kext Sorry for the sleep mis-information, I meant on the M1330, I will edit to specify that, thanks. Which Graphics card do you have? Hi I was able to use this guide thank you very much for all of everyones efforts and the many hours spent. The mis-reading of processor speed could be fixed, maybe a different SPPlatformReporter.spreporter is needed, I think there are some attached on different threads across the board, try a search. bigboss
All I can say is I'd really be interested in installing 10.5 on my M1530 but the lack of built in WiFi or Ethernet support* is really a major deterrent. Maybe if 10.5.2 has working Intel WiFi drivers, I might make the switch as my old Dell Dimension 8400 doesn't want to even boot Leopard. *I have an Intel Wifi because I do a lot of Linux work
vivavn
why don't you buy a 1490 Dell wireless card for about $10 on ebay???there 2 mini PCI slots, 1 for intel one and one for Dell one, works perfectly
ranova
People have reported restart, shutdown, sleep, deep sleep, etc working after 10.5.2 and the graphics update. Not neccessary on the m1330, anyone brave enough to try? http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...87040&st=40 edit2: theres a way to install it (at least on the kalyway install): http://netkas.org/?p=50#comments
cRuNcHiE
I have just installed it on my iatkos r2 install. /WARNING on booting back into 10.5.2 the keyboard/touchpad does not work. Apparenntly this is due to the appleapci kext, im just about to reinstall old one. My usb keyboard/mouse works fine. It also seemd to reboot fine, i'll try shutdown/sleep now and report back EDIT: replaced the AppleACPIplatform.kext and keyboard/touchpad work again. Reboot does work but sleep still doesnt for me, but this is probably because i havent got the graphics running from EFI yet. ( well i hope so!) Regarding the removal of appleintelcpupowermanagement, my 10.5.1 install still had that there and did seem to run cooler than it does now without it? cRuNcHiE
my graphics EFI is working now. I just did a sleep and it slept! but then woke up after 5 seconds but is still usable , whereas before it would wake up but crash after a few seconds. I have now realised putting the older appleacpi kext has killed reboot.

shinmemkuf
Just a quick note for people who had sound working but now it doesnt. I had the same problem on my M1330 and I found that the way to get sound back is to put the screen to sleep right after boot. It will work at any other time too, as long as nothing that uses the card is running (like iTunes). Thanks MacGirl and others for all your help. macgirl
What do you mean by putting the screen to sleep? when the display shuts off, i can be done automaticaly with the Energy Saver Preference panel adjusting the time of the Display(s) to sleep or it can be done if you set "hot corners" or Active Screen Corners in the Exposé & Spaces preference panel, select one or more of the corners and put "sleep display" on it. then with the mouse move to that corner, I also notices speed increase with the graphics, and I measure it, on OpenGL I got 45 FPS before the sleep display and 460 FPS after the sleep display. cRuNcHiE
Hmm interesting! I tried with hot corners and still no sound. I have ubuntu 7.10 on here now which works flawlessly so im going to try a codec dump when i figure out how EDIT: Okay this is weird! After originally posting this i put the laptop down, closed the lid then had my dinner! I open up the laptop again and while searching for a HOWTO codec dump in linux i fire up colloquy IRC and it starts making noises! Itunes is working as is everything else. WEIRD! I can only assume that while i had the laptop put away it had attempted to goto sleep as i havent edited the power settings yet, it failed to sleep and somehow now its working. I tried to make it sleep last night though and then test sound and it didnt work then so im totally confused! Maybe the sound will only work after you have had your dinner?
