Hello,

I have a dell vostro 1700 with, actually, osx leopard 10.5.5. with boot132. I would like to use leopard 10.5.6, so I installed pcefi v9. The problem is that the system boot, and it hangs after "wake kernel ! ". When I put the option " -v" or "-x", always the same problem.

Where is the problem?

Thank you very much.

Up please.

I can only boot with the boot132 CD...

@ Macgirl. Just a quick one, i have been getting my 1720 up and running, so far i have everything working except shutdown/restart (as we all know). Would you like me to submit my procedure so far or just create a new thread specifically for the 1720? Most of the steps are made up of other members tips but i thought it would be good to put it all in one place for others to get their 1720`s up and running in one go?

cheers,

-nowake is the option you need. I think netkas said that deep sleep still has some issues so I'd avoid using hibernate if possible.

cheers,

I think you can make a new thread for 1720, there is one on the tutorials, having another give users the power of choice.

I setup a pair of 1720 or 1725, and some Precisions for a friends, and since this came more frequent than before I created an Image of and Disk (Mac OS Installed on a real Mac, and upgraded to the latets update) so I can restore the image to the disk of a new machine and later put all the specific kext it needs. I even ende buying a craddle tha can hold SATA disks (2.5 and 3.5) that has a converter to USB, but also you can useit as External SATA.

I applied IONetworkingFamily installer and fixed permissions after the installer ran, my drive still wouldn't connect. Any suggestions? other than the ever helpful google suggestion?

Is this the fix?

Sounds like you need the moddified IONetworkingFamily.kext by ToH. Here it is...

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HWVMONUU

After placing it it /System/Library/Extensions

sudo -s

*password*

rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions.mkext

chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext

chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext

reboot, and keep your fingers crossed

HTH,

The Baron

You would be surprised how many people skip that "ever helpful" step.

Yes that is the fix. Make sure you back up your original IONetworkingFamily kext first.

ok so last question i hope...

i googled this as well, but couldnt find any actual help.

I have just gotten my dell 1390 wifi card in the mail, and i installed it in my second mini pci express slot. Supposedly this was "just supposed to work" with the m1330- but when i booted into osx it showed up as a "third party device" instead of an airport extreme. The device is recognized by osx but it wont let me turn it on. The device always remained "turned off" and the turn on button is nonresponsive. Is this an issue with having both wifi cards installed at the same time?

Has anyone had experience with this, and/or has any insight?

You need to provide more specific information about your build so far e.g. what release of osx are you using, what have you done with kexts etc since installation (if you have made lots of changes etc then it's harder to help you solve your issue).

Check back through this thread as i myself have had similar issues and managed to solve, i have posted my findings on this thread so read back and check.

Yeah I figured out what sudo does, I just get errors.

after sudo -s I get to password. I enter mine and the next line is then bash-3.2#

I enter after it the rm -rf/sytem/Library/Extensions.mkext line and get rm:illegal option usage: rm [-f -i] [dPRrvW]file... unlink file

I am assuming I have not produced a good result.

I tried the osx86tools fix and it didn't work either. The add efi strings, ethernet strings and apply changes to com.apple.Boot option.

I may need to hand this off to a specialist if i want TM to work.

Have you plugged anything into the ethernet port? I wasnt using ethernet at all just wireless but until i connected the machine via ethernet to the router just the once then my TM backup worked from then on.. Also check to see if the devices are listed in the networking section of preferences, until you can confirm that your ethernet is working in osx, time machine will not work.
